    Buying a telescope was my Longterm wish and I recently fulfilled it by buying an 8" dobsonian telescope. Your videos are enlightening...     Can you do more untracked deep space astrophotography with the 8 inch dob ? I am getting a 8inch dob with 800mm focal length . Must be good for deep space and planets right ?

      @CJFromGroveStreet yes. You have tons of live streams with my 8 inch where you can learn EAA if you like. But it doesn't matter the telescope, the method it's the same so i recommend you to join our live streams

    So you need an equatorial mount, not the usual nount that comes with the dobsonian like with GSO telescope. But then how do you achieve the tracking of subjects?

      no. you need tracking. you can either use an eq platform below the dob or a go-to dob

    I'm new asking questions on sharp cap what do I go to in sharpcap to see my image on the screen so I can get it centered before I start imagining

      There's a learning curve. Start by just connecting the camera and point to a bright object. Adust GAIN and EXPOSURE.

    Antes de ver os seus vídeos, nunca tinha ouvido falar das plataformas equatoriais. Como funcionam? Já percebi que coloca o telescópio em cima da plataforma e ela de alguma forma desloca o telescópio, simulando uma montagem equatorial. Mas como? Só em azimute, deixando a altura ao cuidado do utilizador? São muito caras? Fica a sugestão para um vídeo. 😉

      OK, já percebi que o telescópio fica em cima da plataforma e esta tem um quadrante que vai inclinando o telescópio entre os limites de 1h. Quando chega a esse limite, tem que reiniciar a plataforma e voltar a encontrar o objecto, para o observar durante mais 1h. A plataforma tem uma escala para regular a latitude (que é igual à altura do pólo celeste). No entanto, inclinar o telescópio 38°... A sua plataforma na imagem não parece tão inclinado.

      That's a cheap telescope. I also have a cheap telescope from celestron. Just enjoy it the best you can as it is and save to buy an 8 inch dobsonian. You will love it. 👍

    I am having problems setting up my goto I am in Brisbane Australia and Iam not sure of the sky I should puting into the the handset. I have it on the south and east sky. Is this right

      I don't have a goto, i can't help you. Try to google it to see if you find the instructions for your goto telescope or contact the seller.

    Remember for those wich don't know on Sharpcap there are 4 kinds of histograms !
    ATTENTION!
    Many fellows don't know is same clear or reset Be aware not spreat this ambiguity/confusion !
    This reset is plued either pefire live stacking and after.Many are confused ; I am derouted, myself aply them without much thinking like a robot

    Another great video Tiago. I will have to use some of the settings that you suggested. Taking images by way of EAA seems the quickest way to get things done. Good job.

    Tiago - I have a question regarding the Equatorial platform. I seem to recall you mentioning that it can be adjusted for a given latitude. If that is true - you perhaps have a document or manual that the company provides for how to do that? Is it possible that document is available online somewhere - where I can download it and look at it? Sincere thanks!

    for starting eaa do you recommend the virtuoso 150gti or the manual 8 inch dob? Considering that goto tracks objects

    Grand Bravo pour cette très intéressante et utile vidéo . En effet j'utilise un Nikon D5200 monté sur mon N203/1000 GOTO j'obtiens de belles nébuleuses planétaires M57 M27 ou amas M13 mais entourées après empilement sequator uniquement de très peu d'étoiles ( grosses et baveuses).Même chose avec M31 où j'obtiens le cœur mais pas assez d'étoiles !!
    S'agit il de la Coma ? Dois-je réduire la focale comme vous ?
    J'ai aussi une camera bresser full HD deepsky 1;25.que j'utilise pour observer les planètes. Serait-elle meilleur pour le ciel profond ? A priori oui en utilisant le logiciel sharpcap !!

      Yes, you could be Oversampling. I never used DSLR to imaging. The best option is a dedicated astro camera like the ZWO cameras.

    Tiago, I'm a subscriber and watch all your "very well done" videos! Question: I use a GSO 8" dob. If I bought a ASI224mc, would I be able to get focus without needing any other equipment, like barlow or focus extender etc?

      Yes i have focus with it on my 8" and also my 12". The 224 is inexpensive and good but remember it has a small sensor, thus, small capture area.

    How is the earth rotation being counteracted for these long exposures? Is it all done in the software or does the EQ base for the dobsonian has electronic tracking, I am not sure I got that part

I am in the process of choosing my first telescope and I want something that will allow me to do decent visual astronomy at first but also start doing photography at some point. Up until now I thought photography was impossible on a big ass dobsonian, and it was the only factor that made me look for smaller ones (with whatever that means for the visual astronomy experience).

      @@MitchKarajohn you need tracking. Buy a go-to telescope or buy a regular dobsonian and also buy an eq platform. One or the other.

    Or if you have the money, buy gen 3 pvs14 night vision device and you will not need cameras, tracking, editing too see things, even light pollution will not be a problem.

    Hey Tiago, new viewer.. New to the rabbit hole that is the telescope scene.. If you buy a GOTO 12-14" enabled dob, do you still need an equatorial platform? And for context, I would like to venture down EAA with my dob at somepoint. Thanks!

      Welcome. With a goto you don't need eq platform. EAA is a great way to enjoy the sky stay with us to get there easier.👍

    Sir, I understand you’re using SharpCap for image capture, but I wanted to ask - what software are you using for scope/go-to/tracking management?
    If it is also SharpCap, how so?
    Am rewatching a lot of your videos just trying to learn as much as I can .. but, there’s a lot to learn! Enjoying it though .. well, with few instances of ugly language. Ha!

    Recently got a 10 inch StellaLyra dobsonian and now interested with doing EAA.
    Just looking to see which good zwo camera to try as a start that is not too expensive. Looking at the 224 or 178 so far. Or what would you recommend. Mostly starting out as I see the camera you have is definitely better but also more expensive.
    And then an asterion ecliptica pro for tracking.

      Congrats for the 10". I strongly recommend the zwo294 for your Dob. Mine is the uncooled version which is cheaper. If you can't, the 224 and 178 are ok but you will want a larger sensor in the future. I have a video about my camera choice: ruclips.net/video/eXx0dVCgP7A/видео.html
