why do you make apologies when you know your a very good welder. I've been welding for 30 yrs. and am amazed at your work. thanks for the video's. Always learning!

I'm not even close to the welding, but very interested in learning new stuff! Real pleasure to watch you, see your approach and passion! God bless you and your family!
I have done a little gas cutting, enough to know it is way harder than you make it look, amazing job, got a needle gun after watching you use yours, would also like to see a tour of your truck, looks great. Thanks for the video.
Lots of Watson booms in that yard. I keep up with 5 of them myself. The angle of the pocket on the stinger isn’t near as critical as the ones on the flights. Main thing on the stinger is that it keeps the auger centered as you start the hole. We do our stingers as an assembly so we can swap the entire thing out when that happens. Build them in the shop on a jig. On a core barrel the angles and super important!
Hi I would like a to see your rig. You might want to get a remote mike goes on your cover. The wind noise makes some videos un watchable. I love what you do keep up the good work

These are great video's. Love the repair videos, rather than production or fabrication welding but will watch them. Keep on working the stick, your good at it. By the way I'm subbed now and can't wait for more. THX.
I love watching your channel and a Suggestion or request, how about a tour of your truck because that truck looks pretty awesome and I would like to see your equipment you use, welder, air compressor etc. and how your bed is built.
Very helpful instructions for those of us who have to weld outside. I notice you seem to prefer a standard welding helmet classic shape to the auto darkening helmets, is there a reason for that?
From talking with welders Downunder in Melbourne, Australia, the answer seems to be failsafe simplicity of being able to rely on the old school visor no matter where you are or what position you are in. Batteries and electronics can let you down when you need to get the job done. Another consideration could be having room in the truck for more helmets. Each to their own.
You're an amazing man and welder. But I have a question...... how did you get that auger to stand up with out a strap..... did you sink it into the ground???
He hasn't shown me anything I cannot do, when I was pipe welding it was ALL up hill welds now days these kids are running everything down hill I can't believe it's changed this much standards have dropped an amateur can weld down hill.
Love the videos. I see you like precision torch work over a lot of grinding. Do you cut in the part and then work your way to the weld with the torch? I am out of practice but I used to just try washing the weld out first. I guess it depends on what your working on. I have never used a needle scaler. I may have to look into one of those. :) Thanks again.
I'd rather cut and gouge with the torch all day over grinding, lot less labor intensive and less of a respiratory hazard. Grinding dust aint good for your lungs.
@@semajniffirg230 Thanks, I have not used a gouge in about 35 years. And it was a place I worked. I never owned one personally but it might be worth it. Grinding all day at 60 is not much fun either. ;) Thanks again. Gary
What type of rods are you using at what amperage? Could you tell more about those hardened rods you referred to? Great vid just looking for a little more info.
Looking at the rods seems to be 7018 but I never seen before rods that start so easy after the first use. Are they a particular kind of? Do you use a particular generator to run them?
Here I was going to ask you about your weaving technique and you had to go and ruin it for me by explaining what you are doing. Bummer. Could you sometime do a dry run with your rod movement without power. Also, possibly experiment with using a filter so we could see the puddle sometimes. I'm an old fart but, you're teaching me a lot. Actually being motivated to repair and build some stuff around the yard.
I'll be experimenting with some new ideas soon. I have to build up my video tool box first, haha. but yes, those ideas are in the works. thanks for mentioning them.
Thank you for taking the extra time to setup the video. I am learning a lot from your videos. God bless you and your family.

to fill the gap and letting the weld puddle freeze before adding more weld.
