Great video. We don't have the Patrol here in the states, and people would scoff at IRS but have to say it was very impressive. I have a 200, and the traction control is a limitation though crawl is pretty impressive. I added F/R lockers which is a complete game changer. Toyota missed the boat on that for sure. Nice work!
Thanks bud 👍 Thanks for sharing your opinions and experience. I think the Y62 equivalent of the Patrol in the States is the Armada, but the Y60 and the Y61 was never sold there in any form.
Aussie Four Wheelers never seen an Armada off road in the US. They seem much larger than the LC, more in line with a Sequoia but may just be appearances or we put more plastic bling on the Armada than the patrol.
You are probably right 😂 to us it seems that Americans like big grilles 😂 The first equivalent to a Y62 Patrol in the US was sold as a luxury version Infiniti QX56 Z62 from 2010, which was later renamed to Infiniti QX80 in 2013. The Y62 was introduced under the Armada nameplate in 2016.
Patrol had the upper hand thanks to its rear locker. Despite having IRS has similar flex to the LC but superior traction with even just 1 locker vs the LC's traction control.
Both were pretty equal as you said, but I think what made the LC200 driver lacking is the traction control. Made the vehicle slip off the line and lose momentum until the TC kicked in. I wouldn't blame the driver, if blame Toyota for not releasing an LC200 with at least one locker.
The different was the rear diff locker. The electronic trac control delay makes look likes suffering to advance, and the diff lock has no delay... Also i think the nissan has a better driver too!
Not true. Toyota has much more wheel travel, stronger suspension than Nissan--nowadays. Also, that Toyota was only equipped with a-trac. Nissan had the rear locker option. The older Patrols were better than this luxury tank.
@@baileycummings2874 you could be right but most of the footage is either from the front or one side, so Im not sure how you can tell. I just went back to watch some and there is a spot where the patrol takes a turn over the rocks and it sure sounds like the diff lock is making that outside rear wheel skip to me. Exactly what my Pajero does on a tight turn with it on. If I had to bet, is say it was on most of the time.
@@DENMONKEY I also think their were a few more variables than that that made the patrol perform better ie: Driver, weight ( land cruiser looked a bit more kitted out), tyres, tyre pressure, and the patrol has a bunch of off-road modes which the cruiser doesn't. I don't the locker was on all the time, but I have a slight feeling the cruiser is twin locked. I heard some say both lockers on at the cruiser?! So yeah dunno. Need more specifics.
Sure, that's definitely one we've talked about, the Y62 should do it easier then the 200 due to the locker alone. But yes let's try and get that done for you.
Personally I'd say the patrol's gear box came out handy since it is an automatic.but for landcruiser its simply clear its manual transmission hence no traction control feature.an automatic 200 series would have done the same like the patrol.no hate..the patrol is a tremendous rig
Good video...and I'd be very happy with either a 200 Cruiser or Y62 Patrol. What I would cry over though would be body damage on those nice trucks! - I'd want a front and rear steel bumper as well as proper rock sliders before using them off road, haha! Just seems a shame to smash-up the standard bumpers when you could save them for if you ever wanted to go back to standard or sell them to someone else. I wouldn't care if they were 4x4s that I didn't like, haha! I presume the Y62 will be getting a bull bar etc. at some point?
ParttimeWizard right up until you try an tow something with it... The rear suspension toes in and creates uneven tyre wear, I imagine this would be extremely annoying to anyone having the change tyres after any pro longed trip
@@kiaranhobbs1155 Easily solved. You put load assist air-bags in the rear coil springs. Pump them up to 50-60 psi when towing and she levels up. Reduce to 5psi when not towing. A cheap ($500), solution that just about all Patrol owners do.
