- In this video I go over what needs to be done to remove the grille emblem. it's actually not that bad.
TOOLS NEEDED -
7MM, 10MM, PANEL CLIP REMOVAL TOOL, T30 TORX BIT
Random commenter: You know you have to wait 1000 miles before you try to tow anything 🙄
MrBoom (third day of owning the truck): Let me take the whole truck apart and show you if it's easy or not 😏
Our last three brand new vehicles were all taken apart sooner than this one 😅😅
And I believe he tow above limits (2k).
You know you have to wait at least 1000 miles before taking the truck apart. lol
@@xxZerosumxx that's great and all.. but you're wrong.
@@MrBoom50 I hope you know I was joking. Making fun of whoever told you to wait 1k miles.
On a side note, can you park the truck next to an older ranger take measurements. I haven't seen anyone do this. They only state that its comparable in size. Thanks for what you're doing to your Maverick and sharing it.
They haven't even started building mine yet... and this guy is taking his apart already!
That haven't started building my original order either 😤
Lol
Whats your build date?
40 hours later: "So we've dropped the rear suspension, subframe, and transmission, now we should have access to the front Ford emblem."
40 hours = / = 30 minutes. Basically the same
Thou seeks attention
🤣🤣
If I just want to take off the grille will I have to take off the front bumper?
I was the only guy I knew that use to do this kind of stuff in the 70s. I would take eight track under dash mount players and cut holes in dashes and create custom installs in the dash. Chol giant holes in the roof of cars and drop in sunroofs… You are a man after my own heart
🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for the video. The Mav will be the first truck that I have owned. It’s scheduled for build the 3rd week of October. Keep the videos rolling.
First time truck owner. Maverick ordered 8/16 and still on order. I am enjoying watching you tear it down. I also can’t wait to see how you customize it.
Love your documentary and journey with the mav.. thanks for doing this!
Absolutely! Thanks for following along!
Great video awesome stuff glad I subscribed, keep on with the good fight I enjoy your jabs back to the trolls 🤣 don’t know why some have to hate but your videos are great 👍
@@CultureandChirst thank you! And I don't mind the trolls haha! At the end of the day they watched the video or at least part of it which means views for the algorithm! I don't mind going back and forth if I have the time haha!
Looking at putting my order in for one of these and I always check out these kind of videos to see what a vehicle will be like to live with. It's great to watch someone doing exactly the kind of mods I am looking forward to. Thanks for putting this kind of content up! Havnt talked me out of one yet lol!
I appreciate you doing all this work for us.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great content! I’m super excited to see what the maverick looks like when you’re finished
Thank you!
I know this is early but can you see if you can reach the oil drain pan to change oil without jacking up ? Thanks
Nicely done, keep up the good work!
So since the unpainted lower part of the bumper unbolts from the painted part, are the attachment points on the truck to put the tow hooks on a non-FX4 truck?
Yes please someone make a video on this!!!
did you have to take the whole grill off like you did just to get the front, black strip that has the ford logo on it or could just that be taken off? Mine is Silver and I really want it to be black!
hi, i wanted to ask if you are able to connect to Android auto/apple carplay wirelessly without having to connect your phone through a charger?
I get mine in nov,, already shipped. Great videos!!! Cant wait to start taking my lariat apart too.
Nice work and thanks for sharing. Your videos will be helpful to future Maverick owners.
I hope so!
Good stuff man I’m in central Texas looking at getting a Maverick appreciate the DIY and informational content.
Do you think it would be possible with some tweaking to completely replace the front end with a raptor front end kit (fenders, lights, hood, grille, bumper, etc)?
Loving the content! Keep these great videos coming along man 🤙🏼
Love youuuu 🤗🤗
@@MrBoom50 dawwww ❤️
Dude... I like the fact you are so confident taking apart a brand new truck... you make it look easy! This is really interesting...
Thank you!
Dude there are a million people making maverick videos (im watching them all) and you're channel is my favorite. I really hope you keep making videos. The stuff you're showing is really interesting. Good stuff.
I appreciate it alot! Thank you so much. And I definitely plan on trying to get as much info and how to info out as quick as possible
Same. Just ordered mine this morning
@@trentondean4606 did u order without test driving? Because my area Ford dealerships don’t have any yet was wondering if I should just order
@@NurseKing3 I didn't because they didn't have any but they'll have one next week I can test drive. I can still cancel the order if I need to.
