It’s much more likely, though, that The Boys is using the name primarily because it’s also the name of a warrior goddess/queen from Irish mythology, and the connection to alcohol is either a thematic bonus or a simple coincidence.
I knew Maeve was a queen of Connacht in Irish mythology but I never knew about the connection with drinking. Cheers! 😉😊

I love that the first episode builds The Deep up as a major villian and then the rest of the episodes, he could best be described as also there.

The Boys gets progressively more over the top with each season better than the last. Season 4 starts June 13th and they were just renewed for season 5 announced yesterday. My favorite show to come along in ages. The absolute best show.

Cinebinge was bored with The Expanse from Day 1 and just dropped it after two seasons. Considering how they both love good sci-fi and Simone being a trekkie, I've never been more disappointed with a reaction channel.
Mary generally comes across as a sweetheart but...let's just say she's not always the most perceptive and tends to view a lot of things with a very modern lense. She often doesn't seem to understand that characters do bad things because they're bad people and the story requires it. I tend to only watch her reactions to comedies now and even then it depends; dark comedy and satire are a no go, screwball and hijinks are ok, lol.
George and Simone are usually great, potentially my favourite, but this one fell a bit flat. (Edit: I'm referring to the the Cinebinge reaction to From Dusk Til Dawn, which I just watched and forgot this is a different thread/channel altogether🤣)
Simone especially seemed to fall into that realm of not understanding the Richie character. Tarantino not wanting to direct so he could focus on the character makes absolute sense because he'd want to bring an authentic believability to it, as you would with any character. She is, or was an actor, she should get that. Both of them seemingly having such a hyper focused knowledge of Quentin's fetish that it breaks immersion for them is annoying, though I suppose that's a "me" problem. I probably benefit from having seen most of these movies before knowing about it myself so those scenes are just part of the movie, nothing more, except maybe funny in hindsight.
If you like "The Boys", you should definitely watch "Doom Patrol".

Pretty much every single character in the series is delightfully despicable in one way or another - except for the two love birds. And, perhaps, the two other love birds - although, Frenchy... Naaah, he's definitely amongst the already broken.

Less than a month ago, there was a terrible accident here in Rio de Janeiro, where a bus smashed a guy that was fixing bikes by the curb. Some people filmed it moments after the bus crushed the poor guy, and his heart was sitting 1 foot away from his body, on the hot asphalt, and in fact, STILL BEATING.
Amazing like we take as fiction some things that we see on TV and movies and as unbeliveable as they seem, they are accurate.
