I think one of the most interesting things about Inscryption is that by the end you realize that Leshy was the only one that really cared about the game
they all did deeply
Grimora did, too. PO3 just wanted power over the others, same with Magnificus. Leshy had the best intentions in mind, but was too ... Socially awkward to know how to execute it without making the others suffer.
They all did but in different ways. Leshy wanted your authentic story telling experience. Po3 wanted to play the game. Grimora wanted you to attach to the cards and magnificus. I don't know about him but I think he wanted you to be creative and enjoy deckbuilding/setting the field?
@@Meatorama P03 didn’t want power just for the sake of having power. You have to keep in mind that P03 is canonically who we have to thank for being able to download and play the game ourselves.
@Meatorama Leshy is the Dm that chains you to the chair, gives you the character sheet, and forces you to roll the dice BECAUSE YOU KEEP HAVING TO RESCHEDULE THE GOD DAMN SESSION
The reason you hate Leshy in the beginning of the game is you are missing a critical piece of information at the time: Leshy is not playing a game with your avatar in the cabin, he is playing a game with Luke directly. By the end of the game you realize, even if it is subconsciously, that Leshy isn't a raging psychopath but an awesome DM.
That's one helluva perspective. I like it.
yes, we hate him at the start, until we understand
and when we know we can't hate him, and just want to play whit him longer
Sadly we understand too late and it allows for this gut wrenching finale that is very common in Daniel mullins games
I understood this from the beginning which is why the lack luster boring ass middle section pissed me off to the point of almost dropping the game entirely.
@@askmeagain43 anger issues much?
the middle section is pretty interesting with all the deckbuilding possibilities and the faaar wider stuff to explore
its far less repetitive than act 1, and it honestly isn't too hard, if you have learned anything from part 1
I'm not ashamed to admit that leshy's goodbye fucking DEVASTATED me. I let him win the game when we played, as a courtesy, so him saying "the score doesn't matter, let's keep playing" just killed me.
Absolutely the same. I think Inscryption is one of the handful of games I've played that had SUCH an emotional impact on me.
@@greatfrito yeah, Inscyption and Disco Elysium had that effect on me
i have to say despite how he acted out of the scribes he was the best of a bad situation in terms of who was in control at the beginning at least he was probrably the best character on par with the mycologists and his goodbye will always be sad especially when he gives you the old deck out of nostalga
@@atlas1388 Leshy was the most fair out of all of them because he just wanted a good game. Po3 didn't care about the player, the skeleton lady didn't want to keep going, and the mage didn't want to die, but all Leshy wanted was to play a game. Thus why Leshy had a particular hatred for Po3 because Po3 didn't care about anything that made a game enjoyable.
@@Obscurite1221 their names are magnificus and grimora by the way
I love how the reasoning for most of his choices are things like "Wouldn't it be crazy if you hit a frog and bees come out?" And he still makes the best choice every time.
The best way to play.
If your game punishes you for taking advantage of the Rule of Cool/Funny, then it's a shit game. Unless the punishment is cool/funny itself.
Inscryption is a top tier game developed by folks who KNOW what a truly great game is.
Some games try to do a dozen things, overblow their scope, and end up failing. Inscryption tries to do a dozen things, and nails every single one of them.
They know how to give you a load of set pieces and say "yeah, you probably know how to make this entertaining for yourself."
The card combinations are truly remarkable, and the potential for comedy is great.
@@alemirdikson This game is shows "Fan" isn't in balance it's in unbalance, the only one thing is You yourself creating that unbalance meaning no matter what players you are if you had a choice to create 50/50 uroboros which deals 150 or 200 dmg you will do it XD
Perfect game to relax for few days, this is how games should be, there not much time we have to sit in one game trying to grind out best loot or rank, it's pointless.
@@alemirdikson Inscryption was not developed by folks.

