I have watched hundreds and hundreds of his rap reactions. And even if the channel usually only does rap, it takes them 1-2 songs, and they start comparing him to the greats and after not many saying that there could literally be 1-5 rappers ever to live with a skill level, and lyrics and, god you’ll see. You have to watch that, or “Losing it”, and others will recomend many.
What is the craziest of all is his lyrics, his words, the type of person we all dream of being, and that’s after him suffering more than you could wrap your mind around. He was bedridden for 10 years in his 20s. His story is well known, but to have been watching his health journey, since I’ve been watching for 2 years, you will see why every reactor also find his story and they fall in love all over again. His story and his empathy has brought the world together more than any other artist ever.

@@LetsGoEers3 just a quick note; he was horrifically sick for 8 years, a few of which he was mostly not able to go very far from his bed (he says "spent 95% of his life in his bedroom") which - as a chronically ill person myself - is an important distinction to most of us. ❤ And when he wasn't in one of those Worst Years, but was still really sick, he was definitely massively limited in what he could do/how long he could keep it up, and could very easily end up in bed again.
Just wanted to offer the exact info (as best as I understand it anyway)! You weren't claiming anything overblown or making anything up, but some of the nuances are important to people with chronic illnesses in terms of how our stories are told. ♥

He was misdiagnosed for several years when in reality he had Lymes Disease. It caused psychosis and a long list of physical symptoms that he is undergoing many treatments to try and reverse the damage as much as possible.

Regarding it being “disturbing”. Ren does indeed delve into some very uncomfortable, even excruciating, topics. But it is not graphic or disturbing just for the sake of it… There is always a message. And, to me, that message is typically holding a mirror in front of our faces, bringing topics that are too often ignored into the forefront to be seen, to be deeply felt, to be confronted and, in some cases, to hopefully be prevented. The Tales trilogy is the perfect example of that. VERY difficult to watch. But I have seen it start some very important and very real conversations… Conversations that absolutely should be had.
The money game trilogy is another example.
Ren is an incredibly authentic, genuine, and pretty transparent person. He is very engaged and he truly does want to make a positive difference in peoples lives. He is a rare and special individual… So much so that it can even be seen within his fan base.
He has Shakespearean levels of talent that could very well lead to him standing among the greatest that have ever been. And I do not say that lightly. But I think it is his humanity and his empathy that have really dug deep and touched people and even changed people. The dude is just DIFFERENT. I imagine that you’ll see that for yourself very soon. I just wanted to say welcome to the community of Ren and if you think the story behind the artist is just as important as the music, man is REN’s story about to blow your mind! So enjoy the ride. Your commentary was so insightful I’m sure you’re going to get a big response to this. Count me in!
Ren can do it all. He is an independent artist (i.e. his success was achieved without help from a record label). Also, many of his videos are done in one take; they may use multiple camera angles and it might take them several attempts to get a take they like, but the final product contains the audio & video from that take. Many artists record the audio in the studio, then lip sync for the video. There's nothing wrong with that, but with a lot of Ren's videos, what you see is closer to a live performance.
Ren's been making music for a long time. Which means that when you finally discover him, there's plenty to dig into! Loved your reaction, subbed for MORE REN!
Just so you know, Ren doesn't copyright any of his stuff. He believes that once his dropped it out there to us , it's ours, so there is no need to be filtering the screen.

Did you see Rens announcement he failed his new Lyme test and has to come back to Canada, he felt super run down and sick after his show and then got the bad news that the treatment didn't work and he has to come back here for more aggressive treatment, he also just found out the audio guys messed up and caught no sound from his garden party show which just crushed him, he said he's really struggling right now with his mental health as well. So sad ❤

Ren is an amazing human being and artist, unfortunately his health is still an issue. At the end of October he will be going back to Canada for treatment again. He still has secondary infections from Lyme and other autoimmune issues.
I found him in July and he has really changed my life. Renegades are amazing as well…some of the most beautiful supportive people and fans of a beautiful person.
Ren is a multi genre/instrumentalist box of chocolates. He can make you laugh, make you cry,make you think and/or make you dance and sometimes all in the same song 🎶

I think you should listen to the trilogy (its all in one video) called "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" but that's a rough one also. BUT after that I think you should listen to "Animal Flow" to hear more of his fun side, and it's also much more hip-hop based. Watch his "Sick Boi" before it disappears again off RUclips. Long story about that to dig in to that will blow your mind, and anger you, like it did all his fans. A lot of his music does deal with mental illness/pain/medicine/greed/some philosophical/some religious subjects. Some of his music - before he became ill - was the fun stuff, his busking, singing cover songs while also writing his own music and creating beats. He is a pure poet. You will find out more just by watching his videos. You will either laugh out loud or cry real tears. But you will never be bored. Thanks so much for reacting to Ren. He will soon be back in Canada for more medical treatment. On his home page community section he tells of his sadness of finding out his lab results were not great.

