    Hey Craig, I have one and love it!
    What I did was buy a jconcepts SCT body and bought the following:
    Mad Wagon longer arms.
    Mad Wagon longer outdrives.
    Mad Wagon steering linkages.
    Optional stiffer springs.
    Short course tires and wheels.
    Added heavier diff fluids throughout.
    With the wider stance, this truck is so stable and makes it a worthwhile SCT!

      I honestly haven't been paying attention to sub numbers beyond the fun of it ticking up, but the more I've talked with other youtubers this year, the more I see the subscriber count matters to companies who don't necessarily understand that subs don't predict views - and it's views (and retention) that really matter when you're investing in this kind of advertising.

    Kyosho really does a fantastic job with their bodies. That Tacoma looks stellar!
    Performance wise, it seems good for what it's aiming to be. I wouldn't want to drive it hard but rather treat it to an invigorating beach or trail run. It's a great looking truck but needs to be driven with a bit more care than one might have with an Aarma.

    I'm surprised Kyosho has discontinued the Rampage...I really don't like when manufacturers discontinue products just as they pick up steam. As much as I don't like Traxxas, I appreciate that they keep producing and improving the existing platforms by building upon them.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  3 месяца назад

      This is a good point for traxxas, as much as some of their designs are quite tired. There's something to be said for long term model support, yes!

    • @boduke9428
      @boduke9428 3 месяца назад +1

      @@RCTNTyep. It says we don't like spending money developing new platforms, lol. I'd bet my next 10 paychecks that Traxxas isn't reusing old chassis and still selling 30 year old designs out of an overabundance of care for customers. If so then they'd drop those prices once the R&D investment had been recouped.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  3 месяца назад

      @@boduke9428 and there's the flip side to that argument. Have heard pretty good things about the Kyosho Tacoma and have been looking forward to this video. For $800 it's not cheap but compared to something like the Arrma Mojave, Losi Baja Rey or Traxxas Slash I think it's better bang for buck. The detail is schmick but, more than likely, RIP side mirrors.
    I think Perth West RC did a review on this and found the front body mount can have some issues after impact but was relatively easily remedied from memory.
    Keep up the good work Craig!

      That front body mount is waiting to be killed, yeah. But the looks are incredibly good. No doubt Kyosho guys argued this one around a bit too. Hopefully between now and October you will have a video summary comparing what you liked most and least about them, by then I will buy one for my birthday and I would like to know your opinion. My favorite candidates are the Losi Baja Rey 2.0 (which has not yet been released in Europe), Kyosho KBL10 Tacoma, Arrma Mojave 4S and Traxxas Raptor R.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  3 месяца назад

      Aw thanks! Tacoma and BR2.0 are both absolute lookers, though the Mojave 4S isn't far behind - there's a lot of plastic and interior on that thing. If you want an all-round performer that'll take proper hard bashing, Mojave 4S for the win. Kyosho for shelf queen, BR2.0 for that desert truck suspension experience and Traxxas for, for... hmm. Well, I don't know when I'd choose the Traxxas over the Mojave 4S in particular, but to be fair to big-T, I haven't had a Raptor-R yet. I'll keep an eye out for when they're available in Australia!

    • @Gerar79
      @Gerar79 3 месяца назад

      @@RCTNT From what I have been able to see on RUclips channels here and the Traxxas website, the Raptor-R is basically an elongated Slash with some Ultimate parts (not all) and a very realistic Kyosho Tacoma-style body. Its price of €599 is somewhat higher than the €60 Arrma and little more than the €20 Kyosho in Spain.

    Bought one of these 4 weeks ago for a me to me treat to mark a significant birthday, wish i had gone for a different model, this was very expensive but i thought lets do it as my first ever proper rc was a Kyosho, this is not an SCT its a scale of road pick up, the chassis and electrics are pretty good and once you get the hang of driving it then it performs very scale but the big let down is that lovely body, trust me its fragile, and very expensive, also hard to get thanks to kyosho lack of spares network so i am now waiting for an Arrma Infraction 4x4 mega clear body to arrive for my tacoma, kinda wish i had not bought this truck

    That's a very interesting "truck" chassis. Wild how they designed it to strongly resemble a buggy chassis, lol.
    That body is beautiful but it really needs some Mojave Grom type body reinforcement to protect it from the inevitable crashes due to that scale type short travel suspension. It's a shame that body isn't internally reinforced because it would be great to put on a more performance oriented chassis.

      You're very welcome to come along, Tyler! My car is out of commission so I'm car-pooling with someone else to get there, myself. I won't have a loaner on-hand, I'm sorry. You'll be able to drive your small rigs around and watch the action, but there won't be 1/24 scale courses set up tomorrow, my friend. We do hope to have a small scale day at some point, but I need someone to step up to manage that as I'm currently as maximum load. Catch you tomorrow, it'll be good to say hi :)

    having the shocks inboard of the lca makes them double shear aswell. its def a weak point of the design

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  3 месяца назад

      Good point. Hmm. I don't think bend or shear is an issue with this class of car, though you're absolutely correct. I'm mainly concerned about impact damage to the shocks, as they're just sitting right out there!

      You mean the body? Yeah it's pretty much their best work ever, isn't it!

  • @roysredneckgarage2956
    @roysredneckgarage2956 3 месяца назад +2

    The body detail looks fantastic, but it looks ridiculous on that chassis. It’s like they just slapped a pick up body on a buggy chassis and threw some truck tires on it and for that price I’ll just buy the body and put it on an actual crawler chassis.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  3 месяца назад +1

      The body will last a bit longer that way, too!
