- Da1writer's Soapbox Episode 2 is here a bit early for those who have been asking about how the P11 compares to the PX21. I tell you in this video, but don't be too shocked alright ;)!
my sister sat on my px21s :S .. bought some p11s today cant wait to try them out
I was still fairly new to having music in my videos while I talked, music volume has been adjusted in future videos to a 2 from it's original 5 found in this video. Hopefully this review is still helpful and audible enough to understand.
I also have seen a trend with posts like this below and negative ones - none mention if the user handled the P11 or PX21 or BOTH at the same time WITH the DSS 7.1 option. That's where these headsets separate the men from the boys - the sound difference becomes night and day.
it was a great big help. it just kinda made it hard to hear you when the music is playing.
just ordered the px21 on amazon for $65, hopefully get tomorrow or the day after
@nyle123nyle The PX21, it required and has a velcro strap to bundle the long cord up for users who are close to their TV.

@techturials326 : Why not? They are universal and can be used for either console. Shouldn't be too much of an issue. When peoples budget get better or they save up, you'll find out there are much better headsets out there than Turtle Beaches headset like my Astro A40's (wireless 5.8ghz).
For those who already pm'd me, I know I do a horrible Seinfeld impression, I sound more like that old guy on Family Guy, " You want a Popsicle ... I got it in the house".

thx for the info is subbed. just one last question which is better for games like COD where you can listen to small sound ques like reloading, footsteps etc. also does the stereo expander make a difference?
i snapped 28 pairs of Px21s where they swivel, i have never tried p11's but i am just about to buy some and i would say there better

@theLegeNdkillA95 It was first time trying to do so... my later other video's show I learned a good balance between voice and music.

@TheLegitPickle Each have their pluses, the P11's were one of the most "less hiss" Turtle Beach's I've used IMO when combined with the DSS unit. I found that the DPX21's having double the bass had it's benefits - bass boost on the PX21 and the bass boost on the DSS unit itself were highly adjustable. As you said it's probably just personal preference, I really liked the options of the DPX21. I think with the adjustable Bass boost missing on the P11, that's what turned me off.

@hioeo 50mm means nothing if the sound quality is the same especially from the Turtle Beach company. The price difference is only because of the more available user`s options the PX21 gives you over the P11's. I will give you that there is less hiss in the P11 probably because of the 50mm but that's it. I owned both and did sound and option tests with the two and came to my deduction. People run for the more affordable P11, run away from the PX21 due to bad experiences - your money/decision...

@da1writer1985 Combined with the DSS, I still stand by my review winner of the DPX21 (DSS+PX21) as being the best wired surround sound headset I owned. Grab the PX21's now and the DSS later if need be -but trust me when you make the jump you'll notice the difference immediately. Once you hear a surround sound headset, you'll never go back to stereo, footsteps and subtle sounds are more pin point with one.

@crazyCOD364 If you like lots of bass and alot of options to work with - px21. If you want a more durable headset according to others but sacrifice bass and a few options to play with - P11. I do like the style more of the P11 but I'm also a person who likes lots of bass from my explosions. gunfire, etc. - so I stuck with the PX21. Personal preference is yours for the taking...
@tegzeh ow ok, Why not, Like on the 3rd or 4th pair just get P11 or another headset?
i have (had) both. i just bought p11s today and they're are awesome! i had the px21s but my bro broke the earphone off :( but i like the p11s much better and they cost less!
@MMMHOTCHEEZE The DX11 has the DSS included, same with the PX21.

The P11's are alright if you are on a budget and don't care about the DSS and surround but I stepped out of stereo audio years ago (exception to music and podcasts). Please own both headsets AND DSS unit and you will hear the difference for yourself before you make comments that the P11's are better.
In all honesty, I changed my mind of the Turtle Beach headsets and find them a bit lacking when compared to my Astro A40's 2011 headset 5.8 mixamp combo. My Astro's blew all Turtle beach's away...

@mamagalebi It's better with it as it converts it to a surround headset and also the bass is much improved if set to maximum on the DSS. Then it becomes level with the PX21's bass by itself (which requires no bass boost on the DSS unit as it's already great by itself).
@theLegeNdkillA95 The PX21 is best with the DSS as you can get as much bass as you'd like, more available options at your finger tips, and are very comfortable (moreso if you switch out the default cups with the x11 cups, which cost $5). Negative would be that there is a very slight hiss and has been mentioned to be prone to breaking (Hogwash IMO, if you take really good care of any headset - it'll live as long as you like with some exceptions. Mine never broke for the 6 months I had it.)
@Ps3vidz227 most definately NOT the MW3 headset... don't be fooled by marketing my friend. Grab the DSS unit and the Px21 (for bass) or the P11 (for durability).

