The Alfa Romeo 4C is a mid-engined sports car with a carbon tub, DCT and Italian heritage. It legitimately looks like a baby Ferrari. With some nice bolt on modifications and a tune, this 4C is pushing 300HP, a healthy increase from stock...especially when you consider how light this car is! With no power steering, a "minimalist" interior and excellent driving dynamics, this thing is so much fun to drive. When new, the 4C carried a pretty high price tag, but now a couple years later you can easily find one for around $45k, making it without a doubt the most exotic car you can buy for this kind of money.

The car is gorgeous I don’t know how ppl can’t appreciate a car that’s different!
With a v4?
@@tyb_justiin219 V4? Atleast do the research before addressing others about vehicle specifications. The engine of the car is an inline 4. Jesus Christ
@@bmx687 are you good it has 4 pistons it’s a v4 just in a line! .but is not life gtr mustang even Kia stinger would be better then this shit car.
@@tyb_justiin219 You realize that a v4 and an inline 4 are classified as different engine because they are different engines right? A simple google search would educate you on v4 and inline 4 engines. Type "v4 engine vs inline 4" into google and let me know what you find.
Inline four is a well balanced high revving engine, but a horizontal 6 has 6, and it's horizontal.
I own one and its an amazing car. Everything you said is true and honestly, its no different with a stock car. Glad to see some youtube reviewers starting to notice it finally.
Still have it?
@@backroadblast6603 yes but I’m actually selling it currently
@@rossgoldman2881 nice. Hope you enjoyed it. What’s replacing it?
i know Im kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good place to stream new tv shows online?
@William Ryder I use flixportal. Just search on google for it :)
Future classic
The 4C is an amazing car built for the driver enthusiast. It was built for simplicity, beauty, lightness and the connection to the road. This will probably be the last of its kind. I applaud Alfa Romeo for giving us such a treat. It will definitely be a future collector and the price will go up. Buy one now while they are still available and at a reasonable price.
I’ve driven this car many times and words cannot express how exhilarating it is to drive
Just rented a 4c on turo! It was amazing. Im looking into purchasing now! Lol it's definitely a baby supercar. The sound and feel are absolutely amazing. People are wowed by it and it pulls like no other. It's so satisfying and addicting to drive. He is right you will smile like you are in a million dollar Ferrari.
It's not an eddiex video until he mentions his height
I have to. Everyone seems to think I'm short lol
You have to see it in person to really appreciate the exotic looks. In videos, the car looks tiny and Miata-like but in person, it’s wide, low, and looks like a Ferrari. I was thinking about getting one but the 2 seater was a deal breaker from my kids. The refused. Great as second fun car.
Whenever I drive with my friends they all say it has an incredible presence on the road.
The 4c is a special car ...unique and nothing comparable with a daily car....the 4c is designed for people love driving and taking on the track
Wow, that car is pretty much my exact twin except I’m catless downpipe for even more drama. A stock 4C has character. A modified 4C like this one and mine is an ensemble of sensations and emotions. Nothing else I’ve driven is anything like the 4C. Everything else is pedestrian by comparison.
Dan Huang in the house!!!! I see you all over the facebook group and online forums. Love your presence in the community!
@@bmx687 Just doing what I can to help navigate the esoteric 4C!
Great video. Neat; I was thinking of getting one. It’s a modern Ferrari Dino.
In Europe already is 70 k euro used of 2015. Step by step also in US you will understand that this car is magic and the value is growing up every month
Eddie, far too many ignorant people don't understand power to weight ratio issue. If a car doesn't have 400++ bhp they think it sucks. They failed at math in school dude.
I agree that many do not understand the power to weight ratio especially if the car under goes on/off camber and track elevation changes. The high horsepower and high weight car will always be problem when dealing the track condition mentioned above and it diminishes the driving feedback. Light cars will always bombard the driver with senses.
@@curvetrcalinga You are correct Sherman. Alfa Romeo founded their racing heritage on lightweight, fast, capable cars. Horsepower was never really that big of a deal for Alfa Romeo.
Never can understand why this car doesn’t get more credit. This car is so so unique. It is definitely different and it is a true sports car not just a car called a sports car.... A TRUE SPORTS CAR!!! It kinda makes me wonder if people really understand what a sports car is. Great review 👍
This is pretty much my wet dream of what a Toyota MR-S COULD be, with the right amount of money invested into every square inch of the vehicle. Sick.
You get it, this is a high capability gorgeous tool meant for driving the wheels off. Sure it is flawed. And takes real skill to drive fast. A throwback car for drivers only. They have turned out to be very reliable. DCT is awesome for this car, things happen very, very quickly.
Thank God I had snatched brand new one
These are special because it resembles what we want to spend our money with
Driving, looks, fun, etc. I don't want to pay 50% for things I'll never use or get benefit from.
It's an easy choice. Only if car makers would give buyers the chance to remove all the crap, 4c would have a competitor (not counting the Exige because it's not as daily as this one and only good in UK)
I compared an Exige to the 4C and bought the Lotus recently. The manual transmission really sets it apart and is more engaging by far.
I had the exact opposite experience. I loved my 06' Elise but the shifter mechanism and linkage makes it feel cheap and sloppy. Common complaint on the forums. I didn't notice it much at first but you become aware of it the more you drive, especially if you've driven some nicer shifting setups like the Tremec GT350 or Civic Type R. Having had both, I'd take the dual clutch in the 4C over the manual that comes in the Lotus. The Lotus has the better steering between the two but the 4C has a more special "exotic" feeling when driving and has much better exterior looks. Good luck with your Exige, it's also a great car and very reliable. I've driven them on track many times along with my Elise. It's good to have choices.
MattG good luck with your 4C. Good to have choices for sure, and there are many flavors to choose from. I’ve driven quite a few Elise and Exige and it amazes me how different one can feel from another. The gear box in my Exige is tight and crisp. I find it to have a very good transmission without any sloppiness in shift action. Not as robust as my GT3 RS’s but very appropriate, and along with the lighter clutch feel, the overall interactions align with the character of the car. I just can’t get into the 4C in terms of driving dynamics and much prefer the looks of my Exige in Krypton Green. To each his own.
It is an awesome car. I love mine. I will never sell it
Well you won’t be buying a new one of these since they are no longer produced, the coupe and the spider are gone as of 2020. And you were never going to get a new one for 45 grand, A well-equipped version was 75 to 80+. The used ones are going up in price every day, I have a 2019 custom ordered that won’t be going anywhere for a long time.
Everytime when I watch a 4c review , there is always a lot of viewings and comments but is a shame that not many people can afford to buy it and they have already stop making it !!
2021 is the last year
Love this car. I think Alfa missed an opportunity without a gated shifter and a bit of steering assist, maybe hydraulic. Would have sold a few more cars.
That car looks awesome! Looked like a blast to drive too! Really enjoyed your review!
Eddie, three things you should know. The seats can be lowered and/or leaned backwards to help taller drivers. A pain to do but it is an option. Secondly, since you "get" the 4C and understands its only purpose in life is to give driving joy. As you can understand, posers don't "get" this car and thirdly a manual transmission would only make sense if the car had power steering and a free revving naturally aspirated engine. the engine in the 4C is a torquey, highly boosted turbo engine that needs to keep boost up and the only way to do that is super quick shifts.
I bought an abarth 124, and it get me to the spider club. This car has the right engine position. my abarth looks like a old nissan 240z, long hood /lightbulb went inside the frame. This one is very lotus EXIGE vs 4C / mx-5 vs 124
Thank you Eddie! Enjoyed this review, bought one last week myself.
I daily drive one Exceptional raw and awesome.
Eddie, I’m 6’3” as well and it’s worth mentioning that with a helmet on the top rests against the headliner. You can still track it, but you can’t rotate your neck without shifting your body!
Is I think that's dependent on torso to legs ratio. I have pretty long legs and a normal torso so it's not as bad!
EddieX Ah, yes that makes sense. Something for potential 4C owners to consider. Even a shorter person may need a different helmet setup.
Only thing I don’t like about the aftermarket exhaust is the farting sound when you shift gears or let off the gas. It sounds weird and obnoxious.
That’s the beautiful DSG fart! My Golf R has it too :)
That is what I like the most :)) DSG Farts, Pops n Bangs.
That's farting sound not because of the aftermarket exhaust but that's the main property of any DC Transmission
saw a black one in Costa mesa last weekend it looked clean...
on a flatbead
This truly is a beautiful sports car. The only thing Alfa did wrong with this was the price. If they sold it new for $40k they would have sold more of them. People like them and they are silly fast.
Great review. Lets all hope Alfa Romeo survives the Covid crap and continues to make cool, very cool cars and SUV's.
No way they would've been able to sell them for 40k. Production costs
THE TURBOSS
Would be nice if you could get a traditional manual though!
Yep...
Can't wait to make this my weekend car!!
Hell, my 1984 Rabbit GTI only weighed 1800lbs, and it had carbon fiber NOTHIN'.
Car sounds phenomenal for a 4 banger. I just looked around though and can't find one for a non-marked up price. :(
I got an 18' with 8500 miles I'd consider selling for $45k

