Ive a Roadster and Plaid S deposits down and went to Test Model 3 performance at the weekend. You know I missed the grunt of the P85 it so surprised me the model 3 was great but not that great for me as Im used to driving bigger cars (300c Chrysler was last one) but this all goes to show electric drive trains for me are such fun, so controllable, and Teslas are mental performance as stock.
Versus the C7 ZR1 would have been a better race. The z51 had no chance. I'd still rather have the C8. It's better looking and has enough giddy up to make it fun on the street. It's also cheap for what you're getting (100k on average). Corvettes are the best value when it comes to super cars.
Skip 741 yes that plaid is CRAZY quick ( notice I didn't say FAST) in a QUARTER MILE race, because in a TOP SPEED run, the vette would smoke the Tesla like a cheap cigar. COMING, top end RIGHT now is 164 m. p.h. verified top end of vette, depending on test publication used between 188 and 191 m.p.h.!! Don't believe me?, Look it up. I feel it's only fair to include ALL performance data. Ha ha !!!! P.s. video was very well done!!!!!! Cheers!!!!
Hi skip 741, actually I was wrong a bit before on my recollection of the top speed of a c8. It's actually, and this is verified, 194 m.p.h!. And this from a car with a list price of about 66 thousand dollars? And, it can FLY around corners, unlike a porky 2 and a half ton plaid. Not bad, not bad at all!
I have a 2022 C8 but this is No contest. And the C8 Z06 is also no match. Any damn Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, or $3 mil Buggatti does not defeat Plaid in a drag race from a dead start. But Teslas are all about bragging rights. Owners of Teslas drive them like old grannies because they are always checking their charge.

well you can race any car ( in stock condition ), even chiron and tesla would still win a quater mile. ofc chiron will take it in longer run cause it has a higher topspeed but quater mile, there's no competition
Nobody ever does a top speed run, or a standing mile or a road course in these things. Because then they get walked. And then Musk's internet brigade comes for you. Can't have that. C8 top speed: 194mph Plaid top speed: 175mph
There are plenty of videos showing 1/2 mile races in the Plaid where it is riding at 175 mph for a lot of the race. When they finally extend the limiter to 200, it’s game over.
Wow. Really impressed with the results. I was born in 1991. Corvettes were the fastest cars in my time for over 10 years straight. For once, they lose. But to reassure myself. If there was a zombie apocalypse, I wonder which car would last longer. Definitely not the Tesla. A motor car can be handled by humans that were mechanics before the apocalypse AND the car can go for awhile if you can siphon gas from other cars. Where will you find a spare Tesla battery? Almost impossible
Lol you definitely want a tesla. Especially with teslas power wall and solar home system, where are you going to find gas in a year when it's all used up at the stations? You can just use a solar pannel for 30 years to charge your car with a battery that can handle 20 years, or use gas to power a generator and do it that way, also a EV is much more quite, you can also fix them despite people thinking they can't, tesla trains 3rd party repair shops to repair their cars.

See what happens on a track with the plaid. It’s not good at all. In fact it’s dangerous. Poor handling and braking along with power steering going out. It’s not a race car though it does well in a straight line.
It's the only production electric car made with a nurburgring record, it can be upgraded with carbon ceramic brakes and cup2s for the record 4 door time.
I love Teslas....but just think, at 171K you could have 2 C 8's for that price. You could buy income property for that. Seems every couple of months another 5-10 K is added to Tesla's price. Somebody is really getting milked. I do recommend buying Tesla stock though, it's finally going back up.
If that's true that's 33 passes and an 8.3 mile range. I don't think I've ever done 33 passes in one night. Late night when the crowd lessens you possibly could do that many. I guess its more close to a ICE engine in that your probably gonna be limited by heat and not so much by fuel capacity. I don't know how much slower a Plaid is at 25% vs 100% though.
@@turboleggy It would be an extreme fire hazard to run more than a few quarters in any Tesla. That doesn't make the projected range more than a few miles when pushing the car a little. EVs are not ready for prime time. Maybe with 30x the realistic range and a 10x the battery life, plus safe batteries that cost a few thousand to replace instead of $80,000 for a new Plaid battery every few years. How about do your research Elon advertised it as a drag car it even has drag strip mode on it bozo
@@ericship8383 just cause it has that mode doesn't fully label it a drag car. The model 3 and y have trakx mode, they're not track weapons out the box. it doesn't matter you doing sports mode or not you are twice horsepower as the Stingray. the Vette won't stand a chance on drag race, but track is another story. Model S Plaid does quarter Mile in like 9.4s, it's way faster even than the 911 Turbo S. But 170k on a electric car, nah, man, never.......
the model s plaid is 130k!!!! is still a lot of money, but just like he said in the video, for the specs its the best money can buy!!! and having in count that is like a family sedan, with those specs, makes it super cool!!! still, super expensive but once again, in terms of price/performance is the best out there. could be wrong but at least it seems!!!
130k and does 9.2s on the street at full charge, with carbon ceramic brakes it could likely take the 4 door record at the nurburgring.
The plaid is not a sport car, is it still a family highway car built for practicality and safety 4800lbs keeps it from being a real track car but turn it into a road missile
And that $170,000 is before financing it for 84 months! Make it over $180,000 you get what you pay for ..but it's just way too pricey 👎

Huh? The new Corvette Z51 has a 6.2L DOHC variable timing motor. That is not a pushrod engine. I woud've agreed with you a few years back but this is not the situation in 2022. The Stingray is an absolute monster.

