    The only thing I forgot to mention were that you should probably bring RULES FOR YOUR FACTION! In reality, most people can get by just with battlescribe, but that's not perfect. However, lugging around 4 books is pretty heavy, so... do what you need to do, if you get my drift!

    Classic glass: retires grey knights on the eve of them actually being viable in new tournaments, wears a the OP tau shirt as a joke in good fun only to awkwardly stomp a new tau player first game, does well in the tournament while handicapped, loses to the 6’9” man once again dashing the hopes of normal sized people round the world

    Most important thing to do is place all your previous medals of tourney wins out as objective markers to intimidate your opponent and force them to concede because of your awesomeness and experience level ;)
    Actually, I generally take a small plastic leaf folder with print outs of all tactics, statistics, weapon rules and anything else I might need. Easier to flip through 6 pages then all those books. In the back of this folder I put tourney pack and Errata's as needed.

    Fantastic video, mate!
    When I started out I found remembering all my tactic cards a bit daunting, especially under the pressure of tournament conditions (in fairness, I started out with GSC who've a ton of tactics, but since the annual came out, there's a lot more tactics all round).
    I found it useful that Kill Team Manager lets you print off a list of all your available tactics, and then I took coloured pens and colour coded which tactics were relevant to which phase of the game, like blue for movement, red for psyk, green for shooting etc. so that it was easier to see at a glance which tactics were possible at any given time.
    Subbed to the new channel too!

    • @GlassHalfDead

      I probably should have mentioned tactics! tbf I intend to do an entire beginner series on top of individual tactica guides for every faction, so hopefully I'll get them covered there!

      @markmclean9640 4 года назад +1

      I think as learners we would really like to be able to look through the tactics at the start of each phase, but the fear is that we will annoy our opponent, who we think is already doing us a favour by giving us a game in the first place. I was lucky in that I found the London community to be very welcoming, but even so I think it would have been a bit much to ask to stop between each phase to read through all my tactics! Good luck with learning the game, hope you're finding games and enjoying yourself!

      An interesting idea! tbh there's only one that is a "proper TO" as I'd term it. They are an employee of the store and they run the tournaments in said store, but I feel they do it more because they need to as part of their job than because they LOVE Kill Team.

      @@GlassHalfDead I thought you said somewhere else that all the tournaments in London happen because of 3 people. Surely one of them is in it for the love. I am genuinely interested because we have players in my local area but the store does not do a good job of organizing these things.

    • @GlassHalfDead
      @GlassHalfDead  4 года назад

      @@Escapeexes yes, so to my knowledge there are 3 people around London (presumably there are more, but if so they've done such a poor job of advertising that I haven't heard about them!) That have organised a tournament. Myself (I ran it at my flgs which has now shut down, entirely unrelated I'm sure), a guy called Alec (he goes to the big stores in central London and pushes them to run a tournament or at least host it and he will run it) and Sia (the previously mentioned employee). So yes, there's love for the game, but not really by the hosts, just by the people pushing it.
      Most other people, although they love to attend the tournaments, wouldn't ever run one and are happy with with regular casual play.

      That talk would definitely be for an even smaller demographic of your viewers but maybe someone would be inspired to host some tournaments! (like myself). Could also put a little spotlight on these people and give the viewers a peek at what goes on behind the scenes a bit.

It's tough to use that high a cut of v-neck for a man's formal undershirt - but it looks good as a designer T-shirt. Typically v-neck undershirts in the US run nearly as low as a men's tank-top.
      I do actually remember a time in the 1990s that high v-neck cut was popular on printed T-shirts, but they've been out of fashion and absent from store shelves for the better part of two decades now. I think they are due. :)

    How do you feel in a competitive environment about WYSIWYG and calling people out for not representing models correctly, I'm mainly referring to the Eldar player in the video playing with a Bright Lance and calling it a Stat Cannon. I can see in causal play no issue with this but is misleading in a pressure situation if your not familiar with your opponent and can lead to mistakes.

    • @GlassHalfDead
      @GlassHalfDead  4 года назад +1

      So, when it comes to proxies, all I want is for the different models to be CLEARLY DIFFERENT. The HWP there, didn't matter. Now if he had 2 HWP's on the board that were identical but said one was X and one was Y, then I'd probably take a bit of an issue (in a tournament setting). I'm generally pretty lax on proxies though. Let's say you have a group of wyches and one has a shardnet and impaler, and all the wyches are the regular wych model but then the special weapon is a succubus or archon or guardsmen, then it's so obviously different to the others that I wouldn't mind.
      I remember playing against Harlies and having to ask which model had which weapons before I did ANYTHING even though they were all wysiwyg, the differences from 3ft away were hardly noticeable. And, frankly, if someone wants to make a wych squad be all guardmen but then gives them the correct wych weapons, then that's just fine by me!

    • @majortom7186
      @majortom7186 4 года назад +2

      Your opponent should have data cards for all their models. If in doubt ask to see the card. Frankly, WYSISYG is a cancer that needs excising from the game. It adds nothing but the ability for bad actors to bully new players who haven't memorised the look of every single weapon in the 40K universe.

    • @GlassHalfDead
      @GlassHalfDead  4 года назад +1

      @@majortom7186 TECHNICALLY the rules never actually tell us what any of the models look like, so... as long as they look different, they are correct!

    • @boomstick40k
      @boomstick40k 4 года назад +2

      @@majortom7186 see from a competitive stand point I'm the opposite WYSIWYG is essential as best as possible and those who dont follow it are almost cheating by deliberately misleading their opponents.
      My opinion is more formed from full 40k where there is a lot to keep track of and it should be common practice to look at a marine with a heavy bolter and assume it's a heavy bolter and not be forced to memorise its infact a lascannon.
      Now in KT its much easier to remember what a small number of models have but at worst your deliberately slowing the game down to double check what everything counts as rather than a visual inspection.
      Should we therefore not aim to avoid slowing the game down avoid potential confusion and model things correctly and if not why both putting weapons on at all.
      Again for friendly games and what not then proxy with coke cans for all I care but when I dont know you in a timed competitive environment to not be, as best as reasonably possible, be misled or slowed down.

    • @majortom7186
      @majortom7186 4 года назад +1

      @@boomstick40k , I play games competitively. I'm also relatively new to modern 40K games, and couldn't tell you the difference between the weapons of most factions, especially those like Necrons and Chaos that I don't play. Luckily for me and others like me there are data cards that tell me at a glance what my opponent is using, and asking to see the card takes no time at all. Nobody is misleading anyone, what the mini is carrying is on the card. Huge competitive games like X-Wing (1,000 players at this year's World Championships according to the BBC) work fine with cards, as do Kill Team and Warcry. All WYSIWYG does is let people bully other players into a particular hobby standard, and that's one of the many elements that makes the 40K community legendarily toxic.
