    2:00 "My family are large" might be considered correct in British English, but "My family is large" is widely accepted in both American and British English.
    I grew up in the UK and would never say "My family are large".

    • @yourgermanteacher
      @yourgermanteacher  9 месяцев назад +1

      We are aware that this is not commonly used in British English. And actually English was just one example where this exists and might come from. It also doesn't mean that everyone makes this mistake or thinks about it. But fact is that exactly this question already came up many times. And one of the reasons for this is definitely the culture/language a learner comes from... 😉👍🙏

      @@yourgermanteacher
      I understand, as in fact the the sentence is considered correct in British English, but I know of no one in the UK who would say it, "aber es ist, wie es ist!"

      However, I *might* consider "My family are largely afraid of strangers" to be correct, but would still probably revert to saying "My family is largely afraid of strangers."

      @@yourgermanteacher The greatest news I've ever recieved today. I am really enthusiastic to keep on this path because I made a plan that in the month of June next year I will be in the greatest nation on this planet , which is Germany... I am really from a poor family, but poverty is not a shame, the shame is to remain poor and the most important thing my mother told me last night is My son, I am really proud of you, but I want you one day for people to say that I was born a hero and not a dancer on social media. For this reason, I want you to learn the German language and move to that country that you dream of in order to help people there and also help us because we are waiting for you, that is why I study at least ten hours every day....

    Ich bin überrascht weil ich einige hier mache. Besonders mit geboren. Ich dachte, es ist: ich bin ,,in'' 1954 geboren. Und hilfreich 😂. Dürfte ich fragen, wenn man keine Idee hat, wer man redet besonders eine Dame dass ich nicht kenne, was muss ich benutzen?
    z.B. Madam, can I help you? Or Sir, can I help you?
    In Asiatischen Kulturen, ist es sehr unhöflich wenn man kein respektvolles Ansprechen macht deshalb sind wir gezwungen "Herr" oder "Frau" zu benutzen.

    • @yourgermanteacher
      @yourgermanteacher  9 месяцев назад

      Wenn man eine Person nicht kennt und höflich sein möchte, ist es genug "Sie" und "Ihnen" zu benutzen... für beide Geschlechter. 🙂
