  • I almost missed the boat on the 4C. Almost. Luckily I drove one just as the coupe was ceasing production for the states. I was blown away with how much BETTER the car was than what I expected. Amazing package these 4Cs. I highly recommend you watching this and other videos on this vehicle and by all means DRIVE one. The coupe IS special. The driving experience is as involving as any car currently on offer and under 100mph it punches well above it's weight. Thanks for watching and please CLICK subscribe!

    Had a ‘15 4C, long story, but I ended up buying a 2020 911. I just traded the 911 on a new untitled 2019 Spider. Back in the saddle and love the purity of this criminally under-appreciated car.

      Shawnski’s Garage, as a racer, I would have to agree. I’ve had three 911 road cars, 1x964 back in the day, 2x997 - all high mileage. Loved ‘em, but the 4C is much more, well, ‘special’. It’s hardcore 🥰

    I have LE #183 and its been an amazing car. No problems or issues at all. I am a former Elise SC owner and hands down the 4C takes the experience to the next level. Once the last of the 4C's are sold on the dealer's lots the values will start to climb. There are simply not enough cars available and this will become more apparent as demand increases in the used market. Take advantage while you can! *EDIT* forgot to mention there are two ways to fully see the digital display...first you can unbolt the seat and put it back at an angle with the front bolt in the top hole and the rear bolt in the bottom hole, which will also give taller people more headroom and gives a more comfortable seat back angle. If that's still not enough, go to the 4C forums and there is a thread that shows you how to easily shim the steering wheel adjustment with a few washers so that it will raise higher up and problem solved! Great video and hope this helps!

    I love my Rosso Competizione 4C coupe!
    I wasn't thrilled with the interior so I had the center console wrapped in leather with red stitching to match the rest of my car and it totally changed the plastic look of the interior. It looks 100% factory oem. I also had the A-Pillars wrapped in leather and upgraded the cheap plastic A/C controls to aluminum knobs.

    Bang on review Tim. I live in Australia and I’ve just traded my 08 Maserati GRANTURISMO for LE#53 (of 88). Just 4,000klms on the clock. I figured it’s a win win all round.....beautiful to look at, beautiful to drive, beautiful to listen to and I have no doubt it will start appreciating in the not too distant future as Alfa have announced they are no longer making it. The 4C is rare and the LE rarer still. Has all the hallmarks of a future classic. Ps also just ordered the F1 racing team jacket you’re wearing.

I have been driving it the past few days and just gave it a bath a few hours ago. What a car! It is so beautiful, almost timeless. A classic for sure! Awesome review! Photographs cannot do this car justice, it always looks so much better in the flesh (sorry composite). This just proves, why you dont need a V16 engine with a gazillion horse power to enjoy a dynamic car. This is Alfa employing Colin Chapman's philosophy of 'just add lightness'. This is why I have started using an image of this car at the start of my youtube videos.

    The 4C looks incredible inside and out. Love the Dallara carbon tub. Unfortunately the driving experience left me wanting more. The Cayman is just a lot more fun to drive. It will still be a future classic regardless. Absolutely love the looks.

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  4 года назад +1

      Thanks so much for your comment! For whatever reason I never bonded with the Cayman. I did really enjoy the Cayman R and GT4 but I feel like Porsche intentionally holds back greatness on that platform. The Boxster is weirdly more enjoyable to me probably because the chassis is a bit less composed due to lower rigidity. I think what I just said is the Cayman is too good lol. It needs more power because the chassis is absolutely one of the best made when it comes to mechanical grip. Hmm. Maybe I can fit a Cayman in the garage after all 🤔 cheers and thanks so much for watching!

    February, 2023 (2+ years after this video was made) I have a 2020 4C spider.... not an LE, but well-equipped with the factory Akropovic exhaust, premium sound, and factory backup camera. I'm slowly adding factory carbon pieces, bit by bit. Not a day goes by that I don't just "stare" at it, and marvel at how beautiful this car is.
    You hit the nail on the head when you said "You're going to regret not owning one of these while they are still attainable".
    Since being discontinued in 2020.... well preserved, reasonable-mileage examples are already selling for MORE than they cost new. Collectors are scooping them up QUICK. Why? Because they know.
    In total, they made 9100 cars, worldwide.
    Rewind to the mid 2000s - A Lotus Exige. New around $70k. Now?? If you can even FIND a clean one, that hasn't been wrecked, or has a salvage title, or hasn't been completely converted into a full-blown racecar?? You're looking at nearly TRIPLE their original cost.
    ..... and they made 11,000 Exiges..... which shared the same platform as 36,000 Elises. 47,000 platforms total...
    In 2020... Lamborghini announced it's 20,000th Huracan.
    Again.... only 9100 Alfa Romeo 4Cs were ever made (including both coupes and Spiders).
    I would GENUINELY not be surprised..... if clean examples of the 4C exceed $250,000 in the next 10 years. Call me crazy.... but I believe it.

I am one of those guys who must work very hard for the money and have the time for a drive in the countryside far more frequently. I believe this is an “any speed” car and will scratch the itch. I have previously owned a 996 C4S and a 997S, both awesome cars and I love the feeling and looks of a 911. Porsche makes a great car, in fact my daily is a 15' Panamera GTS. The 4C by comparison to the 997S is much more raw and direct, as you probably noticed. The feeling of speed as the payment rushes by just in front of your windshield is unlike any other car on the road, exceptions to the Elise/Exige and Ariel Atom. However, keep in mind the 997S is a much easier car to live with on a daily basis. Good luck, hope you find your LE! I have LE #183 and its been awesome!

