- We waited out Hurricane Ian in our Manufactured Home in North Lakeland, Florida. I documented the progression of the hurricane as well as the aftermath in our community.
Thanks for posting
I can stop holding my breath now, Gail, knowing you're safe. Thanks for posting this, and I hope your neighbors have insurance that will pay for repairs/damage.
Thanks so much for documenting this. I'm in Pittsburgh, PA and my family lives in Bradenton. I'm looking to move to Lakeland in the next few months. Thanks Dan and Gail! Glad you're safe.
We used to live in Bradenton.many years ago. We love Lakeland. Glad you are going to move here.
Oh so glad you all were safe and well I reside in the Highlands Lakeland area and we also didn't lose power fortunately where we are is rental blogs at Century Ariva off of community rd and bartow hwy across from Polk state university, I was watching your video to see how communities like yours hold up I may be heading into that market to purchase I'm tired of renting such a waste of money. Thanks and God bless
Most of us made out ok in the hurricane, just minor damage to carports & lanais. If you are thinking of moving to a manufactured home community, understand that in most places you do have to pay lot rent (includes pool, clubhouse, etc.) but own your home. Still a bargain in this market, though.
@@dangailhitthetrail2756 oh thank you Gail yes I'm Aware and you're right it's still better than renting glad you all are ok, blessings
I found your channel this morning and subscribed (and rang the bell). My family and I love coming to Florida, and my wife and I want to retire in a 55+ in central Florida when we're able.
I'm glad to see your home was spared, and I will pray for your neighbors. I heard Gov. DeSantis say Ian was the worst hurricane in Florida history. May God keep you all safe.
Thank you for joining us. We love living here in a 55+ manufactured home community. Lots of friends and activities. We are thankful that we were spared much of the wrath of Ian, and our hearts go out to those on the coastal areas that were harmed. We had to cancel our next camping trip (Venice area) due to Ian, so it may be a little while before or next video.
Thank you. My dughtr lives there and isnt very communicative as she works so hard six days a week. I appreciate your post. Prayers for all affected.
Hello from south lakeland near plant city 😀
Hi, neighbor. Hope you survived Ian without damage. Thanks for watching.
My best friend lives one street over from you. She lost the roof of her lanai and carport; but thankfully she and her sister are safe. Both are disabled.
In fact you showed her house! My best friend is Angel's sister.
Yes, I know who you mean. They are fine. The roof can be repaired.
what community do you live in? Looks beautiful!?
Rode it out in my RV I live in Davenport, and when the eye passed by the RV was being rocked by the wind. Each time a band of wind would hit I would feel the RV lifting and being pushed as if it was going to be turned over, Next time RV and I are taking off.
Glad you are safe.
Might want to check out Mulberry and Polk City in Polk County.
Been hiking on the Van Fleet trail in Polk City. Haven't been to Mulberry yet.
What are your favorite type of gym Sandles or shoes that aren't brand new? Be safe. I don't know how to mop nor play basketball that tall
What community is this. I am planning on relocating to that area in a couple months. That looks like a nice park that allows dogs
Hi, Helen This is Lakeland Harbor, just off of I4, on 33. Great community. All size dogs allowed as long as they are not aggressive. Very dog friendly, and people friendly as well. Lots of activities and a great clubhouse and pool.
I have been looking at that park for awhile but there are not many openings. I just need a nice safe park that allows 2 large non aggressive dogs. It's hard to find a place in Lakeland Davenport or Haines City that allows large dogs. Thanks and I'm glad you are all safe
@@dangailhitthetrail2756 I know I don't know you but I figured I would ask if you or any of your friends know of any parks in the area's I mentioned that allows large dogs. I have been looking at places and reading reviews. I have to say it's been a challenge being out of state. It's hard to trust reviews. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to be down there sooner than later. Thanks and Happy New Year
@@helenneal8900 Large dogs welcome here. There are a few places for sale here, as well. You could contact any of the 3 agents who sell the homes (not the land, that is rented). All 3 also live here. Check on the internet to learn more. I would warn you to come here and see for yourself, rather than buy sight unseen on the internet. These are older places, some in great shape and some need some work. All double wides.
I was wondering how long you have lived in the park. Have you had any issues. I read some reviews about office staff being rude and difficult and about the lot rent being raised often. You seem like you like it there I was just wondering if you ran into any of those issues
Of course, as of 10/05 we know there are at least 100 people who won't be riding out any more hurricanes! Each time is a roll of the dice, and it's only giong to get worse. It's understandable that you're relieved, but not even a mention of the devastation to your south! I guess maybe when you completed this, you didn't yet know what happened.
I am very concerned, of course, with the devastation throughout Florida. This video was made during and directly after the hurricane. I kept it only to what went on in our specific neighborhood, and posted it immediately thereafter. We were very lucky to be spared, but I am aware that our good fortune resulted in the misfortune of others. There are many videos showing the horrible destruction that the hurricane caused, and my heart goes out to the people who were impacted.
It did get far worse at night this was many hours before it passed by. You dodged a bullet though it shifted far to the east at the last minute however they are unpredictable it could have hit you directly you where always in the cone. Please next time a hurricane hits don't stay in a trailor it can cost you your life. I know from years of hurricanes. I survived catagory 5 andrew in a kitchen cabinet. I was in a concrete building and it was shredded to peices. With that said even catagory 1 strength can destroy a mobile home I saw a few mobile homes in lakeland auburndale and winter haven that got the roofs blown off and lakeland only received tropical storm force not even hurricane force. Trailors are a real death trap in any strength hurricane beleive me. Had I stayed in a mobile home each time during a direct hurricane hit I would have been killed 10 times already. Born and raised in Florida I know not to take hurricanes lightly from decades of experience!!! It's my mission to save lives for those who listen and don't want to learn the hard way.
This is not Cypress Lakes MHC is it?
No. Lakeland Harbor. Cypress Lakes is a little north of us on HWY 98.
