Start of the vid: Just getting into Warhammer and specifically Kill Team, so learning lots. No interest in the human kill teams at all but whatever, I’ll watch the vid anyway. End of the vid: hello? Local hobby store? I need a box of those World War One looking fellas, the sisters of battle and those cyborg guys in red cloaks ASAP!!! Great vid for someone like me 🙌
as a veteran player I thought your video was super dope, perfect intro for new people. Hell it helped me out with a few things bc I actually had zero knowledge of the Emperors Golden Boys the Custodians, I mean Adeptus Custodes. LoL
Glad you liked it! 40k just has so much lore to it that it's hard to find a good jumping in point for newer players. I know people constantly reference Space Marine chapters I've never heard of when I listen to lore channels.
I'm confused. So some teams like Imperial Guard can only have one type of models (either Imperial Guard or Tempestus scion), but other teams like Talons of Emperor can mix Sisters of Silence AND Adeptus Custodes?
So there are two systems of how you build a team. The first is the one in the compendium (older teams) that’s the “fire team” system. Each kill team is made up of fire teams and they’ll be different model types (custode and sisters). There is one team that lets you run scion and imperial guard. The other is the “bespoke” method which are the newer teams which are basically one style of model. This would be the Veteran Guard team that lets you run imperial guard but no scion, BUT you get a lot of specialist like a medic. If you want to look at the rules for each team in more detail. Go to the website Wahapedia and look at Kill Team 2nd edition. They’ll have each team listed and you can read through the exact rules.
@@Mak7397 I'm glad to hear it! It's a really fun hobby. There's a lot to learn getting into it (rules, where to play, painting, lore) but it's well worth it.
Ive been trying to get into this harrowing hobby. I just bought a DW Combat Patrol so i could have it even though they're near unplayable in kill team.
@@sophiethesloth The Death Guard still have their original rules and have never gotten an update. At least not yet. So they are fun but may get a newer version at some point. It's hard to say. I'm a huge fan of the Gellerpox Infected, it's an awesome team with some great miniatures. It's going to be somewhere between $10-$20 more expensive than most teams. But you do get quite a few more minis. I think it's 23 in one box.
Thanks! This was super heavily influenced by BrickyOrchid8's video on every 40k faction. I know that's what got me really into Warhammer in general so I was hoping giving that series the Kill Team treatment would help people get into this side of the hobby.
I tried to look up what books they appeared in and couldn’t find it… I just know them from the game. Even on the wiki the only “sources” are the 8th edition codexs.
Pretty sure you glossed over the fact the imperial guard kill teams can call in reinforcements. That’s a total of 14 bodies on the board instead of 10. Sure, bog standard troopers, but 4 more bodies is nothing to scoff at
Hello…complete and utter noob to the war gaming side to WH40k here…is it possible to field tempestus scions as vet guard instead of kriegers? I think Krieg units look dope but I prefer the scions 😅😅
You totally can! When you do stuff like that just make sure you opponent knows what you are doing and is ok with it. If you are mostly playing casually it’s not a problem. The only exception is if you are playing in tournaments, most of the time you’ll want it to be very obvious what your team is just by looking at them
@@NightfireGamingYT i’m semi-new and it’s tough to find entry resources. A lot of people do a good job explaining the setting, but gloss over terms unique to the game rules that people like myself are unfamiliar with. otherwise a great vid tho!
Shame you put this video together mere days before the free intercession kill team!
I just knew they were going to do something like that soon as this video went live lol.
i genuinely appreciate you making this and dumbing it down. it helps as i dip my toes into 40k. thanks again!
I’m glad you’re finding it helpful! I’m going to start the Xeno one soon
Epic breakdown man, it'll definitely help new players.
Thanks man, it’s hard to get your head wrapped around all the options so I’m hoping this helps someone out

Super useful as ever. Such a great channel for folk on the fence about starting in kill team.
Thank you! That's super kind of you to say.
New to kill team looking for advice on faction on budget and fun
Luckily most of the teams are going to be in the $55-60 range now. Any specific faction catching your eye?

Someone else pointed that out too lol. At least we know Slaanesh is.
where is the website that is shown in the first few seconds of the video? I've been there before but cannot find it anywhere now

It’s 100% their playstyle too 😂
So 2 custodes and 5 sisters? That can help my GF since she would like to get into killteam but not 40k
It’s a really fun set up. Just remember those are sisters of silence, not the sisters of battle.

hahaha fair point! I think when I made this I meant for in-game stats. A rifle firing small missiles probably shouldn't be described as standard lol
