Not many bands have EVER been able to pull off a good sounding Led Zeppelin cover. Godsmack is the exception to this. NICE job, guys!

It's not about who does it best, it's about keeping these great classic tracks alive. I love Zeppelin and i love Godsmack and both versions are worthy of their place in Rock's history

I've heard arguments about Shannon's ability to play the drum parts with a single/double pedal, or whether the parts were dubbed...I played with Shannon in Wrathchild, and I can tell you he can do this in his sleep...he is a drum monster

Absolutely! As a drummer myself, it's actually almost trickier to do those triplets with two feet. It's a feel thing. I play this song in my band, and tried cheating and doing them double because I wasn't up to speed on single and it just comes easier actually doing it single. Idk why..

Shannon Larkin is one the best drummers of all time, and sully can rock em out as well.
I am a die hard Zeppelin fan and I must say Godsmack sounds great.. I dont like any band that covers Zeppelin.. but Sully is so cool.. and the rest of the band is so talented.. I like it..

I must admit...This band does the song justice. This lead singer articulates all his words so clear cut that I actually heard the lyrics for the first time. This is the sign of an artist with a high level of confidence.... My sister bought Sullys home in NH. It was like an Arabian theme in the main room.... My brother in law lives there still.

I was 17 when Led Zeppelin released this song. I cranked the hell out of it on my Sears stereo record player with the detachable speakers. My mother often yelling down to the basement with turn that down. Hah not likely! Now a whole lot of years later I stumbled on this version even though I had heard of Godsmack I had no idea. This kicks it hard! Turn that up! Yes Mom!
I like the band because they are "older" meaning they grew up in the period of time when great, legendary bands like Zeppelin,Stones, Rush, Pink Floyd, so many others that set the standard for what a concert should be like.

I'm glad the drummer decided to be faithful to Bonham's classic double strokes on the bass drum and did them on one foot. He could have just took the easy way out and used the double bass pedal, but he thankfully didn't.
I loved his beats when he played with Ugly Kid Joe but playing with Godsmack brought out the beast in him. Hes the best of all time in my book.

It's important to keep an open mind, because by playing this song these guys are paying respect to a band they grew up listening to and love as much as you and me. Imagine them setting up in your living room for a party and playing it just like this...

It’s funny because it’s a meme and in this case it’s true. The Og zeppelin version had a lot more cow bell. It was used in place of the high hat for most of the song.

I am a huge Zeppelin and Godsmack fan. Anyone that thinks that Led Zeppelin is somehow sacred and cannot be re-done needs to understand that they took from artists too. Some songs on the first album were written by Willie Dixon, an American blues singer. The Lemon Song is mostly borrowed from Killing Floor by Howlin' Wolf, and so on and so on. They basically got their sound from American delta blues. That's what musicians do, borrow, use for inspiration, cover, share. Any band is free to cover any band or song, period (with due royalties and all that crap). If you don't like it so be it but don't harp on some "how dare they" kind of mentality. Especially a kick ass band like Godsmack!!!

The most stunning thing about the song (I'm talking about ''Led Zeppelin's version'', is Bonzo's amazing kick drum. It's superhuman when you realize he was not playing with double kick. That's one kick drum! That's when people started understanding what he was all about. Yup The Biggest Band In The World 1971-1975.

Zeppelin was my fave. band in high school and early college, but come on guys and gals, this is a GREAT remake of "good times..." I love it, I think Robert, and Jimmy, and John Paul, and Mr. Bonham (if he were alive) are all proud of Sully and Godsmack for this remake...everyone in America (at least) is entitled to their own opinion...even if its wrong.

Just saw this for the first time. They are real good but pleeeze do not get too carried away with the Zeppelin comparison. I saw Zeppelin 4x live. They opened with this in Carnegie Hall in NYC-was sitting in the 10th row and nearly got blown out of my seat with those opening notes. I had seen them once already at that time but in MSG-not in a 5000 seat venue-to this day it was as mind blowing an opening as I have ever seen. I am spoiled by having seen Hendrix-Who-Cream-Blind Faith and pretty much everyone else from 1967-1980 and don't want to sound like some old guy who's a hater-I am not but it was a magical time where the best of the best were playing every w/e for $5 That being said I was really struck by how good a cover this is-but Zeppelin-NOT REMOTELY CLOSE--great cover that I will listen to again-YES!

When I heard Godsmack remade a Zeppelin tune, inasmuch as I love Godsmack, I still tripped a lil, I mean Zeppelin to me is sacred, nobody should try that shit, but Dayyuuum did they make me love them even more.
