Good and interesting analysis. I have been married to an INFP for 23 years. There have been a lot of growing pain. But it’s worth every minute. Thanks for this video.
I'm an ISFP and the only time I fell in love was with an INFP, also had a crush on another INFP and a couple of close friends. How they create the innovations and stick to their visions, oh man.. It looks like we are drown to one another, and I feel if we have the same values we basically can conqueror the world
I definitely think it can be a cool and powerful combination with a lot of benefits. Values can be so tricky to work with sometimes though - especially for people that hold them so dearly.
So interesting. I'm INFP and married to ISFP (19 years). I have learned over the years that these are the things that annoy him the most and to try and avoid: - getting all excited about some new project, and swearing I will do it, and then procrastinating because it isn't perfect and failing to complete it and getting all excited about the next new idea; my eternal quest for the perfect "career" (although he relates to this too); asking him to imagine a ton of different "what if" scenarios that involve major upheavals like moving country etc - he just CANNOT, it freaks him out; and sometimes he comes across as very stubborn to me in his refusal to consider ALL the options, and I find this frustrating, but I have learned to expect and anticipate it and tolerate it lol....Oh, and he is definitely more adventurous than me and I can be a homebody sometimes, but since I'm the female and he's the male I never realized that was an INFP/ISFP thing, I figured that was just us being raised that way or something.
I think that INFP and ISFP can have some of the best relationships among the types as long as they are "healthy" and communicate directly all the time. It's very important for these types to know where they stand in the relationship and not make false assumptions about the other. But if they are turbulent/unhealthy then this relationship can be quite hard to maintain despite their similarities. The NE/SE and SI/NI functions can cause issues.
Fellow INFP here :) I got close to an ISFP I really like, I have to admit that until now, I never understood sensing types and actually devalued them somewhat compared to how I thought about N types. But this guy really made me aware of how much I am living inside of my head all the time and how being in my body is actually a very good place to be. I am feeling super humbled and I can feel it is making me grow a lot. People keep saying that sensing/intuitives don’t match but seriously, so important to see what we can offer each other instead of being so snobbish about our own way of looking at the world being somewhat superior. I now really feel inspired to be more present and experience things through my body. Wish me luck! :)
I always get confused between those two types because we share lots of common interest. Most of the musicians I follow are song writers and loves art just like INFPs. Thanks for the clarification.
Wow, this was dead on, thank you! The harsh reality of not necessarily aligning when you thought you were, the need for courage to adapt and engage, creating the safe zone for your auxiliary functions and the advice to 'just be' when you're together...this is validation and, incredibly helpful. The advice for what each type can do separately to be in better harmony with their reality is especially enlightening.
Thank you. I'm glad to hear it resonated. Just some thoughts from my experiences and a bit of empathy to notice what the other person would want in that situation :)
i love your videos, they help so much. My mother is an ISFP, and I am an INFP. This sounds so accurate and I had no idea her functions were so similar but so different. We are a lot alike but also so different. We'll be having a good conversation then all of a sudden it's like our conversation just takes the craziest turns and by the end of it we have no idea what happened but we're in totally opposite places than where we started, be it an arguement or a pleasant conversation. Communication is so difficult between us and always has been.
my best friend is an isfp and i’m an infp and this is genuinely the best advice/learning experience i’ve ever seen. both of us have been much better people individually and much better friends because of this advice, so thank you!
I love your advice and way of explaining things! Could you do a video on INFP-INFP relationships? I'm INFP and I'm happiest with other INFPs, but my partners are always more stereotypically INFP than I am - more introverted, more insecure, more easily sad and depressed. I think I'd be happiest with an INFP whose Ne and Te are as developed as mine are, but idk. Thank you!!
Hello! INFP-A here. My husband is an ISFP and so is my older sister. Between two ISFPs there can be differences in world views, likes/dislikes, hobbies which make them more/less compatible with an INFP. The latter can sometimes be even more important than having complimentary or compatible types, I think. :)
Please do a INFP and ISTP relationship advice video. I’ve seen lots lots of people saying is one of the most strange combinations possible , but we made it work for 5 years till now 😅 Anyways , help is always welcome Ps: Really like your channel , it’s been a great help for my self-growth 🧡
Geek Psychology ‘Tis around 25 minutos loong. And I get unfocused fast, when a video has a lot of (GOOD) information, that I have all to comprehend But I’m coming back to it (and some other videos like that) often to continue from where I finished the last time
I'm an ISFP and somehow I'm always surrounded by INFPs. I'm not complaining tho, I actually like them a lot! I really admire their way of thinking. Btw thanks for the video! :)
How do I know what type am I? 😵😵😵 All I know is I'm introvert and super shy, and I have social anxiety 😨😢 I hate phone calls, I hate celebrating my birthdays, I hate going to party's or weddings, I hate talking to people, I stutter a lot 😭😭😭
I’m not sure. I can relate to a lot of those issues. Not as much now. I still stutter a bit. I still don’t like phone calls. I think that not identifying yourself so much with that label would be the first step to being happy with yourself... though that’s not what you were asking for help with. :)
Geek Psychology But.. speaking about “at the right time” 😅 May you make a video about INFP-INFP relationships? And about understanding your inner voice (not sure which letter/part of it stands for it, Fi?) as an INFP. And learning to say NO, *but* also to say YES (to opportunities, for example, when you sure or not exactly sure that it is a good one) 👀 as an INFP?
