In 1989 I was a security guard there. There were only 2 homes finished but the infrastructure was ready. I remember the 2 lakes were finished and I would be the only human for miles around walking around them. It was an amazing project and I'm humbled to see its success.

Just an FYI. The Gila River is still very much alive. It may look dry, but the water still flows under the ground. Also, when it rains, it is very full. I live here.

Thank you for this tour. Was not aware what this “west” side of Phoenix looked like. Would enjoy those fighter jets flying over anytime as a reminder of our pilots and their crews who go above and beyond normal to be the best.
I moved from California to Goodyear 5 months ago. Now I'm currently having my house built in Verrado. Move in next month. So far I'm enjoying Arizona as much as possible nowadays.

Hi, not knocking that area but lived in Estrella Ranch for about a year. Worked in Phoenix and felt like the community was too isolated and took 20 minutes to get to the 10. Ended up buying a house in Gilbert. East Valley is more developed and there are more highway options to get to Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe etc..I did like that the neighborhood had block parties and people wanted to know each other. People keep to themselves in my new neighborhood.
One thing to keep in mind about Goodyear is that Air Force base is active (in normal times). Meaning you need to remember there are fighter jets flying around frequently. Many people move there and then start complaining about the noise.
That is the sound of freedom !
Also Goodyear is a good 8 miles away from the flightline. I used to live right across from the runway in Litchfield Park and it was not a bother, especially when it comes to feeling safe and FREE. I live in Goodyear now and we can hardly notice the air traffic from Luke AFB.

15 miles from Phoenix, approx 35 miles to Mesa.

This is our pick when we move out there! Loved the video! We were out there checking out places and fell in love with Goodyear. We wanted to go out again just to see more places but now with COVID it will be a while. Wanted to see Peoria and Gilbert, how do they compare? What’s your feedback?
Estrella Mountain Ranch is likely the nicest looking area in Phoenix metro, Lots of people sit near those fountains around dusk and watch the sunset. It is still kind of an island of its own which is one of the best parts of the place, yes you do have to drive a bit more but once your out there it is a lot more peaceful. When no covid19 stuff they have their own firework display, they also do food truck nights and car shows near the big community center with the pool. you will love it if you can handle the driving
Catherine, we just bought one of the vacant lots you see at 7:23 in this video. Moving from Oregon. We toured Chandler, Queen Creek, Gilbert, Goodyear (Estrella only), Verrado and Litchfield Park. We wanted a quiet neighborhood away from Phoenix but plenty of things to do. Estrella fit perfectly for us (empty nesters!) Some things to know about EMR. They have a $13,219 tax lien on every lot. That means it's a tax for you if you buy in EMR. You can pay it bi-annually for may years, pay chunks, or pay the whole thing off when you want. It's really not bad and didn't keep us from buying when we see what you get from EMR. HOA is $111/mo but you get all access to the gyms, clubs, water park etc. Golf is also a very good deal for such a nice course. Full annual pass for a couple is $4500. Verrado was about double that.
@@kaithillmann3202 is this what they call the CFD tax? (some people refer to it as a Mello-Roos tax)... I’m close to purchasing in EMR; the sales agent told us we will have an additional (CFD) tax and that we’ll be paying about $3,500 in total taxes a year. Any info you have on this is much appreciated. Thanks.
@@VanEssa-56 yes exactly. CFD tax. It's $13,200 over 24 years. You can pay on it however you like. Pay extra, or pay off early. Our house is in the Lucero neighborhood. Will be done in June!!

Lots of cars on the road with air conditioning. If you have to work outside to make a living. You will turn into a angry person over time. The Jets are being converted to freighters.
What does that even mean lots of cars with air conditioning?
My wife and I can’t wait to get to Phoenix. We plan on buying a house in a year or so. Goodyear looks great!
At 7:23 in the video he shows the Lucero homes from Pulte homes. We just signed on the vacant lot you see that is farthest away, next to the last complete home. Was one of only a few left so we bid and won last week. Decide on Estrella over Verrado mostly because of costs. Verrado is very nice, but homes are a bit more and golf is DOUBLE the price! There are more homes being built in Estrella deeper in the neighborhood.

The airplanes are parked for Covid 19. A lot of airports are parking lots. Oh and they are Tract homes not Trek homes.
No it's not that type of airport..I go past every day..the huge planes are always there..only little two seaters take off from there..
@@lukeplassmeyer5942 You are correct, Goodyear Airport isn't an AirForce base, Luke Air Force base is on the Northern edge (Flight path) of Goodyear. I have an ex-Air Force friend that lives way South of the Air Base (Estrella Mountain Ranch), and loves the sounds of freedom but has mentioned a lot of his neighbors aren't big fans. I only mention it so prospective buyers are aware.
I fly out of Goodyear 2-3 times a week and the parked planes has to do with COVID. The planes are parked there because of the Aersale company which is an Aircraft maintenance, parts and refurbishing outfit based at KGYR.
Actually this aircraft is there all the time, Goodyear Airport is mostly a maintenance facility and some storage for aircraft. Lots of light airplanes fly in and out of there as well.