    One of my favorite 4c reviews. Finally someone that speaks in proper automotive terms. I have to throw in a bit of an argument to it though. The build quality in terms of engineering aspect is very poor. Once you get under the skin of this thing you see things and you would lhink a 16 year old designed it. I know because I did a full restoration on mine. Amazing car but if you are a gearhead that likes to turn wrenches, you better have patience and self discipline (and a DD to run to Alfa dealer as it will become your daily errand).

    4C is beautiful...I have a 2017 mazda miata. I am looking into upgrading it. But not 100% sure if it is going to be worth it. As the basis for a Miata is also being a lightweight and a nimble car. It does not have great power but nor does the 4c. Miata to me feels like a better everyday driver vs 4C being hardcore.

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  3 года назад

      I drove the Abarth 124 Spider and latest Miata. They aren’t comparable to the 4C in terms of feel. I recently did the EC phase 2 tune and intake and dropped nearly a second off my 0-60 time with the app I use to track performance in cars I drive for magazines. In terms of seat of things like breaking, cornering speed/ g force etc the car feels a couple notches above the pace of either of those other cars. That being said, I probably wouldn’t daily drive something as uncompromising as a 4C. Getting groceries and running errands makes much more sense in a Miata. In the 4C the luggage area gets quite warm so That is a serious demerit. The Miata I drove “seemed” much less fun than the 124 and that was likely down to the Fiat’s turbo power delivery. In terms of upgrades I know there is loads available. The stock suspension is much less aggressive than the 4C, perhaps that could be a good start. Cheers and thanks so much for watching

    The reason I chose the 4C over its competitors from Lotus, Porsche, Alpine, etc., is it's got one of the 10 most beautiful looks of all time, unlike the others the aura of which would wear off as new models come out.
    However, the location of the TFT panel looking through the steering wheel....it's only good for people who grow their arms up from the ears. Never get the right view regardless of the seat position.

    • @Matt77346

      There is a simple mod that uses a few washers to raise the steering wheel tilt. It's on the 4C forums, go check it out if you're interested in adjusting it to solve your problem. And the seat mod works as well for most people, but it requires removal of the seat...not just adjusting the seat back position lever. Front hole set at the top and rear set at the lowest hole. This is a car that I am seriously thinking about having in my collection, I usually have much older cars, save for my Mini GP1 and GP2, and I have never owned an Alfa Romeo, however, my insticts are, that I should get one, although the spider seems to have more appeal, which goes against your advice Tim.
    I have watched some reviews where they lean towards the soft top being the better car, but surely that would lose some of the ridigity that the coupe provides?

    • @TimsEnthusiastGarage
      @TimsEnthusiastGarage  4 года назад +2

      First off, thanks so much for watching. I would be honored if you would hit the subscribe button. Secondly and perhaps interestingly the Spider has nearly the same rigidity. With cars like the 996/997 that number is half the coupe value and so it makes it much less desirable and in many ways a totally different proposition. In this case it’s within 5% of the coupe because they use the same carbon tub. In terms of collectibility I don’t think it’s anywhere near as collectible as the Coupe. Coupe represents 30 -35% of the total cars brought to the states . Visually the rising glass cover , slightly more exotic profile and timelessness of the overall roof line / design is more evocative IMHO. Then there is the drive. Well, all things being equal, having the top off WILL afford you less buffeting than windows down in the coupe. That is one potential plus, you are even closer to the noises which is also a plus. Spiders will continue the price slide to a lower point which could be a pro/con depending on perspective. based on the degree of that slide I may very well add a white/red leather spider to the mix in the next few years. At the end of the day however, I will never love it the way I love the coupe because it looks so much less special.
      Having owned both the Elise and Exige I can indeed confirm both are rousing drives. However, that coupe profile wins the day every time. I hope this helps! Lmk if you have any other questions. Cheers!

      I have a Coupe. The basic structure is the same, because of the carbon tub. Like the Spider, the Coupe lacks any conventional roof structure. Both use a tub-bolted aluminium roll bar behind the seats for roll protection. As you could probably infer, the structural rigidity and driving feel is practically the same between the two body styles. You can choose what you want simply based on open-air and aesthetic preference.

    I think the technical aspects of this car make it awesome, with the carbon fiber tub and the potential to upgrade the stock car is excellent at the price. The problem I have with your review is your praise of the ascetic design.
    This car's looks are horrendous! The front end is far too round, both headlight variants are absolute trash looking and the front grille triangle is too small and the other two vents in the front grille are oddly shaped. The ridges across the hood are too pronounced and contrast the rest of the design language too much and make it look disjointed. Lastly, the side pods are horribly shaped and should be rounder to match the curves of the car at least. The only saving grace of the car's look is the solid rear end, which isn't perfect either.
    All that said, I'm still probably going to pick one up soon as the features of it are quite cool and its unique. But to say the design is timeless... no. The 33 Stradale was timeless, the 8C is pretty timeless, the 4C looks like hot garbage, and its a damn shame too.
