I think this is the first time I have appreciated the use of glass bricks - I can imagine the light from the shower into the living area at night would be truly lovely (a night shot in each video would be a welcome addition). Very clever design in this one.
✨✨👌🏼 The only thing is i wouldn't have put wardrobes next to the cooking area because of the smell into the clothes... The mirrors are brilliantly placed, and the tiles from the shower brilliantly settled.
I loved the flat. But my favourite part of the video was when the designer said with a flourish, “we installed a big kitchen because the owner loves to cook…” then showed the cupboards and fridge open with only two oranges and some condiments… THAT is the kitchen of a bachelor in central Madrid!
If I lived in a small apartment in a big city, I would also only have a few days of food, because it's what I could carry back from the shop. But the spice rack would be more than 4 items! 😆
That was a challenging space to begin with. The original dark wooden beams of the slanted walls felt very oppressing - by painting them white and adding skylights it feels much more airy and the additional light enlivens the space. One also has to take into account the climate, during summer you need to counter the heat by creating airflow and using cool colours. Love the colour palette!
I loved this apartment for its use of color and uniqueness. I realize it’s not for everyone, but it is beautiful and furniture can be changed or added if needed. Lots of storage that is a real plus
I personally don't like the color of the kitchen - it's like someone couldn't decide if it should be green or yellow. Could be the lighting. The desk seems a bit uncomfortable - not practical to do much with. It's a design element where you also can place a laptop - but not much else. Might be because all seems a bit steril (+a lot of white, that's not broken up 😂)- not really lived in. 🤗 I liked the blue tones, but not much else.
I really liked the final result. Three things I would do differently. I would extend the kitchen furniture until the roof to gain space and void dust accumulation over the top; the sitting area doesn’t look comfortable for long hours of work; equip some of the lower cabinets with drawers for better access.
Among all the meticulous details that made this renovation project a success, there are two major things that really breathed new life into this old attic: the use of various bright colors and mirrors. These two big ideas blended perfectly with other details to give this once old and dark attic a bright and voluminous look, wowing those who see it. Another element that also played a critical role in making this renovation project a success was the architect's efforts to make the apartment not just livable, but also individual and significant for the owner. The owner works in the film industry, so the architect tried to make the renovated apartment look like a film of Wes Anderson. The owner likes to cook, so the architect tried to carve out a full-size kitchen in this small space. Such efforts to make this place a reflection of the owner's profession and personality are as commendable as the ingenious design. I saw in the comments that some viewers genuinely disliked the orange chair by the triangular working station. Everyone is different when it comes to tastes and preferences. What one person dislikes could be a gem in another person's eyes. 😉 The owner appears to like that abstract orange chair a lot - it is part of what makes the apartment a reflection of his tastes and preferences. Thanks for sharing!
By getting rid of overpowering, old and oh-so-boring brown, the apartment has been transformed into a White Canvas and become a BEAUTIFUL, "Just" Beautiful, Piece of Art. 🎨 And the location is cherry on top. Love it! Thank you Never too small.
Wow, what a transformation of an awkward and dark space. Clever design elements, along with generous amounts of natural light and vibrant colours have created this apartment into a stylish home. Probably one of the best you have featured given the restraints the architects had to work with.
Many leaks when it rains, terribly hot in the summer, freezing in winter. Those type of attics weren't made to live in, and Madrid has become infamous for housing where it shouldn't.
The use of innovative color choices and well positioned mirrors integrate well with capitalizing on the structure of the sloping ceilings. Excellent idea of how to use the glass blocks for the shower and light dispersal. The NTS videos are an inspiration to me as an artist.
Another brilliant flat. Personally I wouldn’t want the shower in the bedroom, but what a transformation from the apartment’s previous state. What a terrific home. The colours inspire me.
With the severely slanted roofline I think this design made the most of the space. I love the yellow kitchen cabinets and blue round dining table with pops of orange. The only thing I would change is that I would add two colorful upholstered chairs by the window in the main living room. From what I could see the chair in that space looks uncomfortable and has a towel over it! Great natural lighting throughout. This is a very nice apartment.