Thanks for the videos!
I'm waiting for the 2024 Maverick but will be watching your customizing vids.
Is the 2024 Maverick going to be upgraded or different? Just curious.
The 2022 was literally just released lol. Absolutely no info had been given regarding the 2024. He's probably just waiting to wait
@@MrBoom50 Yes won't really need a new vehicle until then.
I usually stay away from first-year new model releases, also won't pay above MSRP that dealers around me want to charge.
GREAT video today Boom. I watched the whole thing. Quality man.
Thank you sir!
Dude, thanks for this - especially taking the time to walk through each step. My partner's Maverick seems to have be hit by someone's hutch, cracking the grill. Not only did you teach me how to take it off to replace, you also showed me that I don't need the whole thing - I just need a sub-part & can keep the bar w/ the badge. If she wants an update to the badge, now would be the time to get a new one :)
Do you plan on dropping a wireless charger underneath the rubber tray in the front? If so, I’d love to see how you end up doing that.. loving the vids so far - as someone who has no real experience with taking cars apart and stuff, this is really interesting to watch and see the whole process
Potentially yes, I'll definitely look to see what's available!
Thanks for doing what you do!
Thanks for watching and giving me a reason to!
So if any of the bulbs from the headlights malfunctions or needs replacing you need to take the whole front end off just to take off the headlights? Or can you reach the bulbs from behind the headlight housing? I'm wondering mainly for those turn signals, I would replace those with LEDs.
No, there's plenty of access to the bulbs without removing the headlights 🤙
@@MrBoom50 Happy to hear. Thanks for the great content man. Subbed
Are the door panels difficult to remove???
I like what you're laying down and I got some things I'm doing myself since the Maverick has four ground clearance front and back I'm building these bumper to see what you think
Excellent video! Thank you.
WoW 😳 I was thinking of taking the bumper off to replace it with an FX4 bumper with the holes for fog lamp/driving lights. Can you see where the front tow hooks would attach.
Your hard work and Mrs. Boom got my subscription! I’m excited to see what you’re gonna do with all the pieces ! My sonic you have to remove that from bumper cover to remove the head lights too 😔
Good lord! I think it is easier to get into Fort Knocks then that bumper / grill.
Its really not that difficult!
Do the two plastic pieces where the tow hooks would have gone come off? Or would you have to cut them out?
They'll need cut out, will be going over that as well
@@MrBoom50 I was looking for this answer. I've checked out you channel since the Maverick and accessory parking garage video. Keep it coming.
Subscribed to your channel. Hoping you can post other videos working on your Maverick. I think you’re the first to post a video relevant to working on this truck.
Thank you! And I have another 10 videos for sure lined up with modifications and once it's time for maintenance those as well!
@@MrBoom50 great! Looking forward to it!
KEEP THESE VIDEOS COMMIN!
Gunna try to!
Still waiting on my maverick and since you have the same gen f150. I'm curious, does it look like the foglights from the f150 will fit where tow hooks would be on the maverick?
Fit, yes. Look right.. no
@@MrBoom50 appreciate it! Keep up the great content
do you have any photos of the front end without the bumper?
Are you going to make a belt buckle out of the old emblem? If so please make a video on it.
Whats up! How about the sizes for the emblems? Did you got some other colors for it?
Can you add fog lights if you don't get them?
Thanks for the content mr boom.
Thank you for watching!
Just want to say your video saved my life.. and pockets. Had a collision with a deer which cracked my grille and messed up the Ambient Outside Temperature Sensor. Dealership was saying around $2000+ worth of damage… watch your video, took off the bumper. All I need is a replacement grill (hated it anyways), plugged the sensor back in, and no more engine light on 🙌🏾‼️
Was the Ford emblem the first thing they started building the truck from?
Can't wait to see some heavy duty bumper options in the aftermarket
I can haha. A heavy bumper won't look right imo.
I am planning on ArcRite in Del Rio to build one for me. Built well and lighter duty for our deer out here
I really like this truck.
I love it!
I get my maverick in April next year this will help my excitement till then 😆
Damn you got a date already
Great video!
Thank you!
The front bumper removal process is very similar to my Explorer but ford seems to put way more bolts on the maverick
We had a Ford EcoSport on loan when our Explorer was being worked on. Felt too tight inside and wasn't a big fan. If you've ever driven an EcoSport, how does the Maverick compare to it?
