Hey what's up man. The wheels are Proline MX43 Badlands made for the Traxxas Xmaxx. The wheel center hole needs drilled with a step drill bit to 18mm so they fit 5th scale wheel hexes. You will also need new wheel hexes to change stock MT from 23mm to 5th scale standard 24mm. You can either use four rear Rovan baja wheel hexes for a standard offset. Or you can get DGI 1 inch extenders like I did. The extenders give the truck more stability and I have yet to find a 24mm hex wheel that didn't work on the MT. I would suggest getting the DGI extenders personally. Look on their website. They have a listing for Rampage MT. They have up to a 3 inch extension I do believe. It looks ridiculous IMO
Thanks for the feedback man , at least now I'm pointed in the right direction. I feel like these monster tires are the biggest wear and tear problem I've got so this should help. Ever heard of independent trax for rampage
@@jnitram8321 exactly! That is why I quit using the stock wheels. They are the heavy. They are heavier than the bigger Losi MTXL wheels. The Badlands are much lighter and still tall enough to keep a bit of the monster truck look. As far as tracks on a MT I have never seen it.
Typically it is casted into the side of the head. Not necessarily the size. But at least the maker. It will say HY on stock Redcat. If it was changed for a different engine it may say CY or Zenoah. Do you need an engine?

Do you have a Rampage MT? Mine were 23mm hex originally. I used DGI 1 inch wheel extenders which are 24mm to fit most 5th scale wheels. Hey my friend question for you ? Do you still have the belt drive set ? And if your not interested in it anymore, are you willing to sale it ? If so for how much because I'm interested in buying.
What is up! I have the belt system installed currently. Very hard to find item these days. It isn't the answer to the issue but it is better than the available gears. There is a lot of drag in the belt system. Wish ya luck finding one.
@@SteelCityRC Yeah your wright bruh, I have the belt system as well and one of my best friends is wanting one and I've thought of you because like you said, it's hard finding things to but these days.
I've gotten 4 steal wired belts and I've only used one of them so far and it haven't broken yet even after hard driving it in all conditions even a Corry and that's with out the cover ! Had it on for 3months now and still holding on.
@@eugenewaller7257 nice. I have similar belts with the steel wire in them. They are clear and the wire is visible. I broke one of those belts so far from a small rock getting into a grubscrew hole in the belt pulley. One thing I noticed with the clear belt, they stretch a bit more than the black rubber and vinyl cord belts. My issue with the belt is breaking the clutch bell shaft pin. Happened at least two times from memory.
That sucks about the gears. I've been lucky with mine but I'm just running a stock G290/DDM pipe through it. I'm not sure if they are even around anymore but years ago guys were using Mcd gears, not sure what model they came off of though. I remember seeing a picture of one that had the steel gears on it, they looked like much better quality. Anyways I hope you can figure something out for it, that truck really rips with your engine/pipe setup!
Thanks Jeff! The gears are ok till the wheels start to hop. Then add more power than it should. Boom. The MCD gears. I saw the same gearing chart picture you did. Probably 10 years ago they were available. I have never seen them available. Appreciate you stopping by
@@SteelCityRC its a good engine, obviously really reliable but just doesn't have a good amount of grunt to it for a heavier truck. In a baja 5b it'll pull the wheels up quite easy. I'll definitely go to a stock G320 for the MT when this engine is done.

The Redcat electric you are talking about. The R5? I hear good and bad about it. Mainly. People out of the box go bash it. Redcat is a no go doing that. It needs torn down and loctite applied. @@MrPlumloko I see. I call it the clutch bell shaft. I broke two of those also.
What oil you mix with the v p racing fuel
Hello. I use Maxima Castor 927 mixed 25:1 with VP 4 cycle fuel which is 94 octane and ethanol free. Thanks for stopping by 👊 🤘
Hi sir I need to know where tu buy belt drive for my new MT PLEASE??
It looks like the seller has discontinued the belt system. It isn't much of an upgrade as it breaks transmission shafts off. Appreciate you stopping by 👊 🤘
@@SteelCityRC thanks so much for the advice
Where could I get wheel setup for my MT ? Love the monsters but wanna try smaller setup
On these motors is there a size of the motor on the block or the cylinder head or both ? Looking at a used motor Thanks for your quick response Jeff
Typically it is casted into the side of the head. Not necessarily the size. But at least the maker. It will say HY on stock Redcat. If it was changed for a different engine it may say CY or Zenoah. Do you need an engine?
@@SteelCityRC yah would like to build a fire breathing motor that runs on alcohol? Nitrous? When my son was younger he had pocket bikes that used the same style 2 stroke engines,I modified those engines with advanced timing keys and carb hop ups and they flat out ripped even with a rider
@@jeffsariego7475 I see. I would look at the Zenoah g320 for more torque or the Zenoah g290 for higher RPM. Both when modified push very well. Can get a longblock relatively cheap on ddm racing website.