Those Bertioa side chairs are fine when purchased with the seat pads as they have done here. They are classic design, extremely well made, sculptural and transparent in this small space. I agree with the client / architect's choice.
I have had these Bertioa chairs with seat pads for decades & they are fabulous and comfortable. If you look closely at the end the chairs have white seat pads.
I really liked the pure bright light in this home. I loved the pale soft yellow on the kitchen cabinets, it’s beautiful. I liked the clever storage, and the large format floor tiles. I like the use of mirrors but, would use them above head height where possible to still bounce light around, without the distraction of constantly seeing my reflection on multiple walls around my home. I did not like the desk at all. Overall, from what it used to look like, I think the transformation was incredible!
Loved this design! ❤ As an Hispanic originally from Guatemala, South America, it is so marvelous how this design combines the traditional Terraza-Baldosa floors with modern architecture and design. Love it! ❤ Annndddd..... I want that 'Terraza' 😁
Normally I hate the white wall effect, but in here it really serves to make the colors pop and feel even more vibrant and impactful. This space looks very elegant!
a perfect example to having a vision and a creative brief because although i don't personally like the chosen furniture or resulting aesthetic, i respect the commitment to the project!
Well, actually I think that "before" picture of the main space was much more cozy and expressive than "after". The utility of "after" is better, no doubt, but color cheme makes it look a bit like a hospital rather than Wes film. Also lots of mirrors is not that good because they tend to polute by everything and need to be cleaned often. Simply adding skylights and organizing floor plan, storages but not painting everything white would be better solution to keep the soul of the apartement. That's only my opinion, project is good anyway if a person who lives there likes it.
I agree, the original wood colour was amazing, I don´t understand these new trend of doing everything white with spots of extremely vibrant colours... makes everything looks really unpersonal...
Great size... Bright light colours.. just needed a few softer touches..sofas. Cuddle chair .. it can still be classy .. The bedroom needs some warmth... love the skylights definitely adds to the brightness especially with mirrors...
Wow this is fantastico! Love the use of skylights and mirrors making an attic apartment full of light and seemingly spacious. The colours are fun. The light yellow carpentry adds calm. Storage solutions are brilliant. This design is very innovative.
Loved the use of color and the space was incredibly well thought out. I like the minimalist furnishings but I might have opted for something more cozy for sitting on at the desk. I appreciated all the natural light and the fact that the balcony was an integral part of the living design. I could def see myself living there.
Wow. I love the design. Really spacious and has a great flow. Love the kitchen cupboards and the mirrors tricked me. I thought that the cupboards just kept going and going, lol. Great use of space.
Wow. This design is not what i would normally like but it is perfect for this kind of space. I feel like this space just lightens up the mood of the occupant
Hermoso! De los mejores que he visto. Me encanta que la fuerza del ojo se va a los colores quedando fuera de campo las lineas de las columnas del techo. ❤
It's a weird & challenging space, no question. Some of the decisions make a lot of sense - adding storage in lowest parts of the main room, moving the bedroom, creating an office spot. But it looks very choppy & uncomfortable, honestly. Nothing to direct the flow; no unifying aesthetics. Lots of missed opportunities .
Agree, I saw a many of never to small videos a this is one of most lovely piece of work. Easy, light, finctional, beautiful, emotional, surprising... love it.
Absolutely stunning! Great use of space. There is an underlying quality to this project that often is missed. The bedroom is a sanctuary. The use of mirrors glass bricks is a key factor. Sometimes ( drenched) colours don't work. Here they do... perfectly. Yes this is an exceptional project and indeed small space Home.
Gorgeous transformation of the space, but i'm not sure about putting the closet all the way at the other end of the apartment right next to the kitchen. It's so far and surely all your clothes will get smelly?
I liked how the floorplan was reconfigured and the amount of space/cabinets offered in the kitchen. I know that the owner really likes his orange chair but from a body mechanics point of view, I am definitely not a fan of the desk/chair set up. Absolutely love the bedroom and the shower. Maybe a lighter colored tile in the main bathroom with the sink and toilet would lighten that area up a bit but I like the ingenuity of it being hidden behind the mirrored panel. I love the outside balcony and overall really like the design. I would probably put something different instead of the chair and the plant, perhaps a unique looking chair to go with the rest of the design and the plant on a plant stand to give the floor a better space.
