Helps when you know that the US has 1,700 federal judges and over 30,000 states judges. While I'm sure most judges have heard of these court shenanigans by now, most have never actually faced one. Combine that with the number of cases they have daily with people who are drunk, stoned, uneducated, or simply oblivious and it can be hard to tell immediately whether the person they are dealing with needs help or is being intentionally obtuse.
Honestly, this guy sounds like he's in both categories. Yeah, he's being a pain, but he probably wasn't the brightest bulb before someone sold him the sov.cit. nonsense.

I am always surprised Mike. When people who show up for court do not confirm their name, why does the judge not immediately just say ok and issue a bench warrant for the persons arrest. In this way we can be sure that the person is in court, and it would end this nonsense. Let the fool sit in jail in handcuffs and attend court on zoom. While he is there he can receive all his mail! Insist you're not the defendent? Issue a bench warrent and/or threaten to arrest the person for identiy theft or similar charge.
Any such nonsense about 'jurisdiction' and 'bond' and such should be met with either 'that's not an issue for today' or 'that's not an issue for this court'.