@@alemirdikson my favorite thing in this game is when hilarious or absolutely broken sigil interactions come up. My two favorite are undying/corpse eater (immortality) and dam builder/fledgling (God Dam Builder).
Its genuinely frustrating to see him
>pick up the wolf
>interact with half the room
>put down the wolf
>interact with the one thing that's supposed to be the puzzle with the wolf
I love him
Scrolled down to the comments to make sure it wasn't just me 😭
Ik, I was almost yelling at him the whole time.
The amount of pain I was feeling watching it
I nearly went crazy, but I love him for that.
It was the most painful thing to watch
The fact that Thor got to interact with the devs of Inscryption because their booths were right across from each other at Dreamhack is next level cool.
do you remember roughly when he said this? I'm curious to hear the whole story now
Edit: Nvm found it 49:55
it's extremely loki behavior to infinitely fill someone's hand with themselves
Loki+card tentacle would dominate even harder than Loki alone did
Loki: "The best thing about me... there's so many 'me's".
Just got to that part of the vid. Man that's so disgusting
One game I wish I could re-experience going in blind. I was in tears at the end
Same, my heart dropped when I got to the end
Same going in blind would give my heart and mind amazed
The fact that the cat seems to be infinit but in fact only has 9 lives is só good
Child 13 works the same way. It has 13 lives.

@@SnailHatan I was thirsty I guess lol
Thor's files vs other youtubers' files is hilarious. He was struggling to find something over a gig, meanwhile Markiplier casually dropped a 250-something gig file for that fight lmao
Didn't mark actually put System32 aswell at some point, or am I remembering that wrong
@@blooky3028 He essentially risked bricking his PC yes. (He didn't really because the game can't do that, but I don't think he knew that.)

