OMG!!! Definitely a unicorn in pinball history. The owner is blessed to have it in this condition.
I hope the owner can have it come back for a cleaning and tune up/refresh.
She is a beauty.
Thank you for sharing this with us. And thank you to the owner for giving all of us a chance to see a working example.
I Noticed that the Kicker on the Right Slingshot was not working either. I Love the Mata Hari machine, my dad used to own one an i was always fixing it an playing it, i miss those days.
talk about 1 in a million. I kinda feel bad for never appreciating how complex these things are when I was in the arcade every day.
Thanks Joe, for stepping in and showing us your repair skills too, on this great machine!
Well this was a fun switch up...nice work Joe!
Nice Joe!!! Glad to see you in a pinball machine besides cleaning it ! You nailed it ! I did my first full restore on a Mata Hari . I spent a 7 months completely ripping it apart . New paint with stencils , new playfield . Cleaned and polished everything. It was beautiful. And then I got bored and sold it to by another 😂
joe is need a turn table foe a rock ola nostalgia 1000 please can you tell me where to buy
Thank you Joe for fixing this old beauty, and for the fun video. … What a mighty machine this was back when it came out. The customer should be very happy.
Nice work Joe puff that chest out when you see Ron! 👊
Thanks Joe! Lovely walk through about this classic! +1 to what Chip said as well.
Ron you have voice made for youtube and radio!
I'm pretty good at imitating people, as a kid I always thought Mr. Rogers, Roy Underhill from The Woodright Shop, and Bob Ross were really cool and later as a teenager I used to listen to a guy named John Hancock on the radio, i'm basically just acting like them
Ohh my goodness.... Joe was using a socket and not pliers. LOL
He couldn't find his pliers!
Super Abari in Charlotte has a Mata Hari, love this table! Super fun and unforgiving at the same time
Nice repair Joe
Thanks for making these videos, I really like to watch them. I always like them.
Greetings from Berlin, Germany
Great video! I haven’t seen you guys put one together step by step yet. Still wanting to see you pick one up from the wild step by step.
Really enjoyed this one Joe, thanks for sharing. Appreciate all you do arcade or pinball-wise. Regards
Mata Hari is a great table
I didn’t know about this one tho. Very cool!
I like all the Bally Pinball Machines from the 70’s and 80’s especially Harlem Globetrotters On Tour
That's a great game!
@@LyonsArcade definitely 👍🏾
Hey Ron!! Hey Joe!!
Hey Jason!
I love those pop bumbers they have lots of power.
Pinball diamond 💎
looks so much better, using only a magic eraser.
Heard an old tale years ago that the chimes used on this game and on many other 1st gen Bally solid state games were originally designed for a Bally horse race themed solid state pinball game called, 'Derby Day" or some such that was well into development but ended up being cancelled.
Interesting! That would explain the start up sound which has nothing to do with all the early games it was on. You would have thought it wouldn't have been difficult to program a different tune for each game, hmmm
6:30 this kind of moments when you won't answer your phone... Thanks Joe for this great repair and congrats on the two free games!
Thanks for watching, We appreciate it!
Way cool and great job. Now we also know that Joe is the better pinball player too. Looks like a fun game to play.
Cheers 🍺
Nice job Joe!!
Your right Joe can't tell which target you changed, blends right in.
EM pinballs are the best music in my ears! ;)
that pinball is so cool!
Orbitor-1 also has a plastic playfield with a formed shape so the ball moves in odd ways. 😮
That game is insane to play.
@@justinfiorini3142 100% agreed. I LOVE IT!
Playfield is mint !😎👍Great repair..
Nice video Sir !
That plain yellow cabinet is screaming for some stencils. 😃
Its a beautiful blank canvas. Tempting to add your high score somewhere and sign it. No, I wouldn't do that, but the thought crosses my mind,
Nice 👍. Great Video
I think you did fine job,,,,
Nice work, Joe. We all know you’re the brains of the operation.
But seriously, sucks that this isn’t in the hands of a collector who will cherry it out.
It's a classic Bally, every pin on every wire in every connector on that machine needs to be repinned. This is a must do. Once done mark the machine that it was done and when so the next guy doesn't have to do it.
Sometimes, the simple fixes are all that are needed (bad bridge rectifier). I don't think I ever saw the right sling-shot fire and the ball hit it pretty well, particularly when the left sling-shot sent it over.
Personally, I prefer 5-ball on most pinballs. Every once in a while, there is one that seems to have better play on 3-ball. For those machines that have a difference in play (different scoring or how the unit plays), it seems like they design it as 5-ball and then come up with a 3-ball version and adjust things so it's attainable. But hey, like what you like. I'm good with that too. At least they give one the option!.
Would you be able to uses a DBT when checking for blown fuse shorts? It would save the cost of fuses if it did. Us solid state amp guys use them to check for shorts after doing maintenance.
Oh, a dim bulb tester? It would somewhat work but with limitations. Many coils won't work right on reduced voltage. It would let you know about a dead short.
@@eDoc2020 I thought so. Unplugging the play board would allow for the DBT to indicate a short on the control boards and power supply. Small lamp used in the DBT? In this case, Joe would of been able to narrow down the rectifier quickly.
No artwork on the cabinet ?
@2:39 - Depends on how 'broke' it is...
ron better look out!!! joe is the pinball wizzard;)!!!!!
Are the lamps and coils causing voltage/current spikes that is causing the bridge rectifiers components to get damage?
It was like 46 years old and reached the end of it's life. It's pretty common as the original BRs were underpowered to begin with.
@@RodsPinballVideos They were UnderSpec, not underpowered
@@waynegram8907Correct, poor choice of words 😊
@@RodsPinballVideos its ok , the Bridge Rectifiers have a PIV Peak Inverse Voltage which the coils and lamps are causing spikes on the power rails which damage the Bridge Rectifiers over time. The PIV specs will protect them from the power rail spikes
Is this the version that has "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" on the dagger?
Right bumper not working
OMG.... need to talk about solder. Lead vs no lead... flux, and expiration dates!
Yo, the bottom of your cabinet isn't for storage or a trash bin! You leave that crap down there, pack the machine up for transport, a screw, washer or old fuse jumps up and lodges itself and you set it back turn it on and you wonder why stuff isn't working. Keep your machines clean folks. It's not hard.

Hello Lil Everette!
Let me help you out JOE. IT'S BROKE
How did you know?
Although few Mata Hari's were made with polyethylene plastic playfields similiar to EBD and several other titles they are not particularly valuable, despite durability. The version collectors desire are EM over SS. An EM example in superb condition is worth 6x the SS.
ok
I thought these playfields were meant to be more duarable, but the wear on this one says otherwise. I believe the issue with not continuing with them was that screws would easily strip out.
I play an EM all the time at Past Times Arcade. Love it more than the SS for sure. Also play an EM Night Rider, which isn't nearly as rare but fun to play also. 😊👍💯
I dont like suv's either I wish they would have just kept calling them Van's
I hate to say this but the right sling wasn't working.
Watch the 35.30 minute mark, it’s working, We did end up adjusting it after to get it little more responsive