And yet - higher top speed, faster Nurburgring lap time. Turns, BRAKES, interior doesn't suck, did I mention turns and brakes? Oh the Tesla tries those too... until its eats its tires or ends up off the side of the road.
But nobody ever shows that do they? Its dragrace dragrace dragrace. When you can only do one thing, you do one thing. Over and over and over. Yawn.

The 80s and 90's are over my friend , learn how to live the reality of today. This C8 is a HORRIBLE car for drag racing, that's about it. all that because of the pushrod engine. Get the track package for the Plaid and see a world of difference.
If the rumors are true just wait for the c8 ZR1 because its supposed to be a 1000hp hybrid. More accurate competition there.
Looking forward to seeing that race!
True, but god knows what Tesla will have out when the ZR1 come out. ZR1s don’t usually come out until towards the end of a Corvette generation.
Great video, that Tesla is so fast! I would still take the Vette though. Looks like the St Thomas track.
St. Thomas track indeed!
Tesla model S Plaid is the best right now
Nah many cars are faster
@@ericship8383 Only ICE car that has managed to beat the Plaid in the 1/4 mile is the $4M Chiron Pur Sport, but still got dusted by the Lucid Sapphire. Rimac Nevera makes even a Chiron SS look like a snail for much cheaper.
Bought a Model S P85 back in 2015 now 125,000 uk miles later its still a hoot to drive. was 4.2 0-60 but 2 years ago an OTA gave it 4.0 0-60 but more to the point Tesla unleashed loads more grunt from the rear only Induction motor so the way this thing goes is old skool leary drift machine which for me is addictive.
It all sounds great .
$125,000 ?
Versus the C7 ZR1 would have been a better race. The z51 had no chance. I'd still rather have the C8. It's better looking and has enough giddy up to make it fun on the street. It's also cheap for what you're getting (100k on average). Corvettes are the best value when it comes to super cars.

Good Lord! seeing the fast c8 getting dusted like its a prius was sad but thats the new reality we are in now
Skip 741 yes that plaid is CRAZY quick ( notice I didn't say FAST) in a QUARTER MILE race, because in a TOP SPEED run, the vette would smoke the Tesla like a cheap cigar. And, this is NOT my silly OPINION but facts; VERIFIED top speed of plaid, only 164 m.p.h.( as of this moment, no pie in the sky b.s. from musk about 200 ( supposedly) m.ph.

C8 top speed: 194mph
Plaid top speed: 175mph
Would love to do that top speed test, but we don’t have a track that’s long enough around here.
There are plenty of videos showing 1/2 mile races in the Plaid where it is riding at 175 mph for a lot of the race. When they finally extend the limiter to 200, it’s game over.
Dragy shows the C8 PDR reads 1.2 secs too fast. Its for entertainment only. Use Dragy, its like $100 you should be able to afford one.
I WOULD LOVE ME A TESLA MODEL S PLAID , TOO BAD I CAN'T AFFORD ONE 😢 THEY ARE JUST SOOOOO SWEET 😊
That is so sad for Vette fanboys that they stand no chance against a nerd car. 😂
not really, it's a track car...

Doller per doller the plaid is a superior car, it has 5 seats.
I totally agree on price for lower end EVs, but for performance EVs like the Plaid, it wins “dollar for dollar” by far. It has a faster 1/4 mile time than the Bugatti Chiron for 20x cheaper.
So corny how so many people complain about the brakes..yeah you're going 160mph, it's going to take couple secs to fully stop..

How is this even a race? Literally the Tesla has a little more than double the HP to the Vette
I love Teslas....but just think, at 171K you could have 2 C 8's for that price. You could buy income property for that. Seems every couple of months another 5-10 K is added to Tesla's price. Somebody is really getting milked. I do recommend buying Tesla stock though, it's finally going back up.
Insane how the Plaid is only $115k in the US now in 2023.
these cars arent even in the same league lol
Using 3% charge per quarter mile, the Tesla has an amazing 5 mile range.

It would be an extreme fire hazard to run more than a few quarters in any Tesla. A 1 oz Li-Ion battery is illegal in airline luggage due to their extreme explosiveness, its hard imagine what 1500lbs of Li-Ion erupting like a nuclear bomb does to your kids.
@@FFE-js2zp Nice. That means you expect EVs to have 9,000 miles of realistic range and have batteries that last at least 150 years…fyi, batteries don’t magically die after 5 years. If you are extremely irresponsible, you might loose like 15% battery health in a decade…….
