Every time I tried to boot up project universe it just loads up regular brawl, I have done multiple things such as removing old files and replacing them with new ones and took out the disc and slide it back in but every single time it just does not load project universe.

If your having issues these are things I would recommend you check: Do you have a SDHC type of SD not SDXC type? Is it formatted to fat32? Did you put the mod files correctly?
Followed every step on this tutorial and every time I hit play on project m it just loads into normal brawl. What gives? What really frustrates me is that everyone else in the comments seems to have gotten it to work no issues. Would really like some help troubleshooting if at all possible.
Used to happen to me now, it goes to the Smash Universe logo, and then a simple smash universe 2.0 screen and that's if you press a fast enough on both screens and then it crashes on the loading screen.
i came to the comments just to confirm this guys info, i have been trying for days hours after hours to get this mod to work, i changed my sd card to a KNOWN to be sdhc and it booted up perfectlty. you need sdhc card formatted to FAT32 drag all files to root of sd card insert in wii go to homebrew start project m and make sure your super smash bro brawl NTSC ver disc is inserted in the wii and it worked flawlessly!! SOOOOO with this being said and proven by me the sdxc card will NOT work dont try it i lost sleep over this silly mistake, let your lessons be learned by me and Game ON!!!
@@limitlessboy6423 No, it’s not possible. Only project M, Brawl minus, etc can be installed without a disc because they only change existing mechanics and don’t add anything. So you can make a new ISO with that mod using BrawlBuilder Any mod that adds characters and stages and stuff requires the actual disc

Took me 2 HOURS to download, then realized that it was for Dolphin. When I click the Smash Universe icon on brawl vault, it downloads the dolphin one. SOMEONE PLS HELP!
For any of those who are watching this this does not work with a micro SDXC cards only micro SDHC cards, on Wii U at least, just stick with a 32GB card or under and you'll be good 👍
@@ongakuwotabeta actually it really doesn't work, I already did that the mod loads but doesn't load any of the content and then crashes, don't be spreading false information to people.
The only problem I have is that the character select screen is cut off by the screen a little (even after changing video settings in the game and on my TV) and that the character select screen is pretty laggy.
I have the same thing I found that if you put the geko folder in your apps it will correctly boot up smash when you run it but I don't know how to put the large sd file on a fat 32 sd card

@koltenbarnett5258 if you try to use the dolphin version with the wii by copying the dolphin files, you get this error. Look for a note file. In it there is a link to the wii version of it.

I followed the instructions projectm showed up on my homebrew I launch it I select play with my smash bros disc in and it just launches the normal game but its glitchy and crashes did I do something wrong
I am using a 16 gb pny micro SD HC card with the include micro SD to SD adapter card but I do have other things on the sd card such as nintendont and wiimednafen do I need I dedicated SD card with nothing else on it for it to work
@@cantn763 i did eventually, i downloaded a clean copy from the actual brawl vault and deleted all the old project m stuff, deleted the save data off the wii and sd card for brawl, redownloaded everything onto the sd card & it worked for me, make sure ur using the disc & an sd card i was having trouble with a usb, and make sure ur anti virus isn’t blocking any of the files when u export them onto the usb, some people were having issues with that, hope this helps

@@ViaCristero Do you have a SHXC SD card? If so you will need a SDHC SD card to fix it. So basically redo the process with a SDHC SD card and I should be fixed. If you already are using a SHHC card then I am not sure of the problem.
Was confused about merging / replacing the boot.elf and other file that wasn’t in a folder on the root of the SD card (maybe config or something?) from your files with that that which was already on my card. That part of the video was extremely fast and didn’t show much. I moved the apps folder into apps and the other files into the root of the sd card… but when I booted up my Wii; black screen. No boot to homebrew as I have it set to, no health and safety, but no errors… fortunately I have the original sd card save that was working previously, but i popped this card in and… same issue :( Now this had me shitting bricks, pun intended. I feared the worst. However, it booted up fine to the main Wii menu with no SD card inserted (obviously there were no homebrew apps). Is this a brick? If not, can I fix it by “starting over” with the sd card? What might have caused this? I do have priiloader and bootmii as boot2 but no nand backup / key. Thank you!!
@@Jummmpy the same thing happened to me but I figured it out. so take the files that are inside the WIISSBU folder and drop them in the root of your SD card and it's gonna ask you to merge or overwrite but click merge then you're all set

I've done all the steps that is in this video, but everytime I click play in the project m launcher it takes me back to the wii menu. I live in Italy and I have a PAL wii with a PAL copy of SSBB. Does this affect the process? Is there a way to make it works?