It feels like a high concept Airbnb. I could live there if it were my weekend get-away. And I rented it out the rest of the time. I bet that's what the owner does.
Windows are such a challenge in attic apartments. Personally, I need generous windows on the vertical walls, not the ceilings, to not feel claustrophobic. So while the skylights add gorgeous light, they don’t meet my need to constantly be seeing the landscape and other buildings around me. The great glass panel in the front door added this, and there is the one window in the dormer, but otherwise I feel boxed in. Except for this issue I loved the space, the use of color, and the smart storage in the knee walls. The green desk-at-an-angle made me smile. Bien hecho.
We all know that sitting desk is more for visualisation, nevertheless the meticulous implementation of colour into shaping the space with more geometric is absolutely undeniable brilliant, colors are utilized very well creating a refreshing ambience
Love the shower that acts as a lantern 😍. The whole design is really nicely done and conceived - but I must say I couldn't live there, just under the roof (which doesn't look insulated?) in Madrid, or at least not in Summer 🥵
Same as my house. But the way I see it - limited comfy chairs = less sitting still in one position = higher mobility and better long-term outlook in terms of health.
Ornage chair- perfect minimlaism solution- work on the sudy sitting on it and dont put expensive commode in the toilet just leave the hole and take the chair to sit on top of the hole and eject ur business.
I loved the use of the space. Great new layout. It seemed sad to lose the warm wooden floor though! Too many mirrors for my liking. The desk and chair is great art but not very useful as workspace. Overall nicely done.
The layout changes, skylights, storage, and bathroom and kitchen are great. I don’t know that I would choose all white finishes. And I would definitely choose different furniture. The built-in desk is too low for the person sitting there, who has to hunch.
Aren't attics going to be insulated to a certain degree, or is that under the actual roof? I'm in an attic apartment and even with 35°C+ outside it's ~25°C or lower inside if it's cool enough at night to properly ventilate. With AC it would probably be quite nice.
Nice use of an awkward space! Post-modern furniture is not my taste, but the colors were really nice and lively feeling. It seemed like a big improvement over the original design.
I love it! ❤ If I could add 2 things it would be making the colour of the triangle at the wall facing the entrance another color. ✨✨👌🏼 The only thing is i wouldn't have put wardrobes next to the cooking area because of the smell into the clothes... The mirrors are brilliantly placed, and the tiles from the shower brilliantly settled.
It seems that he rarely cooks.
I loved the flat. But my favourite part of the video was when the designer said with a flourish, “we installed a big kitchen because the owner loves to cook…” then showed the cupboards and fridge open with only two oranges and some condiments… THAT is the kitchen of a bachelor in central Madrid!
.... and an EMPTY FREEZER...
😂😂😂😂😂
If I lived in a small apartment in a big city, I would also only have a few days of food, because it's what I could carry back from the shop. But the spice rack would be more than 4 items! 😆
It looks like a set about to be dismantled. It doesn’t seem like anyone lives there at all. 😅
How true. It is also not homey. Not lived in. They say he had lived there for a few years before they did it over.
That was a challenging space to begin with. The original dark wooden beams of the slanted walls felt very oppressing - by painting them white and adding skylights it feels much more airy and the additional light enlivens the space. Might be because all seems a bit steril (+a lot of white, that's not broken up 😂)- not really lived in. 🤗
I liked the blue tones, but not much else.
I love how they implemented storage in the low areas...Gonzalo even said if the storage works the house works. Brilliant!
I really liked the final result. Three things I would do differently. I would extend the kitchen furniture until the roof to gain space and void dust accumulation over the top; the sitting area doesn’t look comfortable for long hours of work; equip some of the lower cabinets with drawers for better access.

Thanks for sharing!
this is one of the few exceptions where i liked the before better.
The front door being made of glass is the best design decision!