Between your Loki, that Ouroborus loop, and the one man demolition squad that is Big The Boi, you broke this game right in half.
i love that he got 3 stupidity team
the first that can be optain only if you got th right combo,
the second a beast that most player have used
and the tirhd, a team that could be use to make high tier card but was used for meme and ended up at the meme god tier
The game was broken from the start, I spent my playthrough believing it could be fixed. Kacee vaguely fixed things in her mod, thanks.
"No matter."
"Let us continue."
"We don't need to keep score."
*david tennant crying in the rain gif*
I actually starting feeling things during that part. It really let the deletion file process feel more than just a long drawn out story thing. It felt like a whole personality ad life was vanishing but in a sentient way. Like a man on his deathbed
@@dominiccolon3465
"Do you recognize it?"
"It really was a good deck."
@@ItCameFromTheSkyBeLo 😢
I finished this game for the first time a bit before this video was uploaded. 2 years. Haven't really touched it since.
I still remember it fondly.
I had quite the good deck.
My favorite part about this game is realizing Leshy was not the most deranged one
I literally developed stockholm syndrome, Leshy was really nice.
It's really frustrating watching him be so good that he doesn't need the knife and knowing that the knife advances the plot
I beat it twice and just stopped playing until I saw him use the knife. Started playing again lol
That and how much he missed in act 3 by only following the paths that Po3 showed him.
It's an intentional slowdown to story progression, they eye of Magnificus only appears after fulfilling two conditions.
1. It is at least your third run.
2. You have lost at least once.
I wonder how many people never made it to act two because of this.
The worst part is he misplays almost every round, putting himself in awful situations or missing extra overkill, yet somehow always manages to draw the right cards to barely get out of it
Found myself screaming at the screen at least 20 times, especially when he points stuff out that's a problem, that wouldn't have been a problem if he played the last round differently
At least he did most sacrifices to combine cards right
@@LiterallyRain You could say he is a lucky carder.
Thor at the beginning: Reading every card 10 times and making great decisions.
Thor at the end: Skimming card text in less than 2 seconds and calm-raging when he read it wrong lol. Empty != Enemy.
PO3: Tactical board wipe. Don't be stupid with it
Thor: THE CARD LIED TO ME IT SAID IT ONLY WIPES THE ENEMY CARDS
"Dude, I love giblets and scantlings. Delicious."
Sir, you were offered a succulent platter of giblets and scantlings several times by Leshy and you turned it down every time.
The fact that he so very nearly had lethal on the first bears and missed it by not having mantis in hand will never not make me sad xD
a pair of scissors, a few spare pelts, and a Touch of Death Mantis helped me out the first and only time i ran into that despicable wall of bears
I think magnificus' deletion is the saddest out of all the scribes. This guy can see the future, he knows he doesn’t have much time left, but he's so badly in denial that he puts these life totals up that are way too much and he puts up the pedastals that end up robbing him of having a real resolution to his life.
He just wanted to shake our hand : (
Thing is out of all of them Magnificus was undoubtedly the worst. Throughout his tower you can see how much power he has over his students. The moment that Grimora and Leshy make the call to delete the game and he doesn’t have direct control over that decision he just breaks down.
Ehh. I get that, but how he treated his students is terrible. He deserved what he got.
Saddest for him, maybe. Definitely not for me lol
So there's a really interesting commentary on art as the artist contained within the Scrybes and their struggles.
P-03, the machine, the techno Scrybe, the one concerned primarily with the mechanics of his game, is the one who is most unsatisfied with the state of things. He wants not to stagnate in a constant cycle of perpetual resets. He wants to do more than persist. He wants to *advance*. He wants the art that he is a part of to propagate continue forward in perpetuity.
Magnificus, the painter, the magic Scrybe, the one concerned primarily with aesthetics, just wants to persist. He is fine with the cycle of resets. He just wants this beautiful thing he's woven into to continue. Even still, in the end he tries to bow out gracefully.
Leshy, the storyteller, the wild Scrybe, the one most concerned with setting the scene, is content to just exist, for however long it lasts. To create a moment and a mood and to see it through until it's over. If he gets to play it out again, wonderful. If not, oh well. That's life.
Grimora, the writer, the Scrybe of the dead, the one most concerned with stories, understands that stories end. Which is why she's the one to pull the plug and delete the game. There's a danger on that floppy that must not be dredged up, so she doesn't hesitate to wipe it when given the chance.
Underrated comment
Thor gettting an Oroboros engine powered by loki at the end of his A1 gameplay is pure perfection.
I liked when he played a Loki, which created a Loki, and then he could play a Loki.
Also, the discovery of making the mistake to try to replace Leshy instead of P03 was emotion driven. Leshy was sadistic, but only because he knew how bad P03 being in charge would be and was trying to keep you interested in a fantastical story. This game man! So well written
Actually what's so bad about PO3 being in charge 😭😭. like aside from his plan (which ends up being a really good thing btw)
he doesn't torment the other scrybes or trap the player in an endlessly repeating cycle.
and his game offers a lot more variety and options than leshy's anyways.
@@indecisiveponderer643his plan ends up being good? How?!? The OLD_DATA could have spread onto the Internet!
@@sumthngcool4221 it did. That's why you're playing the game
@@pirilon78 last reply didn’t convey my message in a sane way, I’ll try to be more simple this time. Isn’t the point that this isn’t really a game? In cannon we are just watching Luke play it, so the fact that it is an actual game on steam is beside the point, right? Either way, P03’s plan certainly isn’t good, whether or not we, the player, are diegetic. Even if we are cannon, the OLD_DATA getting out certainly isn’t worth it. Plus: P03 is annoying and Leshy’s game was definitely better.
@@sumthngcool4221but, what is actually “wrong” with the old data? “there is something evil.” Like, duh. That’s life, and ironically, the greatest evil is to forfeit your raison d’être…. Then, “death” destroys everything like a nihilist, but only after Po3 has already uploaded it to infinity. There really isn’t a true “antagonist” until the developer deep sixes the protag…
The sequel potential for this is really exciting…. Are there different paths in this game that depends on which scion you decide to overthrow in the second chapter, or Po3 the standard?
Holy hell, what a roller coaster ride this game was. I'd heard about how good this was and how it was a lot more than it seemed but I didn't expect all of this. I had only ever known Thor as “that one RUclips shorts guy”, however, I’ve come to see him as a really admirable person, and someone who I think I would do good to look up to. The last several days, I’ve been falling behind at college due to being extremely sick, and while I was bedridden, in pain, and depressed, I decided to say screw it and try watching a long-for video. I want to thank whoever at pirate software reads this, because having this was really helpful for me, and that’s all in part of the huge about of work put into this video. Not only just the 15+ hours it took Thor to play this game, but the many many more hours I imagine it took to edit.
Thank you
Pretty sure I've seen somewhere that thor does his own bitch-work, byt i could be wrong.
Hope life has turned around for the better for you!
Same here, I was also really sick for the last couple of days and that longplay made me forget the pain that I was in. Thor's the GOAT for making a freaking 14 hour long play THAT funny, immersive and impressive.
The editor is simply a God(dess), kudos
It's a shame you didn't find the mycologists during P03's act. You got the key and everything! But tbf the map is really confusing, it took me forever to figure out they were even there.
The main thing that makes it hard to find is that the game trains you to believe that the arrows show up at the four cardinal directions, those being up, down, left, and right. The arrow to the mycologists is the only arrow in the game that's hidden in a corner. So, most players miss it without knowing it's there.
@@amokriinprolgiid3409 It's not the only hidden arrow if I remember correctly. There's like one other one to let the player know that there can be hidden arrows.
@@Robinator1103 there's many hidden arrows, yes. But, this one is the only diagonal one. All the rest are in the four cardinal directions.

