I really like the idea of changing the approach for social media from 'talking about us' to 'having a conversation' with the audience. Years ago, I first thought the solution was to share other people's content that I had found interesting, but then realized that's what everyone is doing anyways. And so, at that time I fell into the trap of social media being a copy of my portfolio, not having anything personal to say and share.
I think the hardest part of this for me is first having something important, unique or just useful to say and put out there. I would imagine that's what a lot of us struggle with.
The amount of gold you've packed so well into a 13-minute video blows my mind. ❤️

Standing out is so important. Out of work because of the pandemic for two years and I have a passion for content creation. I don’t have a ton of experience but I still applied for jobs. I had an interview at a corporate head office for handling all fifty of their stores social media content… and I got the job. Over two hundred applicants and I beat out those that had far more experience. I know I’m outgoing and was honest my whole interview. They even said I wasn’t where they want, but my personality stood out and they will help support me to get me to the right place. Rely on what you’re good at!

Good point on 'buying a project'. I actually partnered up with a potential client and put my own money in as an investment where I was free to design as an investment partner instead of as an architect.
It's never easy to stand out and not want results when you have so many problems in your life to contend with. However, I look at it this way, the more you sharpen your axe, the easier it will be to chop whatever tree down in the industry you want to add value to. And it takes time to build value and develop the skills sometimes. This is awesome advice and always appreciate the content from this channel. Thanks Chris.

Great post on marketing yourself in a way that sets you apart from the competition. Focus on the long game and not the result game was a special takeaway from Chris. With so many people chasing number, there is the question about the quality or value of the content. I would focus my attention on the few individuals that are interested in using my content to grow their business rather than trying to be famous.

"Stand out 1/8 of an inch." That will stick with me. Sometimes we tell ourselves the story that to be good or stand out we have to be extraordinary or head and shoulders above the crowd. The thought of that can feel insurmountable - how can I, especially a beginner/new to the field or market be head and shoulders above the countless rest? Inactivity or paralysis may be soon to follow. If we just think of it as an 1/8 of inch we think - you know what? I CAN do that. This is one of those rare videos I watched again and this time, it hit me. The 1/8" inch principle. I thought I had to be someone "not me" but in fact, just being "me" is enough.. but nobody knows cause I don't share the deep inner wisdom, ideas, quirks. For me, its mental health as an Entrepreneur, Founder, Creative, Multipotentialite. This is definitely something I'm into and in fact, I love to serve in this area of interest. Thanks Chris!
