I love how the Golden Pheasants sword is hidden in a cane that is peak pirate/powerful person design. It’s just such a smart thing to do and opponents may expect her to be weak or not experienced if all she has is a whip and then bam! She pulls out her sword. The amount of opportunity for just straight up “oh shit” moments is endless

I know I'm a little late to this video but I love the idea of the Golden Pheasant character owning this big, beachside estate and she's actively hosting some bougie art show on her ship when she gets word of the treasure and just immediately ships out without giving the guests time to leave. So she just has these eccentric characters on her ship the whole journey who are all "oh, a real pirate adventure, what a treat! A full performance, the art experience of a life time!" Her personal laws of hospitality would often lead to her needing to prioritize the safety of her guests over the advancing of her finding the treasure and the other crew getting away.
I would love to leave a well thought out comment, something deep about what your art makes me feel, or an idea I have for these characters... However I've been having a struggle of a day, so all I can say is: I would gladly eat your art if it was presented to me on a platter Edit: Oh, also I think Oli would 100% believe he's cursed when his luck runs out, and desperately search for ways to break this "curse"

Have you considered turning different types of cacti into fairy hunters/monster hunters? You turn a lot of flowers and plants into fairies or fairy adjacent characters so this could be a fun twist
i COULD NOT stop thinking of lore for these guys while watching!!! sO, what if Ollie’s grandpa was a super famous pirate/ seafarer that was highly celebrated in his lifetime. But since he’s passed away he has become kinda like a hometown folk hero figure; anyway, his family’s pirate reputation and wealth has gone away over time (maybe being a pirate skipped a generation, so I think Ollie’s parents weren’t pirates/ seafarers) and maybe Grandpa was the closest person to finding this magic-golden-egg-thing. And maybe in Ollie’s hometown there’s like some sort of museum or monument dedicated to his grandpa. So one night Ollie and his bff Iggy have to sneak into the museum so Ollie can, idk, reclaim or connect to his family’s pirate heritage… or something. They sneak in using Iggy’s stealthy nature and Ollie’s good luck and that’s how they find the first clue to the treasure. It was hidden in plain sight among the rest of Grandpa’s pirate artifacts and stuff! (Take a sip of water every time I say maybe) OH!! Also, I know you said you didn’t care about the characters’ gender or anything but I think it would be *SO* cool if the golden pheasant character was a trans woman????!!!!! Like that’s the reason why she appears to resemble the male of the species?? And maybe even as the story progresses so does her transition, and she takes on more qualities of the female bird’s appearance!?!?! I think that would be a really cool way to visually represent the character’s evolution through time n stuff!!!! I love your art so much, thank you for posting!!!!! 😊
character ideas: characters based off of: -intricate or iconic jewelry pieces (such as an art deco bracelet, cartier panther ring, crown jewels, hope diamond etc) -interesting book covers (like leather bound ornate ones, not modern covers.) could be witches! -perfume descriptions, ex: if one has notes of leather and vetiver, those would be part of the inspo board -really chaotic beverages from chain restaurants (Friendly's shark drink comes to mind)

I can absolutely see a scene from before when the adults arrive and it's just the three kids, each holding onto their respective clue as they're camping for the night. They one of em wakes up to the other swinging the weapon in their face as they're yelling about their clue being stolen, the one with the sword in his face realizes his is also gone, and they both look to see the 3rd one missing and it cuts to the third one running away, lol
I remember going to the zoo with a friend and they had this area where you could feed these birds nectar. They would be on your hand or arm as they ate, so it could definitely feel like being a Disney princess. When my friend was done feeding one of the birds, she tried to set it back down, but it proceeded to climb up her arm until it was on her shoulder. Ever since, I have had the idea of a bird at a zoo or pet store wanting to become a pirate, or at least to travel alongside a great pirate captain. This is definitely reminding me of that.
Doliya kind of reminds us of the stories about Black Beard, that the reason he made himself to look so scary and would even light little end of his bread to cause it to smoke; was so he didn't have to hurt anyone or fight. Because he looked so crazy and frightening. Doliya just seems like a tamer version of that. But yeah, a bird pirate family seems like real fun. Sorry to go on abit of a ramble. I love this video!!!! I feel like another dramatic artsy bird pirate lady that could be part of the golden pheasant's crew is based on the bearded vulture. They have cool red eyes, look really villainous, and rub their white feathers in reddish-orange soil to turn themselves red. They wear makeup and it looks like they rolled in the blood of their enemies. I love them!
Greater Sage Grouse (Though your good background noise game was strong) These were so much fun! Puffin and Golden Pheasant were my favorites (Pheasant's outfit looks like a One Piece design in the best way possible).

