The only thing stopping the Jays is Montoyo. He needed a few more years in the minors. He still doesn't have a feel for how to post a starting lineup. He is also amateurish with how to handle pitching and relievers.
Jays play in the toughest division. Jays were 9 wins below Tampa last year. Red Sox went to the ALCS and have now added Tevor Story. Yanks now have the top 7 lineup hitters in MLB. Jays have not replaced the fire power they had last year and people thinking the Jays are winning the division is laughable. The Jays won't even make the playoffs again despite the expanded playoff format and despite all visiting teams not being able to play their star players who are not vaxxed. MLB and Rogers have made media promote the Jays hard this year because despite not playing at home for over a year and a half, and despite being in a playoff run down to the wire last year, the Jays couldn't even sell 15k tickets to home games. Majority of the fans that did attend were super young and not even watching the game as they were all goofing off on their phones every time the camera showed fans in the stands. Jays lost and added so they didn't improve and they are in the toughest division 9 wins below the Rays. It's BS picking the Jays even with the Covid help, US team players can't play in Canada. Don't be surprised if Texas blows the Jays out tomorrow.