Nissan patrol all the way ‘go Nissan or go home’ thats all I’m going to say 1 question where are you guys testing them would love to know wanting to take out my own 4wd there

@@mikemiloshis772 I m not an automotive engineer although I wanted to be 😊. But I 'll try to explain. HBMC means hydrolic body motion control. So the patrol has all independent front and rear suspension with double wishbones and shockabosorbers. So that means IFS and IRS have much more agility than the rear live axel in land cruiser hence the patrol performs better. Nissan has HMBC While toyota has KDSS. From this vedio I think HMBC is better. As I 've driven the LC200 and wad driven in a patrol I can say the patrol y62 is more comfortable and quieter to travel in. But I am not aware of the durability though as IFS/IRS i feel is not as durable as rear live axle. The lc200 uses IFS (independent front suspension) but the rear is live axel. I do request if someone can do a vedio showing the underbody of both the lc200 and y62 patrol for comparison. I 've requested a few autochannels here. Let's wait and see.
@@chiragsomaraj5121 I didn't notice the lack of flex that an IFS/IRS would normally have. Does the HMBC system use the shocks to independently adjust ride height as well to level the body out and keep wheels planted with traction? If so then that is a very fast ride height system
@@mikemiloshis772 no I doubt if it raises the height if the car! The more flex gives better traction at awkward angles during off road situations. Although I did see another vedio in which land cruiser had more flex than the patrol. The land cruiser I assume has ride height adjustment but That's only the v8 5.7 available in gcc. This is the diesel so I don't think it has. The lc200 in gcc is much more expensive than the y62 patrol. The base model v6 lc200 and the base model LE v8 5.6 patrol are same price here.
LC200 driver inexperienced. The way he drove makes LC less capable 😒😒. I don’t mean y62 is less capable. But because of driver LC one step behind. Love both car
Definitely the Patrol driver had more offroad experience than the Cruiser driver, as well as the knowledge of the terrain. It is a good suggestion to swap vehicles and do it again to see if it's really the vehicles or not.
Love both the cars, I wanna have both of them, both are almost equally capable. BTW did the lc200 have a rear difflock ? Does the y62 also have a rear difflock? What made the y62 more superior?
I still prefer lockers to tcs, especially sharp rocky terrain that can cause heavy damage when you need the wheels to start spinning for tcs to activate.
Were they both as stock as they looked? What I would find interesting is whether anyone has done a fuel economy comparison while driving these together like this. I’m not saying this as a fan boy of Toyota, but as someone who is genuinely weighing up the two and how much extra fuel the Nissan uses in touring and off-road (not when towing a large van) compared to the LC 200 does figure into it. The Toyota is more expensive and has expensive injectors and DPFs that are going to cost big money at some stage, but if you are sucking down enough extra premium unleaded that gets negated over time. Does anyone take note on theses trips how much extra fuel is going into the different cars when travelling in convoy like this?
You should do another video not just rock crawling and technical stuff this video depends on the skill of the driver you should take this two to cape york or tasmania to test there offroad capabilities in water, mud, steep climbs and decents, currogations and other gnarly stuff to test the car's abilities in certain conditions so that we have a fair comparison of the two vihicles. But nice video i have no favor of the two but both did a great job of tackling rock climbs and technical handling
Nissan had rear locker option equipped, Toyota did not. Also, Nissan higher clearance out of the factory. Still, the new Patrol is inferior to it's predisessors. The old Patrols had unparalleled strength. This one's a luxury boat of a thing. I'll take the Landcruiser, superior wheel travel and all....
Nissan edged it, but I dont think there was as much to split them as comments are making out. Most of the differences were driver error. Cruiser didn't actually need the rocks that moved, when he had the second go. Both did well, both hung up in places. Differences not large enough to change the mind of someone who already had their mind made up.
Love the Patrol but I'm very disappointed they don't make it with a diesel and a manual like the older ones.... I don't like boredomaticks and not about to feed a 5.6 liter v8... Otherwise its a great truck and much better looking than the Toyota in my opinion!
The video depicts a clear support for Nissan Patrol’s win. It is with clear intent to fail Toyota Landcruiser. The Toyota driver pushed brakes unnecessarily.
Great Comparison. Question... why did you use a 2017 Patrol but only a 2010 Landcruiser? Wouldn't a better comparison being that of same age? Surely the TC in the 2017 LC is better/more advanced than the 2010. But still loved the video.
