The V10 M cars really became totally different beasts on the top end. Unmatched.
Unfortunately not the new ones.
Yeah, I have a convertible version of this M6, and the top end on it is absolutely crazy, especially for the power it has. The drag coefficient is really low, but it still feels very stable at high speeds. I've had mine for about 10 years now, and I'm never selling it lol. It's a pain maintenance wise at times, but totally worth it.

The relentlessness with which it climbs to 300 so fast and easily with "only" 550hp is astonishing!!!!! And keeps pulling!!! There are cars with 600-700hp that struggle to reach 300 LOL! What a masterpiece, what a gem this S85!!!
Electric cars literally need 1000+hp to hit that speed (looking at you Tesla Plaid!) and even then it has to be the Track Package version. 😂

To be fair, the speedo is very optimistic. 330kmh on speedo is 300kmh gps.

I borrowed the E60 M5 V10 from a buddy for a week (about 10 years ago now); the V10 engine is truly something else, and the memories of having that car on road trips through the west coast was magnificent and still lives with me to this day.
Hope you returned it with a full tank and nicely detailed

Yeah that looks way faster than it is advertised. I wouldn't be surprised if that engine is stroked out to 5.2L.
@@desertsandfly2277 probably yes. it has 40hp more than stock. thats a lot for an NA engine. i doubt that all comes from the intake.

@@SirPeekALot_ its the long tube headers, hence the deeper sound. With a tune you get around 40hp on a healthy S85.
I wish I was as optimistic about life as these old BMW speedos...

I was thinking the same, then double checked the video, when the speedo is at 330 the GPS is at 315. Impressive for the horsepower how fast this car gets up to that speed.

Yes 315 kmh is still very good for ~550 hp. For instance Audi RS6 performance with 630hp and 850Nm struggle to hit that speed.

As we watch before our own eyes the Cubanization of the whole automotive industry, the cars built in the early 21st century will probably go down in History as the pinnacle of the art.
As more and more people see cars as electric appliances that will save us all from doom, this will leave the motoring art form to the enthusiastic part of our society.
This M6 is one of those epic vehicles that in 50 years will probably be a museum piece, with it's truly bonkers V10, utter violent gearbox and dismal fuel consumption ❤❤ those were the days and we lived through them without knowing.
Love the work in this channel, only the Dutch could do it and those shots from the bridge are a fantastic idea as it gives a sense of scale. Was it the first time on the show? I don't remember watching them here before.
One of the best engines ever build!
One of the few cars that look better with body modifications. Grand effects, mirrors, roof, wing, wheels and etc. (Carbon) Looks like a 2008 car without them. One of BMWs nicest looking vehicles in the correct setup.

Got the one of this car at my garage in Poland, but with the US custom exhaust which sound different. Its wild in this car that with FI exhaust u got screaming clean,, Brilliant make different sound like more metalic and my us pipes make more bass sound. That a cool, best engine by me so far if you can afford to keep it clean

(Most) V10s sound awkward on idle
I love the E60 M5 and the e63 M6. They share S85 V10 engine. However, both have some chronic problems. Especially the E63, if not maintained properly, it may cause serious headaches. You need to take care of that like a baby. 😄 Rather than M6, I prefer to own M5
Aside of the V10 - I remember the 6 series was badly acclaimed by the public in terms of aestethics but it’s now a legend - maybe the new M2 G87 will follow the same path😊