More spacious, more pep, more fun to drive 🤙🤙
@@MrBoom50 awesome! Thanks for the reply and loving your content
@@DB-px5mv you bet! And thank you!
Not sure about the Mverick, but on the 2019 F150 the emblem can be removed by removing the bolts for the hook locking latch and moving to a side and then sticking your hand inside
This video literally shows what has to be done to remove the emblem.
I was cringing watching you do this. I don`t think I`m going to touch my Maverick.
It really wasn't that difficult. This video should make it possible for anyone with an inkling of common sense be able to pop the grille assembly off in less than 20 minutes.
@@MrBoom50 I just leave it to the experts like yourself. Carry on.
@@hoosierdaddy8002 haha thank you,, I'm hardly an expert, I just like piddling
Wow you have guts dude. Thanks for doing it as most of us wouldn't have the heart to do it. Now I'm anxious what you are going to replace it with. Is Raptor style grill :-)
At the end of the video you mentioned you would put a link to how to take apart the emblems ?
Epic information
Thank you!
Where is the emblem disassemble video link?
New to your channel🙋🏻♂️. Very interesting 👍😎
nice i hope you plan on dropping this when it has parts available
Could you show us how is the inside engine too?.
do u think u would be able to put on the raptor grille on the maverick ??
Let's pray to God not
Would you spray the undercarriage with anything for anti rust?
I'm in Texas, so I won't bother with that. But for folks up north, definitely wouldn't hurt
Mr Boom!!! No Beef today??? Lol. But seriously, as I wait to get my hybrid, I'm looking at some accessories, in particular some blacked out Ford emblems possibly. Is the front grille emblem on the Maverick same size as their other trucks? Thx in advance! Love to da Beef!!
It's unfortunately not the same as any other ford truck emblem, I'm going to try to cross reference other part numbers though to see what else has the same one!
I’ll just be putting a vinyl sticker over that emblem 👍🏼
By all means! Lots will!
you got any links to high quality ones? Also could you get the grill vinyl wrapped without taking it all apart?
@@w1llthajawbreakder grille is textured. Doubt any reputable shop will want to wrap it
@@MrBoom50 ohh didn't realize that, appreciate the reply! great video series you got going btw
@@w1llthajawbreakder you bet! Thank you!
Do you have a video of how the take apart the front emblem? Also any video of how to remove the rear emblem?
looking for that too :)
Fuzzy fender liners??? That makes no sense to me. Is there a benefit I am not aware of for using those grime grabbers?
Honestly no clue lol, I was surprised as well
I saw the thumbnail and did a double take thinking you got into a wreck for a second lol
I appreciate the video...I was hoping for a heat and replace (I planned on blacked out emblems as well) but as easy as you make it seem, its just doesn't seem worth the trouble to do this at home. Also, non-emblem related, how tall is your wife and how easy does she find accessing the tailgate and bed area? I have 2 people in my family just under 5 feet tall and currently theres no Mavericks in my area to check out yet...they were both wondering how stressful loading groceries and backpacks/other crap would be. Thanks and keep the content going!
Wife is 5'7. She has no issues getting over the bedsides/tail gate. Tailgate down, is super easy to get into the bed
Is there no way to unbolt the emblem piece from reaching between the grille and radiator?
Did you even watch the video lol.
You can but it’s super tight
But I ended up dropping the grille/bumper to get some hardware I dropped. And it’s probably just as quick to pull it like this
while it is apart, you should try and see if there is a way to upgrade the intercooler. if it has one that is.
Exactly
I’ll definitely wait until the aftermarket bumpers come out😅
Why would you remove it?
What every car tinkerer loves to hear, plastic clips ugh. Sometimes you wish you can be there when the engineer is designing this stuff and give a swift slap upside the head.
Yeah there were quite a few, but that allows ford to keep the maverick economical, i wont complain too mucb
Did you already post the link to your parts supplier? Super cool videos!
I'm my parts supplier 🤙🤙
Why are you taking it off?
did you notice at 24:01 the grill is held on by only plastic clips? ford has a tool that reached back to these and can literally pop the grill off in a few minutes.
I can't believe you're already tearing apart that new truck....
I had to hit the subscribe button.
It's what I do 🤙🤙 thank you!
I'm buying 1 tomorrow and taking the whole thing apart and then put it back together. Lol
Have fun!
You've got more patience than I do brother. Especially for a new company logo. Lol.