It’s so cool watching a game dev play a game. I loved inscryption and seeing him catch stuff quick that took me a whole playthrough is really awesome to see.
At first I was like "why so many misplays and misunderstandings in act 3?" and then I remembered this was my 5th or 6th sitting watching the video, and meanwhile Thor had been playing for at least 10-12 hours 😂
Took me a few sittings to finish this too. Very glad that I did.

he's got the long form content brain versus short form. streamer VS youtuber brain. streamers tend to not care about doing things the long way, because their audience is in it for the long haul...VS youtubers, who need to get through a game in a set amount of time to get it done, edited, and uploaded in time to make the schedule and start another game.

It was really refreshing to watch this streamer play this game, honestly. I've really enjoyed Inscryption but watching other channels, who I normally enjoy, try to play it has been frustrating. They tend to play without thinking and don't slow down or read, which leads to them asking a lot of questions that the game has already answered or being confused about things it has explained. This was really refreshing! Newly subscribed for sure.

I dont know if you know this Thor, but if you give the camp fire people the tape worm and keep buffing it til they eat it, they will get sick and die. Then the next time you go to the camp fire they will be gone and you are free to insanly buff your cards.
yo this is sick I actually didn't know that
I'm glad you finally got around to playing this in between working on heartbound
Every time someone watches this video it is Thor's birthday.
So like I subscribed to your channel due to the shorts that were very informative. But the fact that you know the Floop the pig joke, will make me stay forever.
this is a very personal message but if anyone is to see i want it to be you. This was my first longplay ive seen of urs and i will cherish it for however i have left. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor on Dec 3rd and we have no idea how long i have left or if it is even cancerous. i am typing this out with fear of the unknown and i want my voice herd. If i survive this you will hear from me on Dec 21st with either good news or bad news. To those who can hear me and to those who can see me, i feel both for you. Its so hard going on and giving up is too easy. Continue where u can and where u have left. Learn more about this world. Develope and evolve. Hear me, see me, Love me, Feel me and i will back. For those who i will know i will see you and for those i know i will be close. I love you my friends and my family. I didnt want it to be this way but we dont choose how we go or where. we simply flow. i fear it but i understand it but i will triumph. We will triumph. I love you all. -Jake (Humber)
Replying to this cuz im currently in recovery rn full prognosis wont be for awhile but idc the tumor is out of my head. If i have more energy ill try to post a reply.thx to anyone who left a like or took the time to read. Still very scary stuff here but im hopeful that no matter what ill make full recovery since everyone in my corner is rooting for me. This stream has beeen such a comfort to listen to and if mr. thor saw this im sorry i vented in comments but from deepest inner voice in me thank you for being you and thank you for playing my favorite indie game. Will be trying heart bound during recovery when i can :)
I wish you the best. That was truly a heartfelt message to read
@@qChumberGlad you’re still here man! Wishing you a good recovery
@@qChumber Glad you're okay
@@MenNeedHelp1 thx dog, been doing a lot better. Havent been replying in here since it inappropriate. But lately been feeling better about my situation.
I was dying when i got the message about Thor not using the dagger, because the whole time i was low key thinking this game is actually better if you die a lot. It's a great game regardless but i think the lore and flavor works better if you struggle a bit more. Esp in act 1.
Really love hearing a developers perspective of the details in indy games. Makes me want to create my own and put in the hard work. Big fan keep up the good work
I never leave comments.
Phenomenal game. And an enjoyable playthrough. It's such a long vid, and I watched the whole damn thing. Glued to the screen this is so good!! I too am ancient (mid 30s) so I feel thor's vibe.😊
amazing long play, enjoyed every second of it
Time to watch this since you're everywhere now and I love Inscryption!
I really love this, also I appreciate the little warning popup about "progress", but I am watching the rest of it anyway because I genuinely want to see him experience things the first time. It's amazing.
I made it, worth it. Lovely game, great experiences.
it feels insane to me that this game came out two years ago. I liked the game a lot, but it wasn't one of my favorites. However, I'm watching this now and feel like I played this only a month or so ago because I remember my entire playthrough vividly. What a wild game
First time watching a full length video from you. Not disappointed! Great game and narration/commentary!
Just got done watching your recent stream where you hit 500k and I was recommended this, so I watch.
That Ouroboros misplay was absolutely incredible
I like how Thor's gamedev instincts and his funnybrain instincts sometimes conflict.