This car will keep its value. It's rare and will get rarer. Car makers don't do these kinds of cars anymore. I feel like being a small engine and not having that much electronics to break will allow you to save a lot on maintenance.
I'm thinking about getting one but with the pandemic ill wait.
They have been surprisingly reliable, especially compared to the rest of the Alfa lineup. But I just picked up a gt350 so I don't really need 2 Sunday drivers
What a beaut. Scotty Kilmer has me on Fiat Chrysler hate mode, but how can you hate this.
Scotty doesn't like any car that isn't Japanese and that costs over $2000. He is the world's cheapest bastard, a millionaire who has never spent a dime. He's a pathetic bastard.
23Piccolina agreed with most of what you said. Except the pathetic bastard part. Would love to drink a beer with the legend.
@@23Piccolina ikr, and he would never buy a nice exotic car because of reliability, like he is a millionaire he can pay for maintenance costs, and he recommended a mustang as a first car which is very deadly, he tells people to stay away from Mercedes Benz and BMW which are very safe cars
@@carguyns4348 He has $10 bills folded so long in his pocket, Hamilton has ingrown whiskers! ha ha The man is cheaper than cheap! Its reflected in his car reviews. He hates every new car there is, particularly European cars. He has no taste. A $2000 Lexus and a $300 Corolla is what he is about. Shameful of a millionaire to behave like that and even more shameful he has such a popular channel on RUclips! People must be very poor if they subscribe to his wisdom and advice.
@@23Piccolina why is he still hating on some European cars?, Mercedes and Audi and BMW have improved over the years, Mercedes and Audi and BMW are VERY SAFE also, He is so crazy if he cares about reliability only, reliability is not important like a car that saves your life