The tiled roof as a backdrop to the balcony is utterly beautiful.... like a waterfall of terracotta. Excellently designed. I am inspired. Thank you.
I loved the skylights, the changes to the layout for public and private, and that beautiful kitchen 💛
While it’s not my taste, I love this designer’s vision. His choice of materials and lighting are fantastic.
Love how clean, tranquil this is and the use of color is beautiful. The use of white makes the space feels much larger.

Omg the before is much better and way more homely than the after…
Wow, what a transformation of an awkward and dark space. Clever design elements, along with generous amounts of natural light and vibrant colours have created this apartment into a stylish home. Probably one of the best you have featured given the restraints the architects had to work with.
Roberto was having the time of his life showing off that apartment - so much smirking! What a great video (and what a fun flat!)
I can imagine the apartment being really cosy in the cold Madrid winters too...win-win
Many leaks when it rains, terribly hot in the summer, freezing in winter. Those type of attics weren't made to live in, and Madrid has become infamous for housing where it shouldn't.
I really feel this apartment's environment. Just love it. Light idea with round window and glass bricks are brilliant.

Another brilliant Gon architects renovation.
What's the trend with impractical and uncomfortable chairs?
I was thinking the same. 😄
This is an ergonomic chair combined with an ergonomic work desk. LOL
Those Bertioa side chairs are fine when purchased with the seat pads as they have done here. They are classic design, extremely well made, sculptural and transparent in this small space. I agree with the client / architect's choice.

The space is small, but it feels airy and bright. So different from how it was originally!
I bet it's crazy hot most of the year
8:32 Roberto casually taking a shower while the crew is filming 😄
one on the best apartments I think!
Loved this one! Feels like a balance of a very impactful and curated space without the coldness of living in a gallery or museum.
Loved this design! ❤ As an Hispanic originally from Guatemala, South America, it is so marvelous how this design combines the traditional Terraza-Baldosa floors with modern architecture and design. Love it! ❤ Annndddd..... I want that 'Terraza' 😁
Guatemala is in Central America @MotheNewZealand
Normally I hate the white wall effect, but in here it really serves to make the colors pop and feel even more vibrant and impactful. This space looks very elegant!
Beautiful space. It gives off such a private cozy feeling. I would definitely be in that patio everyday.

The designers have put a lot of thought into how it would be lit at night, so it would have been nice to have seen a couple of shots after dark!
I really like this and I normally don’t go for bold colours. Good use of an awkward space.
Loved the use of color and the space was incredibly well thought out. I like the minimalist furnishings but I might have opted for something more cozy for sitting on at the desk. I appreciated all the natural light and the fact that the balcony was an integral part of the living design. I could def see myself living there.

It was transformed in a very unique way. ✨✨
Amazing job! From the beginning till the last words said. One of the best transformations of tiny apartments ever shown here. 👏🏼
They did the best they could with what they had!
very fun colors
Great renovation of this space…the colour makes me so happy
It's a weird & challenging space, no question. Some of the decisions make a lot of sense - adding storage in lowest parts of the main room, moving the bedroom, creating an office spot.

same :)
Agree, I saw a many of never to small videos a this is one of most lovely piece of work. Easy, light, finctional, beautiful, emotional, surprising... love it.
The way it reflects the colorful life and architecture of the city
I feel hurt just looking at those low ceiling columns , my head hurts 😅
I'm a tall person, so I cringed.
I'm obsessed! it that glass wall/shower, oh boy! would love to see how the play of lights and colors in the evening... what a beauty!
It looks unreal, like a dollhouse or something. Kinda cute but also strange
This is so intelligently thought-through (and the end result is also beautiful as well as usable).
Great video ! I love this flat and love the colours ! ❤👍
Absolutely stunning! Great use of space. There is an underlying quality to this project that often is missed. The bedroom is a sanctuary. The use of mirrors glass bricks is a key factor. Always amazed when I see one of these spaces and think that it is the same size as my old studio, which was tiny and dark!
Love love love this, and big fan of Wes Anderson
"everything was in the wrong place" . Describes perfectly many of the places I've lived in😢
I like the layout, but I really liked the dark wood beams!
