That is what I figured after learning more about his life, but I was glad I was able to react purely as a voice pedagogue and without any true knowledge of him. I've been to two concerts and listen to his music most everyday! I don't speak or understand Spanish, his voice is absolutely phenomenal, truly an Extraordinary Artist!

Luis Miguel started singing when he was 11 years old... just yesterday he arrived to 38 years of career as a professional singer. Last year he won a Grammy and a Latin Grammy. To me, he is the best, and if I could say something about him is that he has a lot of manerisms whe he do his live shows, but is part of his personality and we, their fans love him such who he is. this is such an awesome reaction, i've never heard or knew about the things you said about the way he moved his neck etc. didn't know those things would affect i am sure you will get a lot of comments telling you who this amazing singer is lol but you're right about the "evening voice" lol he has a lot of romantic songs one of them it's called Inolvidable which means unforgettable ( there's a live video from that concert you reacted to) and it explores more of his lower range. but Luis miguel actually has an amazing range even to this day he sings higher notes than he used to back in the day! thanks so much for reacting!

At 14 he won his first Grammy and sold 140 million albums in Spanish alone. You should definitely listen to Lá Incondicional. He's voice is definitely crystal clear.

According to Fuentes, he wrote the song after a walk on the beach, where his son told him that women wearing bikinis should be called "bikinas." I appreciate your take on him and your honesty. One thing no one has mentioned is that this song is a “ranchera”/mariachi song which is why he sings it with a huskier tone. There are plenty of live shows with ballads where he has a bright sound. He’s quite versatile. I noticed he sings songs very differently, even as a kid.
I'm looking forward to reacting to La Incondicional. I am a huge vocal pedagogy nerd, and it is clear to me that no man could have a career as long as his without a great technique. I think he probably knows that the style of La Bikina and the extra darkness he creates/the huskiness he uses *could* wear his voice down if that's what he did 100% of the time. It makes a lot of sense it was just a color he adds in occasionally, and that he can sing in many different styles. Variety is key to longevity of singing in a lot of ways and he has GOT IT! :)
Angel Azzarra It’s clear you know what you’re talking about. I dislike how many vocal teachers just say positive things because they’re afraid of alienating the public. He’s worth taking a look at as a kid and teen. He had such a gorgeous tone. What’s interesting is that his technique is better now at almost 50 than when he was younger.
B.b. Gun adapt or perish! My own technique has changed so much, and I’m still young....ish. I am excited to watch the Netflix docuseries but I am also trying to truly react (and watch the videos of him singing truly for the first time as I film) so I’m being careful. Thanks! I’ve gotten a lot of unhappy people responding to my analysis here, but I really stand by it. I’m coming from a place of not knowing his history or his singing at all, and I really do think if he performed every song with these dark colors and the tension it takes to create them, he wouldn’t have had such a long career, but I also saw (and heard) that the instrument is beautiful, and a lot of physical responses that smart singers do to alleviate that tension. Since I filmed this I’ve listened to a lot more, and I know now that this was just a specific color he used for the performance, and that he has a ton of depth and range in his voice- he’s a really versatile artist!

You need to listen to a medley that he sang live in 1994. The last song of that set is called "La Incondicional" and what a way to end a medley!! He won his first Grammy at 15 (youngest EVER) and he is the #1 singer in all of Latin America. I saw him in concert in 2000 in NYC and he was SPECTACULAR!! I absolutely LOVE him and to me as well as the rest of his fans he is "THE BEST!!" Seriously you have to listen to that medley, please. Not many people can say that they have anywhere from 38-40 years of singing and not even being 50 years old!! He turns 50 in April. As you can tell, I am a HUGE fan and he is adorable!!!

Luis Miguel is the greatest singer to ever lived been doing live tours for over 30 years, his vocal technic and ability has clearly worked for him and his legions of fans over the decades.

I first found out about Luis Miguel while watching the movie Speechless in the early 90s and although I didn’t know Spanish I was amazed at his voice. Fast forward to today, I have 10+ albums of his, seen him in concert thrice, and my wife and I will be seeing him every time he comes back to Dallas now that we live here. Luis Miguel is without a doubt my favorite singer!! Thanks for the react vid and please do more of LuisMi!! Some options are La Incondicional, No Se Tu, Hasta Que Me Olvides, Por Debajo De La Mesa, Amarte Es Un Placer, Me Niego A Ester Solo, Suave, Suena, and Hasta El Fin. One thing I can say about Luis Miguel is that the music and voice you hear on his CD's is the same quality you see and hear in a live concert. Not many artists can say that. Beyonce and Adele sound the same live.