@@Zak-bv4qm well I'm not sure, for 2 months I've long gave up trying It isn't the wii I'm trying to get the most install its the vWii (Wii U but cross back compatibility) There isn't much guides about a Pmex mod done on vWii so it's gonna be hard trying to get it to work I've tried weeks on getting it to work, but it just doesn't seem to work for vWii. Maybe it's just only for the original Wii it does work

Alright so I found a fix I think? So I kept trying to load project m on my Wii but it never loaded, it just kept sending me to the Wii Home Screen. So after many tries I give up and just open brawl through USB loader gx because like I said I don’t have a physical copy of the game, but anyway I just open the game through USB loader gx and Super Smash bros Universe loads instead of brawl. So idk if this will help anyone but try it. Edit: also I went and turned “ocarina” on in the USB loader gx settings
Okay so I found a way to fix this. To make it stop just go into the usb loader gx settings and turn ocarina back off and when you load up Smash bros brawl again it will just load smash bros brawl like normal
Okay so screw everything I said before. I know how to make it work. So when you hit play on project m and it send you to home menu don’t worry. Go to usb loader gx then go to setting and find “ocarina” and turn it on. Then open super smash bros brawl through usb loader gx (assuming you have it downloaded) then you can open brawl and it will run as Ssb universe. If you try to run it again after closing it, it may freeze and make a buzzing sound, all you need to do to fix this is go back to usb loader gx setting and then turn ocarina off and on again then re-open brawl and it shouldn’t freeze again👍👍

If you load the mod and it loads regular brawl, make sure your SD card is a HC type. This mod will not work with a XC type SD Card.
mine is hc and it still loads normal brawl

Actually, you can use a 64GB or above! Just download GUIformatter and then make sure you format the correct drive.

the lag is logical because the wii hardware isn't strong but you might be able to fix the cut off screen by putting your aspect ratio to full screen

There's a read me in the archive file that will send you to the wii or dolphin link, idk why it's so big maybe it needs all that to work on dolphin.

It only works with the us version of the disk. Pal doesnt work.

Mac has another wii-ssbu and you extract the files from there directly to the sd card (that's what I ended up doing.)

might be a bit late, but for any version of project M, you need a US copy of brawl, you can just download one online though

There isn't much guides about a Pmex mod done on vWii so it's gonna be hard trying to get it to work
I've tried weeks on getting it to work, but it just doesn't seem to work for vWii. Maybe it's just only for the original Wii it does work

I got the file from brawl vault, extracted the files but the files are different from what you are showing. There is no app folder, or project m folder. What is going on with it?
There's a note file in it. And there's a link for the 2.0 wii version in it. You need to use the file from that instead

i'd appreciate any help. The game doesn't load for me. I have the wbfs smash file on usb loader, I have ocarina turned on. I press start with project M and it doesn't load. Any suggestions?
Do you have the american version of smash brawl on disc? I dont think the usb loader file works with it

Edit: I tried this on a 64GB SDXC card (formatted to FAT32) I booted into the project M start screen where you select “play” but after I do so it just boots to regular smash brawl

Hi, I'm trying to install the mod on my Wii, but I'm having some issues. When I press play on the Project M launcher, it just crashes back to the Wii menu. Can anyone help?

If I have the boot.elf file already on the SD card, how can I get around it?
I did everything you said to do, but for some reason when I try to boot up project m it doesn’t work. It just takes me back to the Wii menu. I don’t have a disk for brawl but I have it downloaded on USB loader gx, also I don’t have project+ downloaded either. Can someone help me?
Alright so I found a fix I think? So I kept trying to load project m on my Wii but it never loaded, it just kept sending me to the Wii Home Screen. So after many tries I give up and just open brawl through USB loader gx because like I said I don’t have a physical copy of the game, but anyway I just open the game through USB loader gx and Super Smash bros Universe loads instead of brawl. So idk if this will help anyone but try it.
Edit: also I went and turned “ocarina” on in the USB loader gx settings
Never mind. It worked literally one time but now when I try it just freezes and makes a loud sound :|
Okay so I found a way to fix this. To make it stop just go into the usb loader gx settings and turn ocarina back off and when you load up Smash bros brawl again it will just load smash bros brawl like normal
Okay so screw everything I said before. I know how to make it work. So when you hit play on project m and it send you to home menu don’t worry. Go to usb loader gx then go to setting and find “ocarina” and turn it on. Then open super smash bros brawl through usb loader gx (assuming you have it downloaded) then you can open brawl and it will run as Ssb universe. If you try to run it again after closing it, it may freeze and make a buzzing sound, all you need to do to fix this is go back to usb loader gx setting and then turn ocarina off and on again then re-open brawl and it shouldn’t freeze again👍👍

for me it just loads brawl when I click project M
Once I open the Project M program, the screen fades black and then, 30 seconds later, it returns me to the Wii menu. How do I fix this?