Gorgeous transformation of the space, but i'm not sure about putting the closet all the way at the other end of the apartment right next to the kitchen. It's so far and surely all your clothes will get smelly?

It's funny I liked the old apartment too. Seems more cosy. The new one looks good, but feels like a student flat. The light is certainly better.
This place is both innovative and creative
I could happily live there. Very happily. It’s so calming. It would definitely enhance my day-to-day living experience.
Windows are such a challenge in attic apartments. Personally, I need generous windows on the vertical walls, not the ceilings, to not feel claustrophobic. We all know that sitting desk is more for visualisation, nevertheless the meticulous implementation of colour into shaping the space with more geometric is absolutely undeniable brilliant, colors are utilized very well creating a refreshing ambience
Amazing transformation!
roberto! allowing the glass tiles🔥 just wish there was a door connecting the loo and shower
Mega cozy apartment, the balcony is the best 🤩
Wait! How is Roberto doing that coffee?
The flat looks great and way bigger that it is. The desk seems to be made to actually avoid working at home 😆
Maybe his coffee was too strong and he wanted to water it down? Never seen anyone do that before 😂😂
Such a relaxing video… the soundtrack and the architect’s voice nearly sent me to sleep ♥️☺️
It is the best flat ,i've seen in never too small.
I can feel the joy in this space
This one has been one of my favourites from this channel
Love the shower that acts as a lantern 😍. The whole design is really nicely done and conceived - but I must say I couldn't live there, just under the roof (which doesn't look insulated?) in Madrid, or at least not in Summer 🥵
One of your best videos
There's like one comfortable chair in that house
😂😂😂 the owner justs comes home to have dinner, and goes to bed.
Same as my house. But the way I see it - limited comfy chairs = less sitting still in one position = higher mobility and better long-term outlook in terms of health.
In the future, people do not sit. He is just ready!!!
Agreed. The older I get, the more important it is to have comfortable chairs. My home = comfort. But if it works for him, go for it.
Ornage chair- perfect minimlaism solution- work on the sudy sitting on it and dont put expensive commode in the toilet just leave the hole and take the chair to sit on top of the hole and eject ur business.
super project! you are the best interior designer!!! the client was very lucky
One of the best design you promoted - wonderful and unique. Bravo.
More like Wes Anderson, I see Kubrick! Love it
I loved the use of the space. Great new layout. It seemed sad to lose the warm wooden floor though! Too many mirrors for my liking. The desk and chair is great art but not very useful as workspace. Overall nicely done.
Beautiful ! Modern, functional and cool.
The layout changes, skylights, storage, and bathroom and kitchen are great. I don’t know that I would choose all white finishes. And I would definitely choose different furniture. The built-in desk is too low for the person sitting there, who has to hunch.
Love the project! I wonder how the owner manages the summer heat being this an attic.
Aren't attics going to be insulated to a certain degree, or is that under the actual roof? I'm in an attic apartment and even with 35°C+ outside it's ~25°C or lower inside if it's cool enough at night to properly ventilate. With AC it would probably be quite nice.
I was wondering about the same thing. There's no info about insolation and I haven't seen any AC system
Woa I love this one! Very smart use of the space, the design is functional and looks great! I loveeee those glass bricks
Nice use of an awkward space! Post-modern furniture is not my taste, but the colors were really nice and lively feeling. It seemed like a big improvement over the original design.
Thoughtful and innovative. Great solutions for more light! Nicely done!
very cool small space
I'm not a fan of chairs in this apartment. But i like the color scheme and the whole interior design in this space.
wish I was this rich and creative
enhorabuena Gonzalo! this place is stunning like the rest of your work!
8:22 love this wall tiles colour pallete.😍
Full of owner's character! Love it~
One of the best yet
I love it! ❤ If I could add 2 things it would be making the colour of the triangle at the wall facing the entrance another color. It would refer to the triangular bureau ánd would make the hallway even more special. Also i would highlight the ceiling above the kitchen to improve the sense of height. Great design!