Interesting!! Good explanation as well, thanks. I keep wondering which type would ever fit with me, as in, which type could I like enough 😅 (and they me as well, but that's a secondary worry 😛) It all seems so complicated, human connection 😬
YW. All depends on the person, ya know? Personality types can help explain a lot, but a person still has many, many different facets. You might think you'd never get along with an ESTJ as an INFP, but then you do and your life changes for the better.
my isfp has become very manipulative, pathological lies, blows up. hes getting therapy now, but what can i do to help him be his best self? how can he also change for the better?
Sorry to hear that. He likely needs more Fi self-discovery and alone time. I personally need A LOT of that or I get prickly. Better relationship with Te. Probably some exercise would be good too (?).
Soooo... I am an IN/SFP and I have never felt so understood haha. I'm at the part where you talk about the N and S and for the innovative explorer I was like "yeah I do that, not well but definitely something I gravitate towards" then when you said the part about the S, I was like "yes" haha. I could just be an incredibly tactical and kinesthetic INFP but I know for a fact those two functions either switch or have level playing fields in my brain haha. Ok I'm done 🙈
I can't (and wouldn't want to) tell you what your best-fit type is. Introverted Feeling, the "Resonating Empath", is really kinesthetic as it is. It's a kinesthetically-felt decision-making process. I'd suggest looking into the underlying reasons for why you want to, for example, travel. Is it to experience more of life or is it to connect the patterns? I notice a lot of SP-NJs and NP-SJs differ in the idea of "eat to live" vs "live to eat"... just some extra mind-boggling things to think about.
@@GeekPsychology I'll have to think about that? Idk like when I hear INFP talked about over all I am like " yes I am that" but when you talked about the S Vanguard I was like "wait wait wait I definitely do that more" I'm more prone to activity to experience the world and I need to really work on my creativity, I can do it but it's not as natural. Lol I enjoy connecting patterns but I am able to pull myself into the present and only act on senses of I want to. Maybe I broke my Vanguard 🧐
@@lilywojciechowski9906 sorry to butt in here as this isn't my conversation, but based on your last comment Lily, it just sounds to me like you are well rounded. Much of what you've said resonates with me also (I'm an INFP) Just over a year ago, and previous to that, 3 years before that, before my MH worsened, I didn't have much of the usual weaknesses INFPS generally struggle with. Staying present, being observant of surroundings, navigating GPS etc.. As I was healthier and didn't overly identify myself with MBTI, so there weren't those artificially created self-inflicted psychological limitations from reading so many online profiles of the typical "away with the fairies", depressed & wimpy INFP stereotype😅🙈 So it's only since I became less healthy these natural tendencies worsened & became actual problems. Ultimately it's okay if you don't resonate 100% with all the traits of a particular personality type, it's not an all-encompassing database. What might help you figure it out, is it's about what behaviours you would naturally gravitate towards without external pressures for example. Your preference. Hope that helps somewhat.
@@liadanryan-gerhardt7189 that does help thank you for your comments! It's helpful to hear from another person on the subject and another INFP 😊 I do remember I a time when my sensory wasn't that great and I began to focus on it and only live in the present and I noticed a shift, that's why I don't mind saying I feel like my N and S switch sometimes, but maybe it's just well roundedness like you said! I appreciate the input 😊
Need advice, I’m INFP-T she’s ISFP, matched on bumble and I been trying to talk to her. But I don’t know how to initiate a lasting conversation, so far we’re just having small talks and memes, most of the conversations are initiated by me. How do I get her interested in a lasting conversation? I also asked her out on a date, she said sure but she wanted to clarify more until then she didn’t and decided not to. So I was left with no answer from that neither did i want to pressure her into answering me and i just went with the flow and continue talking to her.
In general I plan to have her as my gf, I don’t want to think too far ahead about marriage, it would be great but for now just working on it step by step. I’m really interested in her and I want to know her more before jumping into together.
My advice would be to… 1) slow down… if you haven’t even met her, you probably shouldn’t be thinking about dating or marriage yet :) and 2) if you want something interesting to talk about, do something interesting and tell her about it - 60% of the time it works every time lol. But you also can’t control or expect people to respond - especially if you haven’t had a deep and meaningful relationship with them yet. People don’t know your value from the start, so they focus on other things going on in their life.
@@GeekPsychology thank you for your advice, yeah i shouldn’t think much about it at this point being an INFP, always bound for ruined expectations if i don’t control my visions.