Prices are getting so outrageous, I'm going to ask for a discount for advertising for the automaker on my grill.
The patience has taken time to acquire lol.. It's what I do for a living, the grill and everything else is getting paint matched and/or modified. But I love it, so it's all worth it
@@MrBoom50 Kudos to you. I say, if you enjoy it, then live life to the fullest. In this day and age not enough people are doing things they enjoy. I have my pleasures too.....fly fishing, axe restoration, and hiking. 👍👍
@@TheBeatenPaths see, there's no way I'd have the patience it takes for the axe restoration.. but watching someone else do it is mesmerizing haha
@@MrBoom50 Hahaha. I get it. 👍
I need more MrBoom!
Doing my best haha
those magnetic lights would have helped here. great video
Agreed, still unpacking from the move lol thank you
What is the fuel tank size ?
I had it down to 7 miles to E. Put 16.3 gallons in.
Wtf, why is the grill attached to the bumper
What does the horn sound like?
All the other ford truck horns
What wheels are you putting on it?
Dude... You need to get some m12 rocket lights. Home Depot right now has the buy one “starter kit” with 2 6ah batteries and a charger for 199. You get a free tool. Do the rocket light. I just bought my 2nd one. 2 6.0 batteries and the light!! Can’t be beat. I’d get two if I were you. ;)
I've got ample overhead lighting coming, just hasn't made it yet
@@MrBoom50 cool dude. These are great lights. Plus more batteries for your m12 tools! Side lighting is great. Low power mode doesn’t flicker on camera they say… plus great for doing electrical and any work around the house.
@@MrBoom50 I swear I don’t work for Milwaukee. I just love the tools and see that you have the ratchet.
The funny part of this is considering that you live near San Antonio where I live, the Texas heat wrecks havoc on the glue which holds on the Ford piece. So, all over San Antonio area people are driving without that blue oval emblem. Of course, I don't know why you think a lot of people would even be interested in taking those off?
The emblem is bolted on. And people want to take them off the replace with custom painted or custom aftermarket ones.
@@MrBoom50 yes the emblem may be bolted on, but the blue oval ford piece is glued in the emblem. Those fall off all that time in Texas.
@@aj_aka_alan no it isn't. Maybe on vehicles from the 90s. But they're definitely not glued now. They're plastic weld/riveted on.
@@MrBoom50 I'll take a picture of the next one I see in an HEB parking and prove it to you. What you will see is emblem in place but nothing in the oval.
God I understand you wanna show people how to do stuff with the truck but omg I cant in my right mind think of taking my brand knew truck apart for no reason
I'm not doing it for no reason... I'm doing it because I want to and because it's literally what I do for a living and how I make money.
@@MrBoom50 fair enough it's just kinda made me cringe the whole time you did good work and nothing wrong just my brain was like whoa lol. I didn't mean any transgressions
Whew! I thought he smashed it already. Glad to see it was on purpose
Haha yep! All on purpose!
Would you loose any warranty for dissambling the truck?
Negative. Nothing that has been done or will be done will void the warranty.
Me, just sticks my hand between the front and the radiator and clicks it in. Lol!
No you're not.
wow they really made you take the bumper off just to get the grill off thats ridiculous. whoever makes aftermarket grills might as well make a full front end replacement.
The video probably makes it seem more difficult than it is. If I wasn't filming I'd have had it off in 15 or so minutes
Some sanding, masking tape and black paint and I'm done.
And it will look half assed. But if that's how you wanna do it.. by all means
17:54 to see “the rear of the assembly” 🍑😅
This dude is rich. Just got this truck and is already remaking it!
It's a $27k truck. Hardly rich lol
@@MrBoom50 i mean for the fact that he is already destroying it ! I would not even bend my seats before the year to avoid any damage 😅
@@luismessimer1 what about it is "being destroyed"
I'm just going to yank it out and glue the new one in, fuck all that lol, but once other grilles come out will be a different story lol
Nothing like voiding all the warranties
Nothing like being clueless about warranties. Literally nothing that's been done will void any warranty.
Let’s do oil change!
Probably be a month or so before it's time for that
@@MrBoom50 you might make enough off of RUclips views to pay for the oil change if you get it up early enough. Not criticizing, just saying it could be a good investment, especially if you get employee pricing on parts.
Why would anyone want to replace the emblem? What a waste of time and energy. I'm glad ford made the front grille so well.
Take it off-roading too