Yeah- it's not like I advertise my videos on multiple sites like others do. My video is owrd of mouth and glad people even bothered to watch it. I'm also glad people commented despite how rude some are or sarcastic. My favorite is being called rich - glad they know where I work or that the economy and me having a kid and a wife to support has no affect on me., Not like I buy these items through my tax returns - that's not possible right...
@MuffeN1337 Ahhh, nvm then. I've had my px21 for about 3 months now, still works fine. Funny thing is, I'm thinking about picking up the a40 mixamp combo. I've been wanting to do a Turtle Beach DSS vs Astro Mixamp Showdown for a while now. Wife gave Me the OK to pick up my fathers day gift and I'll probably see if I can convince her to let me get the a40 mixamp combo. We'll see...
The dss2 is crap compared to the original - noe your ****! Just check reviews online, the dss2 has sound issues that the original doesn't have. Just because a headset has 50mm, doesn't mean the headset sounds better than a 40mm - it just means they are bigger. The PX21 had a sound amplifier built-in that allowed better sound options combined with the DSS. The P11 has NO sound amplfier built in - you MUST utilize the DSS at max to even get descent sound. Glad you owned all 4 items like I did :/

@Kre8able It's really good on the px21 ;), combined with the dss it's fantastic for explosions, gunfire, and other loud sounds like music.
well i think im going to get the p11 for the low price and its 50mm for my big ears!
@ragoon700 : Who is your commented targeted at? Me? If you read the beginning I merely said the p11 or px21's can be used on either console (imo with the DSS or DSS2 unit). My second portion is for those who wonder if there are better headsets out there than the ones in this review which imo s the Astro A40's. I'm a working father who has to provide for my family, I'm not rich in the slightest. I merely save up my money (spouse allowance) or wait until my tax return to come in to make big purcha
@xl2AINxCommunity theres not really a difference its just that the px21 has a volmune stand thing instead of a normal on like the p11 and the look little different p11 look better , and the main reason i say p11 is better is the price difference so i would go with p11 i own two pair and they are great no problems.

@jesus619ism You have to try both with a DSS unit to appreciate which is better. Saying one is better than the other requires a keen ear to hear the differences between the two and seeing the dongle alone on each headset already tells you which one has the most options for the player to use. The P11 has only has two things against the PX21, Durability (according to some people, the P11 is more durable - my PX21 never broke on me and it's been 6 months now) and is cheaper (by only $15).
@beefyMUNKAY44 If we reallly want to be truthful here - I abandoned the turtle Beach headset a while ago and saved up to get the superior Astro A40's wireless 2011 editiion. If you want to talk about awesome sound quality - no one will disagree that the Astro's are it.
@MMMHOTCHEEZE It is loads better with the DSS, once you hear it - the surround - you'll never go back. It's quite remarkable that such a tiny box can change the way sound is, turning regular stereo headphones into surround sound one.Stuff like this is the reason why I still haven't bought a real 5.1 setup.
I believe your headset to work with your stereo you might need to try their support portion of their site. I think you might need an audio in jack but not really sure...
why have you got music in the back ground its a review!
@TheLegitPickle Actually - I had both headsets and was doing multiple tests with the DSS unit, the p11 simply alright with the unit. Do you own both to make a worthy comparison? I did. Just because a headset is cheaper and looks cool doesn't make it better. I also had no problems with my px21, durability a non-issue for me. 50mm speakers don't mean anything either - the only advantage I saw of the P11 over the PX21 was more improved "less hiss". That's it.
@FreedomFighter90210 You should go for the Px21 imo, if you take real good care of your headset - it should last you a long time like mine did. The P11 imo tries too much to simplify things to the point that ill informed people just say the P11 is better either due to the different price points or a bad experience with the PX21 (I babied mine with it's own custom case). No one will say this but the PX21 gives you loads more options/controls to play with compared to the P11.
@WhiteMexicanTV Well if some would save up their money a bit, you'll find niether the P11 or PX21 sound better than the Astro A40 Wireless 2011 edition headset. Sound is dramatically better than anything I've heard from Turtle Beach hands down. This was taped 5 months ago so I jumped to better headphones already. So my new answer is no Turtle Beach Headset sounds better than Astro's. Price may be steep but I saved up for a couple months to get them, I'm sure other's can do the same.

