- Relatively safe in a newsroom, American reporter Steve (Raymond Burr) sets up his tape recorder, maybe for posterity, as the Godzilla gets down to business in Tokyo, in the original U.S. version of GODZILLA, KING OF THE MONSTERS! ('56).

Honestly when you're a kid and your parents are not home and you're looking at this movie there's no reason for you not to believe that there's something out there like that
I'm one who watched Godzilla 1954 with my mother?!???????
I assume that at the end of this fine film, Raymond Burr corners Godzilla with facts and acute deductions, and forces him to confess to his crimes on the witness stand.
LMAO!
Well. Now we know who put Raymond in his Wheelchair.
And Hamilton Burger objects to this line of questioning.
Tokyo might've been reduced to rubble in these monster movies a lot less if Raymond Burr had stuck around to bring all these kaiju to legal justice like that.
He says "Incompetent, irrelevant, immaterial AND inadmissable, in no particular order"!
This was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw and I became one of his biggest fans.
The cartoon network Godzilla cartoon did it for me. Then I started watching the movies
I mentioned it in previous comments but Godzilla 1985:The Legend is Reborn was the very first Godzilla movie I ever saw as a kid and I didn't even know about the Hanna Barbera series till I came across it one morning while watching t.v. and saw it on T.N.T.
Just as classic as King Kong .Raymond Burr is stupendous.
Burr elevated this movie no end!
People always compare this to the original Japanese version, but I say both are great in their own way. I’ve always loved both, and there’s no reason they can’t coexist as two great classic films
Indeed. It's a disservice to compare the two versions, IMO.
While I prefer the Japanese version I still love this version this was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw and seeing Godzilla cause all this destruction and actually kill people was amazing and creepy at the same time and I think Raymond burr does a fantastic job (he also does a good job in Godzilla 1985 taking the film and the allegory 100% seriously)
I need to revisit Godzilla 1985.
I like it when Raymond Burr and Godzilla make eye contact
Dynamic Violence! Savage Action! Spectacular Thrills! See Godzilla, King of the Monsters.
This is one of the bet scenes in the movie. They did a good job of creating the illusion of Godzilla's gargantuan size.
1:02 You can hear how pissed off Godzilla is here by that bone chilling roar
We got a modern version of Dr. Serizawa in the Monster Verse. Now I would like to see a modern take on Steve Martin or Mr. Martin appear in the films. It's unlikely, but would make an excellent edition and easter egg.
This looks so cool with the diffrent roars
I grew up on this version as a kid had it on VHS didn't watch the original Japanese Gojira until I was a teenager. I love both.
Saw this on Tubi TV. Raymond Burr did an amazing freaking job in this movie.
Fun Fact : Burr describes Godzilla as being 30 stories tall ( 100m). This is because the American distributors didn't think that 50m for Godzilla felt big or strong enough.
Credit to Raymond Burr, he approached the role with gravitas and understood the message of Godzilla.
Who would've thought that a guy in a rubber suit toy trucks and trains could be so f##king AWESOME!!!
it was Haruo Nakajima, He Also Played Rodan and Varan etc
I watched this as a kid and it’s still my favorite Godzilla movie!
Amazing that just 11 years after Hiroshima that JAPAN film industry produced THIS movie!
9 years actually
Even tho this version censored all mentions of the tragic theming the original version had, Burr definitely carried this version. Hopefully for Godzilla’s 70th anniv Toho announces a re-release of the 54 film, but combines the original and Japanese cut into 1 extended cut.
Melts high tension electrical towers with the atomic ray. Classic
Listening to the audio alone from this is lowkey scary
I love looking at the film qualities, the Americans film seem to have no marks in the filming compared to to Japanese film.
Great movie and Raymond Burr did a great part as Steve Martin.
Andre just walked out of Tokyo bay and it appears that he's going for the beer manufacturing plant, he's tall as a 60-foot building
HAHA ANDRE THE GIANT
GODZILLA WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Raymond Burr is a Hollywood treasure like Vincent price & marlin Monroe
The 1956 version had been shown on Turner Classic Movies on March 31st of 2021.
I wish the 1954 version, Godzilla Raids again and King Kong vs. Godzilla had also been shown on that same day too.
Godzilla Raids Again was an odd movie. And I was last years(or two years ago) old when I first saw it. The back story of Godzilla was weird and had Anguirus roar like... what?!
@@Wolverine2sweet lol that was the U.S. version originally titled "Gigantis, the Fire Monster". The Japanese cut of Godzilla Raids Again is far superior.
@@christiandenault7606 the hell lol
@@Wolverine2sweet yeah for whatever weird reason Godzilla was renamed "Gigantis" because the American distributors wanted to pretend it wasn't a Godzilla movie, but they still included scenes from the original Gojira during the scene near the beginning where the authorities are discussing the threat of Godzi-- uh... Gigantis and Anguirus.
@@christiandenault7606 wow that's crazy
Awesome just AWESOME!!!!!!
I wonder if the Japanese film makers were thinking of the French Maginot line when they came up with the line of electric towers as a defense.
Andre just raised out of Tokyo Harbor, he had 500 cans of beer, now he's heading for the beer manufacturing plant of Tokyo oh, he's as tall as a 30 story building, and the only thing that stands between him and the beer manufacturing plant is 300000 volts
Godzilla 1954 and 1956 Both Japanese🇯🇵 and the American🇺🇸 is on Pluto FREE Streaming
Raymond Burr gets a lot of undeserved hate from Godzilla fans these days. While I completely agree that the Japanese original is a far superior movie than the American edition, Raymond Burr is hardly to blame. He took his role seriously and perfomed it well - it's not his fault that he was shoved to the movie by lousy editing and that the writing for the american version isn't very good either.
This movie is a fkg Masterpiece. 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️🤘🤘🤘
Godzilla's a lot of hits but he's still coming
This is the real Godzilla
So that's where the Rare Akuma voice clips came from.
Are they showing them right now?
Nope. But they are scheduled for Fridays in October. Probably to coincide with The Criterion Collection release of Godzilla, The Showa Era boxset.
wow

