    So true about the cops messing with the Japanese cars more than American cars...When I had my 07 STi I got pulled over all the time and so many exhaust tickets, now I have a GT500 and they don't even bother me much.

    • @iXetsuei
      @iXetsuei 9 лет назад

      Graham Downey And you think this because...? No one ever talks about cross weight when talking about a car's weight distribution. It doesn't matter.

    • @grahamdowney
      @grahamdowney 9 лет назад +14

      no one ever talks about cross weight? your wrong. go to any pro or amateur race, track day, auto x, all people are concerned about is perfect balance and getting a 50/50 balance. its hard to change f to r bias and L to r, but getting the cross weights 50/50 is easy on a car weight adjustable coilovers. obviously you don't understand how corner weighting a car works. he mentioned he had his car setup by the guys at west end alignment. these guys specialize in corner weighting and alignments.

    • @ronkerjake1
      @ronkerjake1 9 лет назад +8

      Metalution There's an option menu on the dash that has little sliders that can adjust horsepower, handling, police difficulty, and weight distribution. He set it to 50/50.

      @iXetsuei 9 лет назад +19

      Beannie654 nope. STI's hold their value perfectly. An '07 with the same amount of miles as a '14 will cost the same. New STI's are noticeably softer because the market demanded it, which is why enthusiasts like the pre '08 stuff more.

    most subaru's feel good when your driving within a limit. Its when you start to push it that extra bit, where it becomes a burden. Some guy completely understeered in front of me at the base of Angelest Crest a couple weeks ago, and we weren't even going 60 around a long bend. Dude almost ate the guard rails but he managed to save it when it got on the dirt :D (kudos). That steering rack and odd suspension rake probably didn't help him. but jeez. I'd never trust a Subura for road/track driving. And if the guy who was driving that car is reading this. NOTE- Late apex, and dont cut the inside lane- on a decreasing radius turn... :).

    • @monkeypainter808
      @monkeypainter808 9 лет назад

      I own a Subaru and agree. They feel great till you approach 8/10ths then their weight bias and suspension design start showing.

      monkeypainter808 14 subaru wrx owner..heavy oversteer when approaching 80 90mph in the mountains on stock suspension, correctable with the right tire and suspension setup.

    • @ConBroHermano
      @ConBroHermano 9 лет назад +2

      Sounds inexperienced. And sounds like the car was stock suspension wise.
      Nothing a little lift off oversteer can't help.

    • @Themayseffect
      @Themayseffect 9 лет назад +1

      ConBroHermano
      He did lift, and that's when it started to understeer. Considering how loud the car was, i can practically pin point how much gas he was/wasn't giving. The suspension was forsure aftermarket considering how low it was sitting. Biggest problem was he cut the corner before the decreasing portion of the turn and shot wide...then he lifted off throttle and braked to late, causing it to understeer even more. Happy tank slapper at the end right in front of me.

    • @danedwards6038
      @danedwards6038 9 лет назад +1

      Themayseffect Well none of that has anything to do with it be a Subaru. It sounds like a guy who didn't know how to drive then setup a car for performance driving... so yeah... that's going to work =)

  • @Zcypot
    @Zcypot 9 лет назад +2

    288WHP is pretty good for almost no mods on the car. Shit my car is pushing 260ish on the dynopack, you guys do the math to compare to other dynos, and it feels so good! I plan to do downpipe and other few mods like blow off valve, I heard that helps with boost creep, better TMIC. MAYBE FMIC but illegal in CA, and other small supporting mods that will allow me to eventually put a slitghty bigger twin scroll turbo. That should put me around 300whp.

    • @jshaw6600
      @jshaw6600 9 лет назад +1

      Zcypot You don't need a BOV, at all (also illegal in CA)... Doesn't help with boost creep. You port the wastegate, or get an external wastegate to get rid of boost creep.

    I'm going to put the over/under at 100. That is the line on the commenters, who all must be Calvin Klein underwear models, who have huge billboards in Times Square, making fun of the owner because of his weight.

    Sweet car, even if that wing is a little obnoxious. But obnoxious isn't bad....
    Question about seats like these. Do they bolt up to the stock rails, still allowing adjustment and whatnot?

    Not all Subies (STi's of all gen's specifically) require much steering, JDM versions (SpecC, RA etc.) have much shorter steering rack

    Guys enough of the hate, give feedback that’s relevant to the car and maybe these guys information at best, but come on, everyone is different and want different things in they’re car, based on wants, needs and budget, hating just shows how sad you are jealous and really just need a life.
    Anyways nice car dude, the Hawkeye is one if not my fav body front end, though the Prodrive 22B STI will always be for me the best and the benchmark STI, like the Tommi Mäkinen EVO6 is to the EVO line.
    Another point I hear allot is people or reviewers always refer to the steering of Subys esp the WRX and STI, some of this maybe true and not saying, I am not can’t be improved as I know some mods have done this especially for a daily driver or road handling, but the 22b certainly from my experience didn’t suffer this and maybe it’s because I have had so many Subaru’s and variants from DLs , Omegas, Legacy’s, GTs, GTbs, Oubacks and Imprezza’s Sport, WRXs, STI, but this is essentially based of a Rally car and each gen is more and more tweaked for road going differs, unlike the 22B and earlier models which were essentially Rally car spec tuned for the road, I ask this go test drive a real Rally car and then comment on the steering of the STI, because and just my opinion based on my experience you are comparing this more street or road orientated performance cars, this maybe more that now as to meet consumers who really are street oriented but reality is it’s DNA and Subaru’s philosophy of cross pollination of models parts and improvement over revolution each year is why it has that Rally DNA, also it’s AWD it will be different to others as well as it’s chassis and engine due to its boxer configuration, nothing else will feel that way compared to an in,one it’s one of the many reasons Suby owners love them. Just my pov.
    Again sweet car, love the vid cheers.

    • @darios9797
      @darios9797 9 лет назад +12

      Frankie G and i bet the 50/50 distribution was ruined by that wing, at least at high speeds.

    • @FronkG
      @FronkG 9 лет назад

      George Washingturnt yh most likely

    • @Amandyke
      @Amandyke 9 лет назад +3

      Frankie G 50/50 weight distribution is impossible on a subaru unless he's added over 300lbs of ballast in the rear of the car to overcome the 60/40 weight distribution on the sedan.

    • @hamdini05
      @hamdini05 9 лет назад +7

      George Washingturnt You clearly don't understand weight distribution. Its in reference to inertial weight. Which the downforce doesn't contribute to.

    • @darios9797
      @darios9797 9 лет назад

      Conrad Nark yes it does, at high speeds that wing is going to do exactly that, it adds weight to the rear of the car affecting the weight distribution when cornering at high speeds.

    The steering input had more to do with the steering ratio. They've tightened that up in the most recent STI. My BRZ steers worlds better than my old 05 STI. I don't get the obsession with hydraulic steering. It's not all that great. I liked the 04/05 USDM front end better than the 06/07.