Love the 4c. looks like a lot of fun, but my friend no matter how you look at it it is no Ferarri.
Curb weight is 2000 lbs in EU and 2300 lbs in US spec.
What could possibly only be in the US spec that weighs an extra 300 lbs?

Great review👍
It is not an Italian Mazda Miata.. jeez. The Miata is seriously an eco sports roadster. The Alfa Romeo is an actual exotic car handmade by a heritage manufacturer with honest race pedigree and all. The C8 is mid engined but its still a Chevy. Its a fast Chevy but its not equal to a Ferrai just because its fast and mid-engined. The C8 shows its Chevy-ness when you see it in person. Example the leather on cameral looks awesome and soft etc.. yet in person you find its not full leather like a Ferrari, more like a well appointed Chevy sedan.. Dash board and all still (not cheap but) Chevrolet for sure.... Alfisti.mn.co
Starting Price $67,150 (4C Spider)
it is a nice car but i mean for the price and specs it doesn’t really add up. you could buy a used audi ttrs for around $50k, get awd, a manual, and a 3.6 second 0 to 60
Is this a good first “exotic”
Love it 😍
On the 4C only a roots supercharger is missing
Was at an Alfa dealer yesterday and it is gorgeous. Told the dealer it needed the Giulia 2 liter and a manual transmission for it to be perfect.
Sorry - I daily drive my 2016 4c Coupe and it has 44k miles with absolutely no issues. My problem with your comment is the engine AND the transmission are perfect. I love manual and always will, but this car would not be nearly as fun with a manual. This transmission fits the car and you are talking to a guy that only bought manuals. Drive it and you’ll see.
It only comes in automatic with paddle shifters.
2 examples on eBay $65-70k
How come my ND mx5 is lighter and it doesn't have a carbon fiber tub? If they did weight savings correct if should have been lighter than the newer mx5
The 4c is 100kg lighter.

Fun car
I dig it!!!!!!
Nice vídeo...
Where is the "ownership perspective video"?
Being posted tomorrow, Monday at 2pm CST!
I noticed the check engine light is flashing on the dash,I do not recommend any HP mods to this car for this reason, you really don’t need more horsepower and it’s nice to be able to get a state inspection sticker every year without major headaches... leave it stock, you will save a lot of aggravation!!!
the car was in accessory mode with the engine not running.
Spider headlights look well better
我买了台Giulia TI 现在太馋4C了 哈哈. 但是中国这个车好贵啊 😥😥😥😥😥
3 years later and you cannot find one for 45k at all
It does sound better than a Civic with fart cans!
Well, it looks nothing like a Ferrari, but keep going with your review...
How do you know it's a true alfa? Check transmission light must be on
You sound... Well you know. Stupid.

237 hp? Its 250
Uh no. It's rated at 237bhp
It looks more like a Mini Cooper than a baby Ferrari lol

Sounds better than your cheap ass Suburu's
Are you sure its not made by fisher price???
Great looking car but Alfa really missed the price on this one a dam Toyota Camry has more hp than this thing for much less you just trade off the looks lol
The carbon fiber tub, hand made in Modena costs as much as the whole Camry. You dont understand weight savings and associated value in accelerating, braking, and cornering.
Definitely not worth a price

A baby Ferrari????

A huge waste of money
That’s what they said about the Ferrari Dino when it first came out.....
Would much rather chose a stock Porsche Boxster S over this piece of junk.
Yea ok Get that hairdressers car! LoL,. I had 2 different model Boxster S and there is no comparison. LOL. Funny how people make stupid comments and in the end they are driving moms Suburu.
Alphaboy1 I drive my moms Honda Accord but okay.
Nice... better reliability. And honestly the Boxster 987s and 981s where great cars. But different. This is more visceral which is something different but you need to understand this car is not a daily like the Cayman or Boxster was. It has a specific purpose.