@ham10444 Not by alot, but you are sacrificing alot by getting the p11 though in regards to sound quality. If you have a dss unit, it will help with the 0 bass the p11 produced by itself.
@theLegeNdkillA95 Both are good actually for hearing "small sounds" (I still prefer my A40's), but the stereo expander isn't very good in my opinion. Makes things seem alot farther distant than they really are (when stereo expander is being used with the DSS mind you). At least for the px21 you can turn that off, but the P11 has it always on. I hope some of the commenters below realize this as my reason for saying the PX21 has better sound quality...
@d4lrap25 When I had the P11, I found it to have even less hiss than the px21 (pretty much non-existent). If durability is your thing, the P11 should be your route as the PX21 are prone to breaking I guess (never broke for me but what do I know). Both sound a bit the same, the P11 does sound a bit louder due to the 50mm drivers... will put out there anyway that the bass is not that good on the P11 compared to thee PX21 :P! If you have the DSS unit, it will compensate for the lack of bass...
I do apologize to those who did get offended by my Astro comment though, I often forget that some are still living with their parents and/or don't work...
@iWatchCommentaries P11's are more durable than the PX21 but if you plan on grabbing it be sure to be ready to exchange one problem for another. While the PX21 is apparently not the durable according to alot of users like yourself, the bass is unmatched by any of Turtle Beach's headsets right now. As for the P11's, while they are more durable, the bass is EXTREMELY lacking. Grabbing the DSS unit and maxing out it's bass boost will help you alot!
@TheLegitPickle Also, the bass was like night and day between the two headsets, PX21 was better. You already acknowledged that though as the P11 doesn't allow any adjustments - the bass is already "on". Suggestion - buy both headsets, the DSS unit, and try games like Bad Company 2, Condemned, and Fallout 3 - three games that work the sound and test well. Don't get upset if your PX21 broke or the P11 was in your price range over the PX21,I simply have a good ear - Cowon J3 owner
@theLegeNdkillA95 The P11 also sounds good with the DSS but the bass on the P11 is "always on" at a maximum setting of 1 compared to the available 10 setting on the PX21. Maxxing out the bass option on the DSS itself alleviates the bass problem but it's only half as good sounding as px21 (imagine the P11 w/DSS maxes out at 10 now but the PX21 w/DSS maxes out at 20). I would agree that the P11 is more durable w/ no hiss whatsoever. It's really a matter of taste, I like bass and lots of options :P
@da1writer1985 What a joke. P11's are so much better because they are a lot more durable, have 50mm speakers, look cooler and are $50-$20 cheaper (I bought my P11's for $50!). The only thing better about the PX21's is that the sound is more customizable. Once you get the DSS, the P11's pull ahead of the PX21's. And btw the P11s have bass, it's just not adjustable...
im gonna anwser a lot of peapole here , i try the px21 and i broke it in 1 month thats easy to break , thats really a shit for me , the difference its only on the px21 you have a bass sound , but if you put it on the floor they gonna break . You cant touch it so much because its really fragile but the p11 its the same but no bass sound and they never gonna break only if you rage and you trow it . I go in a store and the guy told me they stopped sell it px21 cause thats break to easy thanks :)

@da1writer1985 My friend has the PX21's and I just recently bought the P11's. I go to his house regularly and they are pretty much the same. One of my friends tried on both of the headsets and he actually prefers my P11's over the PX21's. I guess it's just preference for some people. And also why would the DSS have different effects on both headsets?
@09stoopidmonkey The bass blows on the p11's when combined with the DSS (without the DSS bass boost, their is NO BASS), it's a simple fact if you own both the P11 and PX21 - you'll know right away which one has better bass. I'm guessing you got neither to test it out yourself - people merely slam the px21 due to the fact they didn't handle their headset properly and it broke (mine is still functioning fine and in great condition for 5 months now). The PX21 had better audio and functionality too

@crazyCOD364 Read the comment I gave iwatchcommentaries - then decide for yourself. I'm a person who likes bass, so I'm a bit bias in my headphones a bit :P (so I like the PX21 over the P11).

@beefyMUNKAY44 Woah there dude, lay off the capslock. I hope you do know each and every reviewer in the world reviews differently and sometimes personal preference takes a play like I preferred the available options to me along with the good audio options on the PX21. Unlike other people who owned the PX21, my set didn't break the time I had it. I also take really good care of my stuff to sell later for something better. If you are on a budget and feel that they are built etter - ok that's you.

@muffeN1337 I had my px21 for a long while now, haven't broken at all once but I also try to take really good care of my stuff due to I'm already selling the old to get the new. If you want, I can sell ya my p11 headset since I didn't sway you with the review.