It was a 2013 cruiser and it took 3+ months to get this guy to man up and meet up for a face off... seems most 200 owner's go to water when you actually ask them to turn up.
Wheeling Webber nah it’s a 2010 build. Either way, 2017 vs 2017 would have been more comparable. I am interested in looking at the new Patrol in the future though, and judging by the video it looks the goods.
Lockers needed then the Nissan is back where it belongs , in the car yard 🤣🤣🤣... l will put the extra few grand towards the LC 200 and add the lockers ...
Wheeling Webber , Let’s face it there all overpriced especially the cruiser , and it should be equipped with lockers from the factory , lam not knocking the patrol l know they go hard with that engine, But very Thirsty.... Not saying the cruiser is great but a lot better .
When people are paying 80+k for cars not sure economy is a main factor, anyways saw a very good comparison recently between both a 62 and 200 towing the same van on a 3000+km trip and the fuel usage per 100 was 1 litre (yes 1ltr) different over the total trip. The S4 Patrol is really good on juice now getting 10's on highway and 14s around town.
@@WheelingWebber ruclips.net/video/hQvlTzMXvdo/видео.html This link shows the Patrol doing VERY well vs Diesel Cruiser in a towing scenario - I won't spoil it but lets just say I was proven wrong.
That Toyota driver was a little average, needs some training. Also, never stand behind a vehicle when 4wding, you will be eating a bolder if you're not careful. Great post tho thanks.
It's not the driver, it's the vehicle. The factory traction control is not as good as Nissan's factory rear locker and front traction control.
The 200 does flex a lot better than the patrol.
Patrol had the upper hand thanks to its rear locker. Despite having IRS has similar flex to the LC but superior traction with even just 1 locker vs the LC's traction control.
It's a shame Toyota won't include at least one locker even in their Sahara model.
Good drives! Nissan driver seemed like he was a little better ay line and momentum management, but both seemed pretty equal overall.
Both were pretty equal as you said, but I think what made the LC200 driver lacking is the traction control. Made the vehicle slip off the line and lose momentum until the TC kicked in. I wouldn't blame the driver, if blame Toyota for not releasing an LC200 with at least one locker.
@@@AussieFourWheelers That totally makes sense. Easy fix though. What ever happened to the WK? Did it have the Quadra-Drive II?
Yeah, QD2 😎
@@AussieFourWheelers 😎👍
I'd like to see those two vehicles on the same course with the same driver. A more even competition that way.
Not a huge difference but the Patrol was better. It was smoother, more control. The Cruiser had to fight a little.
Exactly my thoughts too. Probably due to traction control being a bit more delayed on the Cruiser.
The different was the rear diff locker. The electronic trac control delay makes look likes suffering to advance, and the diff lock has no delay... Also i think the nissan has a better driver too!
Nissan Patrol wins in every way..Great job Nissan!!!
Nissan did surprisingly good. Expected Toyota to be better than it was TBH.
Not true. Toyota has much more wheel travel, stronger suspension than Nissan--nowadays. Also, that Toyota was only equipped with a-trac. Nissan had the rear locker option. The older Patrols were better than this luxury tank.
More a comparison between TC and rear diff lock. Makes all the difference. Good job on the vid boys. Impressed with the angles on the patrol too.
DENMONKEY that is what came to mind for me, don't think there was much in it otherwise.
Mate the patrols back wheels were spinning at different rates. Diff lock wasn't on.
@@baileycummings2874 description says TC only on the cruiser rdl on the pootrol.
There is something not so wright with a Toyota operator. Beautiful battle by the way... I am the Toyota Fan Boy.👏🏽
En Colombia el q consigue patla en lo primero q piensa es comprarse una Landcruiser...yo con la plata me compro una patrol...q maquinata!!
Here in gcc countries patrol made it so comptitive , it’s better in every angle u look at it.even the resale is so high due to its high quality built.
Can you take these two vehicles to Baal Bone Gap and climb up that rock edge? Would really love to see how those vehicles handle it !
Sure, that's definitely one we've talked about, the Y62 should do it easier then the 200 due to the locker alone. But yes let's try and get that done for you.
