    Synopsis:
Brooklyn is the story of a young woman, Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) who moves from small town Ireland to Brooklyn, NY where, unlike home, she has the opportunity for work and for a future - and love, in the form of Italian-American Tony (Emory Cohen). When a family tragedy brings her back to Ireland, she finds herself absorbed into her old community, but now with eligible Jim (Domhnall Gleeson) courting her. As she repeatedly postpones her return to America, Eilis finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma - a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.

"ELLIS LACEY, HOW DARE YOU SLEEP WITH THAT MAN IN MY HOUSE!! I AM ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED! WE WERE UP ALL NIGHT AND IT'S ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT! IF YOU PUT ONE MORE TOE OUT OF LINE, I'LL KICK YOU RIGHT OUT!! Oh Diana dear, I put a lock on the gate. Never know who might try to get in there." *blows raspberry at Ellis*

Why does Diana say that the sex sounded lovely, even though she swears that she heard nothing?

I think it was to let her know that love is not to be ashamed of. Maybe it was letting her know that she should cherish that moment and that the girl that said it sounded lovely was probably jealous.

I think what Diana was saying is that she didn't rat out her out to Ms. Kehoe by saying she heard nothing, but that she did hear and she hopes Eilis knows that she doesn't judge her for it

Happy they kept this out. I think it would hurt the feel of the movie somewhat knowing that Eilis had done something that would anger anyone. As far as we know, everyone in the movie loved her, and we as viewers enjoy that.

That aspect (Miss Kelly being in contact with Mrs. Keough) was in the book, not the movie. In the movie, Miss Kelly learned about the marriage from Mrs. Brady, a wealthy local.

Why do you think they changed it in the film? Do you think they might have felt that having Mrs Keogh tell Miss Kelly about the marriage would make her a less likeable character?

Agreed. Also, the fact that no one knew about the marriage until Ireland enhanced the effect of Ellis standing up to that awful woman and throughout the whole Ireland experience we would have that in the back of our minds.

Didn't now this part was filmed. Enjoyed it when I read the book.