I think it would be fun to design flowers based on gemstones and also make an environment for those flowers, since you've been practicing backgrounds. Anyway, love your videos, they always get me out of my never ending art block

When you said Cockatiels are just pikachu's I couldn't help but think how fun it would be to take two very different animals and swap their aesthetics. Like a cat but it's a reptile or an Elephant but it's a bird. I think that would be fun to draw. I've been drawing more animals lately as I found out I really struggle with anything that isn't humanoid and will be doing this as it sounds more fun.
🐦 Should make a pirate who is good at pitching their voice like starlings. Specifically the common one. There's also the dragon looking one called the Great eared nightjar, who I don't know why is extremely adorable with their big wide eyes. Than the cursed Potoo (Great ones literally look like they have the pits of hell for eyes) who have a weird mouth and can blind into trees really well.

This is a strange idea, but I want to see you try making tarantulas as princes/princesses. There is so many varieties colorwise and sometimes shape. I'm curious how you would interpret it. Plus I never see you draw anything spider related. It will be different but will still go in the character design aspect.

please do chickens as different types of characters. there are so many breeds which would translate amazingly into your style. the phoenix breed, the belgian d'uccle, the polish, the salmon favorelle are a few of the ornamental types
Being harsh on your work isn't a horrible thing but it might help to not see any of your work as professional / finished but stuff to learn from and continually get better from. The biggest thing i think is holding you back is just fundamentals. You have a lot of skill but might have skipped over some stuff a bit. You would be surprised how much perspective and even just going back to drawing cubes can help with everything else even if it feels super below us because of being advanced in other ways
From the thumbnail I could already tell you were gonna do the golden pheasant, I love that bird and I've been thinking it would make a superb character / fashion design .

Travling horses! A shire could be a Knight, cause war horse? A fiord a Vikings. A arabian could be some Dessert Dude, maybe a Thief? A Friezes should deffinitly be a Dancer. They are offen Seen in dressage

It never fails to amaze me how maximalist you can get with all the details while still making them overall fairly cohesive designs. I struggle so much with adding detail but your work is always so inspiring, it makes me want to try!!! Another feather in the cap of your brilliant videos ^^
When you said Cockatiels are just pikachu's I couldn't help but think how fun it would be to take two very different animals and swap their aesthetics. Like a cat but it's a reptile or an Elephant but it's a bird. I think that would be fun to draw. I've been drawing more animals lately as I found out I really struggle with anything that isn't humanoid and will be doing this as it sounds more fun.

🐦 Should make a pirate who is good at pitching their voice like starlings. Specifically the common one. There's also the dragon looking one called the Great eared nightjar, who I don't know why is extremely adorable with their big wide eyes. Than the cursed Potoo (Great ones literally look like they have the pits of hell for eyes) who have a weird mouth and can blind into trees really well.
I ADORE YOUT ARTSTYLE- but it’s the stories that keep me so so interested! I love listening to you ramble- it really helps me envision the actual world you describe!! :DDD

This is a strange idea, but I want to see you try making tarantulas as princes/princesses. There is so many varieties colorwise and sometimes shape. I'm curious how you would interpret it. Plus I never see you draw anything spider related. It will be different but will still go in the character design aspect.

I love birds! This was great!!! The Golden Pheasant looks like a Cordelia or Persephone. The Dad of the group looks like a Stuart (Stu for short, cuz he likes food).

please do chickens as different types of characters. there are so many breeds which would translate amazingly into your style. the phoenix breed, the belgian d'uccle, the polish, the salmon favorelle are a few of the ornamental types

Being harsh on your work isn't a horrible thing but it might help to not see any of your work as professional / finished but stuff to learn from and continually get better from. The biggest thing i think is holding you back is just fundamentals. You have a lot of skill but might have skipped over some stuff a bit. You would be surprised how much perspective and even just going back to drawing cubes can help with everything else even if it feels super below us because of being advanced in other ways
