for your mental health, I would put the melee weapons down lmao. But fr you cant play the riot shield this way, you are not supposed to chase people down for kills or even really do damage. The goal of this kit is to play next to your team and just area deny. It is a pretty miserable way to play but sadly it works stupidly well if it is committed to. A riot shield player is the super-support class, committed only to defib-ing, healing, reinforcing walls, placing defenses, chasing people away, and otherwise never letting the enemies push your team with confidence. Look at how often people had to run form you, no one can push a cashout or land on a powershift platform if you are there with your 3 incher and a second teammate.
