I was helping a UI designer at the time for this custom one shown in the video, he would mash certain UI's together from other Cowon devices. Simpler times when mp3's with no internet were a thing, themes for these were more a manual thing using a computer and USB.

I do mention that the mic gets the job done, but I've heard better personally, my friends say I sound like I'm in a trash can so the muffling might just be normal on your side. To improve your voice to be heard though, you can adjust the microphone level so you can come through better for your friends. Hold the PlayStation button on your controller until the Quick Menu pops up. Go to Sound/Devices and then Adjust Microphone Level. Then move the bar to the right it to a level you like. You can do the above also by going to Settings=> Devices=> Audio Devices=> Adjust Microphone Level

Uncharted 4, gives you the best bass imo for shooters.

Yes, you have two ways: wired via 3.5mm cable that's included in the box when you purchase, and the other is you need to buy an OTG USB to connect the dongle to the phone's USB in order for the headset to work wirelessly. You can see this in the video.

Yes, the 800p headset has a chat and game volume buttons.

I can tell you the surround works in gaming AND video. You can plug the headset in the controller but it'll result in downgrading the audio to stereo only. As for the differences when it comes to Sony's VSS vs Dolby 5.1, I feel they are quite similar with the only difference being distance. While both provide a spherical sound, Sony's is a bit closer to ones ear even for sounds in the far off distance. Doesn't sound bad, just oddly different. Dolby headsets often bank on Bass, and I'm not a particular fan as it's often too much imo. Sony's recent New Gold Headset in the video has Bass but it's subtle and slight, enjoyable imo. I'm pretty confident the surround does not carry over to PC and Smartphone. PC you can grab Razor's free surround audio to compensate or buy Soundblaster's X-Fi3 (?) Software for cheap. I believe even Dolby/Microsoft has an Dolby Atmos software for consumers. These would convert the Stereo headset into a "surround headset". Not sure about what can be done about Smartphones outside of getting an otg adapter to plug in the adapter in order to enjoy the wireless aspect of the headset. This is what I do often.

@@da1writer1985 thanks for the info, i have dolby in the laptop but not atmos, will buy it if i find it worth it to use with the heaphones, i have yet to experience through dolby or surround audio but ofcourse i have experienced dolby digital in theatres long time ago, judging from youtube videos, dolby digital plus sees extremely good in surround effect so does atmos but there is something unique about digital plus, there are some ps2 games that offered dolby digital audio option as well if bass dominates clarity, better have low bass as long as you hear the impact well enough, i have been using a decent sony earphones via controller's jack and it has been providing satisfying experience in general as it does have good sound, i generally have to keep volume 6-7 levels down in sound settings using them as they can be a bit too loud, bass is also good, if a non gaming/ps4 based earphone from sony has this quality, i can only imagine how good this one would be

@@GotuUmraniya Well if in the states, Best Buy has a great return policy that if you don't like it, you can return it. Go grab a set to try it out, I believe you'll like it as there's also some good features that integrate well with PS4 and PS3 if you have either. A very good bang for your buck headset, I've even turned down the Steelseries Pro Wireless despite sounding a bit better. Reason is simple - even if a headset sounds great, but if the convenience, features, and comfort aren't there what's the point of having it. Not trying to oversell the New Gold Headset, just saying once you have this headset, judge overall what a headset should provide you and decide if it's worth keeping. The one point I will say is that mic isn't the greatest, it just... Gets the job done. I'm a singleplayer gamer, so the mic isn't important to me personally. Just keep that in mind.

@@da1writer1985 I live in india, regardless mic is not important for me, only other brand I would be interested would be turtle beach because of its Dolby surround and amp feature, not sure what an amp really does besides bass treble setting

@@da1writer1985 received, the only game so far where i saw actual performance of these headset is uncharted remaster collection, i only saw a few cutscenes and play tiny bit of first stage, game is still being downloaded as this was initial data play, i am truly amazed, it will be too hard to accept stereo now but here is the reality, how many games actually have quality audio output settings or even just surround/wide settings? i have about 30 physical games, will need to reinstall most just to see how audio sounds, remember dirt games have good audio options, so does gt sport tried amazon prime app on ps4, tried pc, tried android, this does not sound any special anywhere else except games i guess, but i have yet to text this much, only spent a few hours so far, satisfied with the purchase disappointed that even in current gen, not all games have audio upto the mark, how lazy can they be

? Are you sure you used the app or program, that's how you set it up. I found the noise cancellation to work pretty well personally.