Where you get your pipe ?
Hey how ya doing? That is an Olimat tuned pipe from Australia. Ordered it online a couple months later it arrived. I had a DDM Dominator pipe for a couple years. Wanted to change it up a bit. Thanks for stopping by!!
what tires and wheels are you using
Proline Badlands mx43. Thanks for watching
What's up Steel City. What brand/model pipe your running on this MT. I have the DDM pipe on mine.
What's up! I used a ddm Dominator for years. Wanted to switch it up. This is an Olimat pipe on there now. Appreciate you stopping by!!
I have the rampage mt and its sure as hell not that fast..Any ideas?
Hello. I have had this truck quite some time. I put a Zenoah g320 engine in there. Then put an ESP ported head kit on it. A Walbro 990 carb and Olimat tuned pipe using Redcat Dunerunner gears. Appreciate you stopping by 👊🤘
What’s the pipe on that?
Hello. The pipe is Olimat. Appreciate you stopping by 👊 🤘
IF I may ask, what kid) type wheel hexes/hubs/adapters do u use? Mine r still original redcat 4 sided square.
Thx n advance!
Do you have a Rampage MT? Mine were 23mm hex originally. I used DGI 1 inch wheel extenders which are 24mm to fit most 5th scale wheels. The XT has square hexes I do believe which they need Ramtec adapters to be able to use 24mm hex wheels. Here is the Ramtec link for XT to 24mm hex baja etc. wheels. www.ebay.com/itm/RAMTech-RC-Redcat-Rampage-XTC-Adapters-for-Baja-Rims-Chimera-XB-XT-XB-E-XR-R5-/293540341468
@@SteelCityRC
MY bad, no sir mine is the xt. 5 years old, new a month ago. According to the date on the originals reciever battery. LOL
@@old-rcplane-phart ok. Follow that link in my last comment. It will allow you to use 24mm hex 5th scale wheels of your choice.
@@SteelCityRC thank u again!!
@@old-rcplane-phart no problem RC brother
How fast did it go stock? .. And how fast is it go now with all the parts & upgrades you put on it?
Hello. The truck stock went 35mph top speed. Now it will go 43mph. It has a lot more torque than the stock engine had and different gear ratio. Thanks for stopping by!!
what would you say is top speed on stock MT motor vs the zen? is it a noticable difference and worth it?
Sup man. The top speed would be similar. A Zenoah would just get you there faster and much more reliably. There is a reason most small bore engine fab shops choose Zenoah. Appreciate you stopping by 👊🤘
Hey my friend question for you ?
@@SteelCityRC oh wow really, I haven't had that issue yet, goungbto keep an eye out.
hi bro! nice truck! what oil viscosity do you use in differentials?
Thanks! I use 20k front and 15k rear. I use Losi diff oil. Thanks for stopping by
Nice rig what wheels and tires are you running
Thanks! The wheels are Proline Badlands mx43 made for the Xmaxx. Appreciate you stopping by
That sucks about the gears.
Appreciate you stopping by
So how do you like the g290 in the Rampage MT? I always wanted to try that engine in something
@@SteelCityRC its a good engine, obviously really reliable but just doesn't have a good amount of grunt to it for a heavier truck. In a baja 5b it'll pull the wheels up quite easy. I'll definitely go to a stock G320 for the MT when this engine is done.
I've got the blackout mt it's the same truck just rebranded you can get heavy duty high torque gears they look alot thicker but are still powder steel part number is mv24156 if you want to check em out.
Awesome man. Thanks! Do the gears ride on a square or four pins to drive them?
@@SteelCityRC the stock gears same as you stripped are on squares so these should be aswell I'm going to order a set before I start my build gonna sacrifice a bit of top speed but I mainly hill climb and jump so not a problem for me anyway
How much money you got into this thing not including the price of the truck itself?
Hey how ya doing. I am not sure how much money is wrapped up in this truck. I'd say I have an extra grand $$? I have had it four years or so. I haven't really put too much money in it the past two or three years. Only so much that can be done to it. It is my favorite though. Appreciate you stopping by to check out my truck. 👊🤘
@@SteelCityRC I watched your other videos that discussed the upgrades you had done to it. You listed all the upgrades in the description and when I look some of them up, def some pricey stuff. I was thinking at least 1.5k. You swapped the engine right? It’s not the stock engine.
Yes I did switch the engine. But I put it together myself. Longblock Zenoah g320 $250 ported head kit $80
@@SteelCityRC prices have gone up on all that stuff now it looks like. But yea man good work. Where you located. Would love to meet up if you aren’t to far away. I’m in VA.