@@WheelingWebber Definitely looking forward to the video !
Personally I'd say the patrol's gear box came out handy since it is an automatic.but for landcruiser its simply clear its manual transmission hence no traction control feature.an automatic 200 series would have done the same like the patrol.no hate..the patrol is a tremendous rig
Patrol all day. it was the first ever vehicle to cross the Simpson when all others failed.
Some cool lanes on there lads, nicely accomplished! I like the subtle spotties in the Patrol grill, cool idea.
Thanks mate 👍 Glad you liked the video. Yeah, the spotties are well hidden 👌
y62 is the real king
I always say Nissan is the best , i like Nissan cars i have one 👍
Very smooth for the patrol
I dont know if its a driver thing but the Land Cruiser struggled while the Patrol was pretty smooth, which is suprising for me
It really came down to factory traction options IMHO. Toyota need to step up their game.
it seems the land cruiser had no lockers, it for some reason didn't turn them on?
@@AussieFourWheelerswas the patrol lifted
Wow... The Patrol was much better. It surprised me how big the difference was. Clearance and a rear diff locker really made the difference.
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍 Totally agree with you. I'm guessing it'll have a bullbar eventually.
Aussie Four Wheelers No worries! Keep up the good work. I’m from the UK so very envious of the situation over there with regards to off-roading!
Yes Y62 gets bar work in next couple of weeks.
Patrol very smooth driver
Great man
the patrol seems to have better clearance, and better suspension overall.
Nissan patrol all the way ‘go Nissan or go home’ thats all I’m going to say
1 question where are you guys testing them would love to know wanting to take out my own 4wd there
Menai NSW mate, check out my channel to see more Menai Y62, Y61 and Y60 action.
Wow this is the first video I have gotten from you guys in a long time
Click on that bell icon 🔔 so you never miss out 😉😉😉
That Y62 should be called a pathfinder plus or something, true patrols are SFA
It's a pathfinder alright. Its finding its path easier than the 200
This video shows that lockers beat traction control.
Definitely!
Wonderfull video! Congratulations
Thank you 👍 Glad you liked it 😊😊😊
Парень на LC200 не умеет ездить от слова совсем. Плохая траектория, плохой газ. Не понимает физику движения. Очень странно. Патрол молодец
The lc200 has double wishbone front suspension and rear live axle right? And y62 all independent suspension?
That's right.
So the Patrol is superior??
K.G.B MOLE ya
the fully independant system on the patrol seems to crawl much easyier on the rocks with better traction
Awesome content as always Musa.. back to the channel after a while.. missed this stuff... if you were to choose one of these beasts for touring.. which one would you purchase and why??
Thanks mate 👍 For touring, I would choose the 200-series because of the diesel range and accessories.
The patrol was never build for off-road but fuck he can make it go some places
Patrol smashed it. I seems like the suspension punches well above it's weight even considering the rear locker... must be that hydraulic system
HMBC
@@chiragsomaraj5121 how does it work?
Go the Y62 💪💪
Nissan Patrol🔥🔥🔥
Pretty impressed by the patrol, road tyres and still outdrove the 200.
The patrol had all terrain tires
LC200 driver inexperienced. The way he drove makes LC less capable 😒😒. I don’t mean y62 is less capable. But because of driver LC one step behind. Love both car
You all get the Patrol, I’ll get the Cruiser!
go for it lmfao
No doubt nissan patrol is a powerful machine but here i found the difference in driving techniques.....if patrol driver drives the cruiser.....?
Definitely the Patrol driver had more offroad experience than the Cruiser driver, as well as the knowledge of the terrain. It is a good suggestion to swap vehicles and do it again to see if it's really the vehicles or not.
Love both the cars, I wanna have both of them, both are almost equally capable. BTW did the lc200 have a rear difflock ? Does the y62 also have a rear difflock? What made the y62 more superior?
