    This song is a very melancholic song, the lyrics say that he is the "sadden one" so he is singing it as almost a sorrow in his voice, and the interesting part of this specific song/video is that it was an original and was sang for the very first time. In latinoamerica he is known as the prince of the song, the first artist in latinoamerica (as far as i know) to have a whole disk in the number one at the same time, the whole production.....

    You need to check lyrics, vibrato is just for sentimental, emotion and dramatic tone, he's always singing about sadness, as if he's going to die by it.
    He is telling an story, about him dying because she isn't there anymore, in another phrase he is telling "her" that everyone tells him about how sad he looks, and he in his mind answer them "don't they know, everytime he reminisce about her, that's the way he could go thru".

  • @vKAlekhine

    That ending vibrato that you said it's for colour, it's used to simulate sadness and a little of a crying voice.

    This song was performed live and he won 3rd place, and he sang this song before it was recorded. His father was an opera singer and his mother a pianist, besides the techniques used in his performance, that's half of the magic of this song, the lyrics have the other credit, the words and the way he transmits the sadness of the events make it truly unique and special. The song is often assimilated to the sadness after a break up between two people who were deeply in love, however the composer wrote this song a few days after his mother passed away, so the song has double meaning with reference when you lose a loved one. The composer had a choice between Jose Jose and another female singer to perform this song at the 2nd OTI festival in Viña Del Mar (Chile), luckily Jose Jose got to perform it and this song basically got him started in his long successful career, until it lasted, before he lost his voice due to unknown circumstances, come people say it was due to his abuse of Drugs and Alcohol, some other people say it was due to forcing his vocal cords during his performances. No doubt he is one of Mexico's great singers, sadly he passed away last year. He will be missed but thankfully he left great memories and songs like this one and many more behind so we can enjoy them. I liked your reaction. Try to listen to this song with subtitles.

    A lot of the musical choices that he made that you noticed were there to emphasize mood according to the lyrics of the song. I don't know how to express it, it's like you can 'feel' his voice, the sound itself, is 'crying' and 'lamenting' at the same time he expresses sorrow. That's something that made José José special.

    You are absolutely right, he does those kind of "movements" with his voice to add color, it'll make sense to you if you add lyrics to the song, it is all about adding meaning to a specific part of the song.

    I don't know what bravado means in terms of his singing because I am musically challenged, but the lyrics of the song you would have to understand. The song writer wrote this song when his mother passed away and although the song is beautiful it is painful as well. When I listen to Jose Jose interpret this song I feel the beauty of the relationship a son had with his mother and the pain of loosing her. One of the verses says "Today I want to savor my pain, I don't ask for compassion or mercy the story of this love was written for all eternity." Angel you have a beautiful voice I would love to hear you interpret this song.

      Her whole thing is when a vibrato happens and stops, Do we need anyone to tell us this? And do we need to be told that his style of singing is not perfect? His breath support? Give me a break! This guy will runs circle around this lady critiquing.

    There were some very famous singers of the time in the audience. The OTI festival(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OTI_Festival) was an international event where the best singers and composers would compete for the first place. So, in the audience the camera shows famous singers of the time in the audience and they were in awe because Jose Jose was a newcomer back then and so much younger.

    Crazy how he learned the breathing technique from Barbara Streisand

    • @balamsosa7176
      @balamsosa7176 4 года назад +4

      His father was an opera singer who banned popular music from the household, so José José grew up listening only to operatic vocalizers; and that reflects not only on his breathing technique but on his overall singing technique.
