  • Here a quick go over on how I locked my John Deere 212 peerless 2300 lsd (limited slip differential) transaxle!
This went very smooth and turned out great was a cool way to lock a transaxle over to normal “welder up” way!
Big thanks to ‪@DocSprocket‬ for the help of his video to show me how to do it myself!
Great method for this style peerless 2300!
Make sure to check out the DOC’s video if your gunna lock up your transaxle this way!
And no you can’t do this with your “open diff” peerless 2300
But there are a few different videos going over how to weld up a locker for your 1200/2300 series
Hope this helps you out guys!
    Cheers

Well done, and thanks for the credit. Yes, I ran mine for quite some time with zero issues, then passed that transaxle along to my good friend Lawn Gone's Tractor Shop (RIP 09/21) who absolutely beat on it for a couple years until the bearings in the tranny failed. Upon disassembly, there was NO indication of any abnormal wear or damage. Another friend has since acquired it, has pulled the lock plates and is returning that diff to stock for a restoration. I definitely stand by this method.

I'm glad to see that you have a 2300 in your mower! I have one sitting here from an MTD 918, and I'm planning on doin' the same with the mower and make 'er an off roader🤙

Fantastic! I have a John Deere 110 that I am torn about using. I found a (ran when parked) craftsman GT16. Reddzz02 said that I should use the GT16. What do my favorite Canadians think?

@@okoffroadmowers It is in the top of the barn with a tarp over it. I have to move my Porsche 914 GT6 race car and other projects out of the way to get to it. Planning on doing that this weekend and I will let you know so you can tell me what I should do. than you.

Great vid, well done. I have a few 2300s, one came from a JD 212 or 214, a few more are still in the tractors. Is there a way to tell externally if a 2300 has the LSD? It would be nice to know without having to take them out of the tractors and disassembling them. Keep up the good work!

My transaxle had a external diff tag that read “LSD”

@@okoffroadmowers Thanks man, time to go check all my 2300s! Hey, I have a mower salvage yard here in Pittsburgh PA - probably too expensive to ship real big things, but let me know if I can help with smaller stuff.