I am in Pittsburgh, Pa. You ever up North be sure to hit me up
need to send you this drone i got so you can do some videos...!
Sup man! Long time no see bro. A drone. Man I would destroy it lol. I had a Traxxas Aton that I intended to put a gopro on once I learned how to fly it. I flew it once in slow/camera mode. I was petrified with anxiety the whole time. It had GPS and all. Self landing etc. But I hated it. Sold it off
Not sure if these are any help, probably different gearing but couldn't see if they are still the square drive or not. Does state steel gears. [ Hsp Rc 1/5 Gas Car Buggy Bajer Metal Gear Box 054096 M ]
That is a big help actually. Yes the Rampage MT is square drive like the HSP. I just put a transmission together with the HSP high speed gears. They seem pretty stout. Haven't installed in the truck yet though. My latest video actually covers the install of the HSP gear set. Check it out. Thanks brother 👊🤘
just for fun convert to rear wheel drive only i did mine its mental spins on a dime lol
Sup man! I ran this rwd once a few years ago. With stock MT tires all it did was spin. Then when it did move well it would spin out. Then I stripped the rear diff lmao. I haven't done it since. Maybe in dirt it would be fun. But in grass it was no fun to me. Thanks for stopping by 👊 🤘
Is that bigger than the X max? Also did they ever come out with a new electric one that wasn’t shitty? Lol I had watch some reviews on the electric one and everyone said that it kept breaking for some reason. I also said that the gas powered one was really good
This MT is slightly longer than the Xmaxx. It obviously weighs more. About 10 pounds. The axles and diffs are bigger etc. But height. The Xmaxx got it. At least how I have my body set up on the MT. The Redcat electric you are talking about. The R5? I hear good and bad about it. Mainly. People out of the box go bash it. Redcat is a no go doing that. It needs torn down and loctite applied. Most of the R5 issues were just that. Screws and grubscrews working loose causing problems. They never did re-release another brushless 5th scale. In fact deleted many. No more XB-E XT-E or XR-E. Dunerunner is gone.. Think they sell three 5ths now. Kinda sad really. Hope it has to do with the pandemic and will subside. Thanks for the great comment!!
Here is a Monster Truck comparison video I made recently. Check it out

Steel City RC whoa , Asome sauce, thanks for all the good info. That sucks they discontinued all those.. maby there going to Come out with a bunch of competition for the ARRMA fifth scale line LOL. I only have one red cat and it’s the scout 10th scale brushless crawler.. it’s been amazing a reliable and beat the hell out of it and just keeps on chugging. I have a X max and was looking to get something else in the fifth scale range , too have sum races.. I hear the ARRMA’s are good and everything I just don’t really like them and I don’t know why.. maybe I would if I tried it or some thing
@@bradforester3635 I have the Outcast 8S. It is pretty fun with the bigger pinion it comes with and maxed out punch. But the plastics are weak. The front lower arms break and the turnbuckles in the rear push into the plastic eyelets. I have a Xmaxx too. It is by far more durable than the Outcast. I find myself reaching for the Xmaxx much more. Oh and BTW I have a a Redcat Crawler too. My only one. Not my gig. It is the HW Axe edition Scout.
I know messed up gears were disappointing. Too bad. I certainly was enjoying the rip session. That thing was gettin it🤣.
Right. It at least ran good 😄. I need to get some upgraded gears for it. Hit a machine shop locally hope for answers soon. Thanks for checking out my truck!!
Does anyone make OR have something that works instead of the stock gears?
TOO, I discovered a while ago, (20+ yrs ago) when driving anything large, (planes for me 20 years ago), keep 2 or 3 foot of bunjee or rope with you. WHEN they die or, in our case, break/break down, u/WE don't gotta carry that heavy beast back. WE can pull it.
Hello. I am in the process of talking to a local machine shop to make hardened gears. As of now nothing is available that I know of. There was a company in Germany that made a belt drive but I think they quit making it.. But ya man. A dog leash or in my case a MOD drag strap is always in my cargo pocket. Way too heavy to carry long distances lol. I got the strap from DDM Racing deal of the day along with a slew of other 5th scale parts. Thanks for stopping by 🤘👊
Find a motion industries and they’d probably have the chain and sprockets in stock
Give it a try and let me know please. I would appreciate the feedback thanks

Wow if it wasn't for them gears going out, I'm not buying red cat I know things don't last but if you haven't had it 6 months and you are having problems,, me personally will not be buying
Hey what's up. I have had this truck for five years. I love it. But yes the transmission gears are weak. No doubt. Not sure what you are looking for. But the Losi 5iveT is the King of 5th scale. Check it out. If you want a monster truck take a look at the Rovan XLT. Thanks for stopping by!!