Today?
I wanna say "Hey, Perry Mason, shut up. I'm watching Gojira"
To think this was based on a true thing is weird 😳😳😳
I don't no bout rest of world but a guy dressed in a rubber Godzilla suit y I watch and enjoy old GODZILLA..all the human effort..trains, city's,bridges, aircraft all hand built..butt little did we no Perry Mason loved a man in a different rubber suit...TROJAN MAN...thank God Perry from Canada..
I was a kid and you know I saw you know my parents left and I was in my crib by myself but I knew how to get out of my crib if it was emergency or something you know and this one night I was so alone and I saw other Godzilla and I sort of grasshoppers The Grasshoppers as so why shouldn't I believe that there's something out there like that and protect myself, if they're showing it on TV then it must be out there didn't look no different from the news agencies like this so why should I think anything
一番が逆襲ゴジラで二番が初代三番が1984年のゴジラ
There goes Texas power grid
Original Godzilla 50 meters

BRING GODZILLA TO COURT NOW......PERRY MASON WILL DEFEND ! ! !
Godzilla King of the monsters it just the same thing as gojira 1954
Not really
About a third of the 1954 movie got cut for the 1956 version, and instead got replaced by Burr's footage. It worked well
I like this movie better than the Japanese version
i love this version better
it’s far more superior than the japanese version
@@TheOfficeandGummiBearsFan how?
@@Godzilla-jx9eo because I like this cut better
@@TheOfficeandGummiBearsFan but I like the Japanese version more because it's more disturbing like it's supposed to be.
Uh no. I don’t agree sorry.
That 1954 not 1956
This version is from 1956
Japanese Was 1954
American Was 1956
ARE YOU DUMB OR SOMETHING??????????????
Call some of the guys that I thought I remember all last weekend we did s*** like this
Go Go Godzilla! Blue Oyster Cult!
When you're young kid and your parents leave you alone and you're responsible for certain. Of time and you said Godzilla movie, there's no one there at this time to tell you that Godzilla doesn't exist but I still looking at the Flying Saucer data and all the stuff that we're sitting out there's a good possibility that he's there everything else seems to be out then
I just watched this movie tonight on Svengoolie!💜