The y62 have a rear diff lock
But the lc200 have a center diff lock with crawl control
No rear diff lock just only the center
Looks like Patrol is much more capable than Landcruiser.
definitely seems like it but did u read all the Toyota butthurt comments? its so funny also check ther other vid at nine mile steps so funny reading
I still prefer lockers to tcs, especially sharp rocky terrain that can cause heavy damage when you need the wheels to start spinning for tcs to activate.
100% 👌
Did the 200 have the multi terrain crawl control system?
nissan patrol is best
To me, they both did as good as each other. Id still go the Toyota tho
No matter what aye 😂
You should do another video not just rock crawling and technical stuff this video depends on the skill of the driver you should take this two to cape york or tasmania to test there offroad capabilities in water, mud, steep climbs and decents, currogations and other gnarly stuff to test the car's abilities in certain conditions so that we have a fair comparison of the two vihicles. But nice video i have no favor of the two but both did a great job of tackling rock climbs and technical handling
Nissan should sponsor this
Nissan had rear locker option equipped, Toyota did not. Also, Nissan higher clearance out of the factory. Still, the new Patrol is inferior to it's predisessors. The old Patrols had unparalleled strength. This one's a luxury boat of a thing. I'll take the Landcruiser, superior wheel travel and all....
driver in the patrol is trying easy way can u pls post another video of patrol driver using lc
Should have matched with the 5.7 V8 of the LC
Don't get that in Australia. Hardly sell any petrols here in the 200. Almost all are sold with the 4.5L Twin Turbo Diesel.
You should do an engine swap to match the cubic centimeters lmfao
@@DifRential swap it with the 5.6 from the y62 😂😂😂😂
It wasn't cc's that made the difference
Love the Patrol but I'm very disappointed they don't make it with a diesel and a manual like the older ones.... I don't like boredomaticks and not about to feed a 5.6 liter v8... Otherwise its a great truck and much better looking than the Toyota in my opinion!
I hear you loud and clear but unfortunately it's the end of the road for diesel cars.
ruclips.net/video/hQvlTzMXvdo/видео.html - Perhaps this will change your mind about Petrol being worse than Diesel?
Patrol driver, looks like are PRO !!
So the Nissan patrol is leading the way with stock bumper how’s this an even comparison?
Thanks for the chuckle 😆😆😆 This comment is GREAT!!!!
The video depicts a clear support for Nissan Patrol’s win. It is with clear intent to fail Toyota Landcruiser. The Toyota driver pushed brakes unnecessarily.
So you're assuming it was rigged like the US elections? 😂
Patrol hands Down
100 k plus vehicle should be able to do what it’s doing plus more .the bigger tyres on the patrol make all the difference.
Nissan Patrol has better clearance with mods and better driver. Car is not bad either.
Патрол 👍красава!!!!
Спасибо 👌
It’s actually not all about going fast while 4x4ing and the land cruiser may have struggled but they beat every other car
I somehow see this comment contradicting 😂
Great Comparison. Question... why did you use a 2017 Patrol but only a 2010 Landcruiser? Wouldn't a better comparison being that of same age? Surely the TC in the 2017 LC is better/more advanced than the 2010. But still loved the video.
It was a 2013 cruiser and it took 3+ months to get this guy to man up and meet up for a face off... seems most 200 owner's go to water when you actually ask them to turn up.
Wheeling Webber nah it’s a 2010 build. Either way, 2017 vs 2017 would have been more comparable. I am interested in looking at the new Patrol in the future though, and judging by the video it looks the goods.
nice. I like Nissan patro
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Two good drivers
Patrol has had better traction for years and has always out done land cruiser in low range thanks to a LSD that actually works.
Good video
Looks like Landcruiser is running on pure A-trac and Nissan seems locked.. either way, Nissan Patrol is a legit offroader
Patrol has THE pilot :))
Lockers needed then the Nissan is back where it belongs , in the car yard 🤣🤣🤣... l will put the extra few grand towards the LC 200 and add the lockers ...
The patrol used the locker once or twice that day (and tbh didn't even need it those times) and it's a 30k difference between the same spec 200.

Yes, good advice 👍 Gotta be careful when standing behind just in case the rocks start shooting lol.
