Basically Dobsonian is an low profile Alt Az mount with a Newtonian telescope mounted on it. So if you want to put a Newtonian or a refractor, yes you can do that I had shot andromeda with a DSLR mounted on a Tripod which in term was placed over the EQ platform, the thing to take care is to keep the Center of gravity low so your system doesn’t fall off and break. Also note for DSO imaging you will need a dual axis guiding on the mount. EQ platform will only track and prevent field rotation but not do auto guidance.

Suggesting a telescope will depend on where do you live - how much light pollution is there and what is your primary interest visual or astrophotography? Are you familiar with night sky and navigate using star hopping or you will need a goTo. If you can answer this I can suggest some best ones and you can select based on your budget.

Also it’s viable to make a design if there is at least order if 10 pieces for one specific latitude, else India latitude variation is quite large so will be difficult to cater demand from all of the latitude bandwidth without design standardisation.

Why does the background audio keep spiking in between you talking is driving me nuts
I went through my share of learning curve, my apologies for it. Hope the newer videos does not have this problem.
One piece of software, I found invaluable, when building my platform, was a spreadsheet, designed by {someone?}. Search for eqplatform_calc2012.xls.
Sure I will search for it, I made one for the drive ratio and tracking accuracy calculations which will be covered in EP07.