Man, your honesty is why I'm subscribed. I knew before I hit play this would low key break you. It broke me for sure my first time watch. Ren definitely made a statement that few can articulate this well. Lots to reflect on. Be nice to your fellow humans. You never know.
You're right, Ren is often a little heartbreaking, he's so open with himself in order to try to help others. He just announced today he has to go back into treatment for his Lyme and that is so sad for him. He *does* have his share of lighthearted music, though. Also? Dude plays like 7 instruments and dabbles in just about every genre.
People are always going to suggest Ren's storytelling/bardcore songs first and by all means... but here are some less traditional suggestions -
Troubles - An overview of his struggles. People say you have to watch his 2ish hour autobiography videos that better explain it... and they are great, if devastating... but Troubles is like the synopsis and it can stand alone and introduce you to the man.
Money Game Part 2 Live at Sky Arts - Ren's first televised performance, just last week. Showing he isn't selling out, he decided to take his messaging against greed to a fancy awards show audience. Crazily, he decided to do it with just himself, live, and an acoustic guitar - and slow it down to be sure everyone understood him ✊🏻
Halftime (Nas Retake) - I love watching real rap fans find this one, because they go in skeptical but it shows them the respect Ren has for the genre.
The Hunger - is Ren flexing. The common reactor reaponse is "Ren can rap rap?"
Illest Of Our Time is about bars, The Tales are storytelling, Money Game 1-3 are his counterculture message to the world, Genesis tends to be a huge hit with rappers, Chalk Outlines and Back To 74 are singing, Losing It is him having fun on an EDM beat.

Ren has a few videos explaining his history and what he went through. The chapters are pretty informative. He also has many music videos about it. Really liked your video and what you had to say.
Ren realises the value of reaction channels, he never copyright strikes, enjoyed your reaction, have a look at the hunger,or genesis, for the rapping, jenny and screech for storytelling, theres so much. Hes been ill with lyme disease for years and yesterday discovered that his last round of treatment has failed, so we wont be seeing much of him for a while. His story is far more detailed than i can tell you on here, have fun finding out💙🇬🇧

He does all genres...rock, blues, soul, jazz, HipHop, Raggae etc ! He plays classical guitar and electric guitar and bass guitar and piano and drums! Well first of all
I wouldn´t say Eminem was the first white rapper accepted by black people...
What about the Beasty Boys... they were around since Rap became from an underground movement to an established musical art form in the early + mid 80ties, they toured at the legendary Def Jam tours together with all the big Hip Hop groups and rappers of that time like Run DMC, Public Enemy, Eric B & Rakim, EPMD, LL Cool J to name just a few. They existed from the early 80ties till 2012 until a group member died of cancer and they released 8 Albums which all of them were a banger.
They are also part of those rap groups and rappers who entered the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Eminem as well by the way but years later obviously.
By the way Ren has one track giving hommage to the Beasty Boys titeled "What you want" which is actually the title of a well known Beasty Boy track from the early 90ties..but it is no cover version, Ren´s hommage is that it is sounding like a Beasty Boy track in behalf of the beat and in behalf of his rap flow which is mimicing the flow of the Beasty Boys.
You are a young dude and obviously you didn´t experience the beginning of Hip Hop in the early 80ties and the rise of Hip Hop in the 90ties so you can´t be blamed for that, but I´m old so I´m a time witness and as such I´m telling you now Eminem was not "the first" accepted by black folks but the Beasty Boys were. And after the Beasty Boys there were also the group "House of Pain" as well, and their track "Jump around" you will probably recognize instantly, when you hear it because it became a legendary all time Hip Hop track where the chorus is now often used in Sports events or other fun events in order to cheer up the crowd that´s why I guess you will recognize it instantly.
But according to the Beasty Boys : Absolutely everyone who experienced Hip Hop from the 80ties on knows them and highly respects them as important part of the Old school Hip Hop culture history no matter if fan of them or not and no matter if white folks or black folks. not that I have any say so in the matter. but listening to your reaction I'd recommend "Hunger", "Murderer", then "Suicide". You're going to get a lot of people yelling for "The Tale of Jenny & Screech", but id start with the ones I listed, first.
Not all of his music is this heavy. Try Power, Back on 74 and I shot the Sheriff with his group the Big Push.
Thanks for a lovely thoughtful reaction to a fantastic song. This was the second song I heard from Ren and it got me hooked. I get your needing to be in the right head space to dive in fully. He puts his whole soul into his music and it is a place where he processes some of the most painful parts of his life. Having said that, Ren also has a sense of humour and has made some very uplifting tracks. I suggest you take a look at Power, and an original song on the Big Push's channel, It's Alright. Also, check out Ren and Sam Tompkins busking (live street performance for donations) - they did a great cover of Man's World etc.

Btw Captions are bad as they are often wrong or can not keep up. Ren puts lyrics in comments of videos. 😊
You also do not need to shade or stop videos. Ren lets content creators monetize his videos and will reverse any issue if YTube is stupid. He has a whitelist you can ask to be put on. 😊❤