There are great singers in the world with great vocal skills and iconic songs, but most of them can´t sing the same way or even better like they used to do at their peak as singers. This guy is the exception, Luis Miguel is simply something else.

Just a very amateur singer here. Being pro doesn't mean your tech is perfect, and certainly it doesn't mean you can't have some peculiarities in your particular style that can hurt you in the long run. Sustainability is not precisely a requirement for being pro.

The thing with luis Miguel’s concerts (almost 2 hours singing) is that by the end he sings mariachi music which is not what he is most known for (in 38 of career he have done 2 records with mariachi )but he does a sort of tribute to Mexico and he have fun ... so the voice could be a little bit tired by then , still he has everything 💕

Luis Miguel has one of the most beautiful and powerful voices in the world. He is amazing. He truly sings from his heart. He started singing when he was 13 years old. At 14 he won his first Grammy and sold 140 million albums in Spanish alone. You should definitely listen to Lá Incondicional. He's voice is definitely crystal clear.

La bikina is a Mexican Folklore song...Mariachi Style...The song was written about 1964 By Ruben Fuentes.
It is a Mexican song composed by Rubén Fuentes in 1964. According to Fuentes, he wrote the song after a walk on the beach, where his son told him that women wearing bikinis should be called "bikinas." Although another version states that the song is inspired by the time of the cristeros. Luis Miguel performed this version of La Bikina in his tour in Argentina in year 2000...This was recorded live in his Album of the same year

The thing is, the sss sound it's his thing, it has always been a characteristic of him, aaaallll his career. That's how you know it's him.
I appreciate your take on him and your honesty. One thing no one has mentioned is that this song is a “ranchera”/mariachi song which is why he sings it with a huskier tone. There are plenty of live shows with ballads where he has a bright sound.

I'm looking forward to reacting to La Incondicional. I am a huge vocal pedagogy nerd, and it is clear to me that no man could have a career as long as his without a great technique. I think he probably knows that the style of La Bikina and the extra darkness he creates/the huskiness he uses *could* wear his voice down if that's what he did 100% of the time. It makes a lot of sense it was just a color he adds in occasionally, and that he can sing in many different styles. Variety is key to longevity of singing in a lot of ways and he has GOT IT! :)

He’s worth taking a look at as a kid and teen. He had such a gorgeous tone. What’s interesting is that his technique is better now at almost 50 than when he was younger.

Thanks! I’ve gotten a lot of unhappy people responding to my analysis here, but I really stand by it. I’m coming from a place of not knowing his history or his singing at all, and I really do think if he performed every song with these dark colors and the tension it takes to create them, he wouldn’t have had such a long career, but I also saw (and heard) that the instrument is beautiful, and a lot of physical responses that smart singers do to alleviate that tension.
Since I filmed this I’ve listened to a lot more, and I know now that this was just a specific color he used for the performance, and that he has a ton of depth and range in his voice- he’s a really versatile artist!

He’s a SUPERSTAR, his voice needs no explanation, no need for suggestions he’s managed just fine, his music and singing is legendary.
You need to listen to a medley that he sang live in 1994. The last song of that set is called "La Incondicional" and what a way to end a medley!! He won his first Grammy at 15 (youngest EVER) and he is the #1 singer in all of Latin America. I saw him in concert in 2000 in NYC and he was SPECTACULAR!! I absolutely LOVE him and to me as well as the rest of his fans he is "THE BEST!!" Seriously you have to listen to that medley, please. Not many people can say that they have anywhere from 38-40 years of singing and not even being 50 years old!! He turns 50 in April. As you can tell, I am a HUGE fan and he is adorable!!!

I first found out about Luis Miguel while watching the movie Speechless in the early 90s and although I didn’t know Spanish I was amazed at his voice. Fast forward to today, I have 10+ albums of his, seen him in concert thrice, and my wife and I will be seeing him every time he comes back to Dallas now that we live here. One thing I can say about Luis Miguel is that the music and voice you hear on his CD's is the same quality you see and hear in a live concert. Not many artists can say that. Beyonce and Adele sound the same live.

There are great singers in the world with great vocal skills and iconic songs, but most of them can´t sing the same way or even better like they used to do at their peak as singers. This guy is the exception, Luis Miguel is simply something else.

The thing with luis Miguel’s concerts (almost 2 hours singing) is that by the end he sings mariachi music which is not what he is most known for (in 38 of career he have done 2 records with mariachi )but he does a sort of tribute to Mexico and he have fun ... so the voice could be a little bit tired by then , still he has everything 💕