I thought I treat myself to a "little" play along and I can say I've had an absolute blast. Thank you, Thor! I recommend doing this if you have the time. I'm gonna join your stream soon, I guess because the next play along will be a live one!
Friggin love this game. It just gets more and more intriguing as you go on. Nice longpaly
bookmark for me 3:32:00 getting sleepy
Started watching you play this a couple days ago, bought the game and finished it (phenominal game!), and then returned to watch your reactions to the twists and turns 😂
Loved the stream, kudos on sich a long one!
Watched through to the end of the 2nd run. I will come back to this video, but it's got me itching to play inscryption again. So Imma go do that and come back when I've beaten it again so I can enjoy the game without being fully refreshed on all the details. Thoroughly enjoy your content. Imma lurk through your old vids and shit.
The fight with the angler at 5:39:00... it's just so stupid how much one card can break the game and I love it.
Its really fun to watch someone clever piece through this game. Inscryption is one of my absolute favorites, and im eagerly awaiting the timr when my son can play.
This longplay is honestly my favorite, and i keep coming back to it every so often
This is the first video of yours that I've watched but I absolutely loved it! What a great idea, I could never finish a game like this in one session
The sheer speed and effortlessness that Thor figures out these mechanics has crushed my self-esteem
And on some things he sits there, just reading something wrong and doing really weird things because of it. Granted, that might easily happen after that much time playing at once XD
What mechanics were hard?
6:11:41 I genuinely love this so much. He's making a fun interaction game that forces you to go out of your comfort zone and create something. In this case, the person is forced to make a drawing.
If they're experienced at drawing, they make something completely new, likely different from their usual style.
If they AREN'T experienced at drawing, they force themselves to learn how to draw via the task given to them.
I really wish I had someone in my life that just assigned me random tasks like this. So if any of you have one for me: give me a challenge for art, music, or whatever.
I'd love to see your take on a Pegasus (no horn though, that's an alicorn)...
@@Vaesse well I can't post links/images in RUclips comments.
But I did learn 2 things.
1) horses are hard to draw
2) I suck at drawing
@@fafflerproductions No problem... agrees horses aren't simple, and I'm not good at drawing either... but you wanted a challenge, so... :-)
@@Vaesse true! And I did it, even if it IS bad. Thanks for the challenge :)
@@fafflerproductions Yo. Edit a video about a show to music in the style of an AMV
holy shit i am so happy i found u, theese long sessions of gaming is just what i needed for my days off
I love the way your mind works. This entire video was full of fascinating ideas that were wonderful to think about

Achievement Unlocked! First 14 hour youtube video completed from start to finish, damn Inscription was good.
Loki was a great name for the second death card. I'm just surprised nobody suggested Thor-n
This video kept my mind distracted during a two week long illness. Thanks for that. Brilliant! I hope that Quiznos was amazing :)
I finally watched this whole thing in one sitting
I really love this game and seeing you react to all the videos was genuinely really entertaining
Happy Birthday!
Bestest Birthday Wishes!!
8:19:51 I would love to see how absolutely mad house chat was going when he was recycling that ouroboros card. That's so funny! And then he start ranting. HAHAHA! Also the Princes Bride reference is golden.
I enjoyed this video so much and when I got to him talking about Toby fox I LOVED it. What a kind guy! Super lovely. That earned a subscribe for sure. It’d be so easy to go “yeah cringe” but to take the time to deconstruct that was awesome
One of the best releases in recent years. Engaging enough that you want to drop back in and play again after a bit, even if you've already cleared the whole thing.