I'm using the mic in the entire video, albeit it's directly hooked up via aux on my phone. I do explain that the mic is alright while wireless. I mention in my review that my friends say I sound robotic a bit or that I'm in a trash can - they eventually got used to it. I've heard better mics, but it gets the job done.

Getting worn out? I remember the old Gold Headset released back in 2014 having that issue but not the New Gold Headset released recently (2018?). Are you sure it's the New Gold Headset?

@@da1writer1985 Yes, Im sure. To be exact my headset is the 500 million limited edition gold headset, navy blue, same color of the ps4 limited edition. I just bought it this year and the leather already has a tear.

@Chasing Enigma Strange, I have the exact same (500 Million edition). Anyway, unlike the old Gold Headset which were pretty easy to pull the cups off by twisting, I couldn't do the same for the New Gold Headset. What you have to do is squeeze the left and right side of the soft pads, you should see the top portion of the pads show a slight opening separating the cups from the headset. Slightly pull the cups off, may have to pull with your finger with the now open area. Came off easily for me. Keep in mind that both Walmart and Target are selling the non-limited edition New Gold Headset for $70 (Fortnite bundle?), Just in case you want to go the easy route and just want to buy a new one.

@Knight 751 shooters in general sound best imo with the Uncharted 4 preset. Oddly enough, it's so loud that I sit at volume level 1. Bass is there.

@@kn1ght756 I believe so, I'm still using mine to this day, the blue special edition one specifically. Don't just use with my PS4 but also wirelessly with my Switch docked and phone/tablet (otg dongle). Of course Vita and Switch undocked corded but device practically isn't locked to the PS4 (also wirelessly used on my PS3, PC with Razor surround, and Xbox One with Dolby Atmos).

Btw if you are using wireless and you're sitting away from the tv will I still hear still hear good or is it going to cut off

@@kn1ght756 Hopefully me walking around my house with the headset, no issue upstairs and then going downstairs helps you understand the great distances you can achieve. If you watched my video, I'm not being entirely truthful as I have to use a USB extender so I can have the wireless dongle laying on the floor, I feel it provides a better walking field/distance. Having the dongle being plugged in directly into the console runs into issues imo (pops, crackles, shorter distance.) You can get a USB extender for $5 - $10.

@Teja I found the New PlayStation Gold's to be lighter, but there's a reason for that: OG PlayStation Gold - 295.4 g (10.4 oz) New PlayStation Gold - 230 g (8.4 oz) The headband is thinner width wise, while padding is efficiently comfortable still. I use these for long periods playing PlayStation VR, which these were technically designed to fit around, so comfort and size was a huge factor. Still worthy of an upgrade over the OG Gold Headset imo!

@Crossed Fingers they're still great! Me, my wife, and son still enjoy it. Sound great, still gets updates (Firmware and presets), comfortable, and haven't broken whatsoever despite prior headsets doing so. As long as you can get past the alright/usable mic, definitely worth getting, best bang for your buck!

@Michelangelo This headset receives Firmware updates frequently as well as Presets added sometimes monthly. They work out the box of course but you may not be able to get the best out of the headset. I thought they worked great day 1, and can be used wirelessly with a Switch, PC, and Mobile (w/ OTG). Seeing as you may not have a PS4 to do Firmware updates or pop presets on the dongle, I may suggest to you Man O War from Razor or HyperX series. My good friend theJTL has a fantastic RUclips Channel called PainfullyHonestTech going over these headsets.

Build quality and sound wise, yes. The bassimpact is something special though so it's up to you if it's an important feature or not. I will say that devs have been getting much better in regards to supporting the New Gold Headset - new sound presets nearly come out monthly, especially on big game releases and sound great.

@@luizeduardo-sr5vd While not mentioned, steer clear of the Platinum, does not work on PS3 (plus it has even issues mentioned in another video of mine). I would choose the New Gold Headset though due to what I've mentioned before but it also works wirelessly on the PS3, PS4, PC, Switch (docked), and tablets/phones (OTG cable). You're also guaranteed support of New sound profiles, which the Pulse Ellie lost support a long time ago. The Pulse Elite is prone to cracking on the sides, something you won't have to worry about on the New Gold Headset. Also, as mentioned in my review, the New Gold Headset has bass, you just won't get rumble's on your head like the Pulse Elite, which honestly I always turned to low or off due to it being a bit much. I'd suggest grabbing the New Gold headset from a retailer like Best Buy which has a good return policy that if you don't like it you can return in x amount of days.
