Own a 2015 Launch Edition 4C that I bought new. Still love it. Have had other ALFAs and other sports cars plus lots of other brands from US, Germany, Japan, England. The 4C is really special. With a couple of simple mods it is an amazing car. Better tires, get a good alignment, set toe to 0 in front. Not in its element on long straights or boring highways....get it in the twisties on a mountain road, or tight road course or autocross. They have proven to be very reliable and bullet proof on the track with above mods and track focused brake pads. Had a 1970 ALFA spider I bought new and kept for over 40 years. ALFAs are keepers. IF you want one better get it now....prices used are going up now that they are at the end of the run of the model. Just a last run of special edition 2020s (22 in US and few in Canada) and that is it. And no ...mine is not for sale!
Nice description of the Alfa Romeo 4C - Spider but you forgot one thing, namely the Race stand in the D.N.A. switch, which can be activated by the D.N.A. switch to Dynamic mode and then hold it for 5 seconds so that the car automatically enters the Race mode setting.

Not that it matters much, but there are pockets built into the back of the seats for a tiny bit of extra storage. There is an upgraded audio package which adds a small sub between the seats, which then deletes that small storage box. Someone mentioned race mode below, which was not covered, but you aren't going to be using that on the street much. One other note, IMO these are incredibly tunable.
Good review especially regarding the interior since this car was sold with a carbon fibre chassis at a price point and obviously some savings had to be made elsewhere
Stop!!! Don't tell anyone about this! :-) I definitely have this on my list, as well as the Fiat 124 Abarth (manual). All those things you describe, REAL engine sounds, manual steering, etc. are rare even today. Imagine 10 years from now when you can't even buy a gas engine car what an experience like this will be worth. I may by both the 4C and the 124....
A 19” Spider in my garage custom ordered in Basalt Grey. These cars were probably a little pricey for the ones that loved them and were not daily drivers (for most) making them an expensive second car. And by the way I forget that my car has no power steering...

Thanks for the review. At least this is a true 2 seater, unlike Tesla's Roadster. Looks good, but I think I am done buying gas cars. Waiting for an electric that looks kinda like this one. If I had more money though...
No power steering, twitchy labour intensive steering, lack of basic space, lack of any technology, lack of interior design, lack of seat adjustment (feels like your sitting on a fixed bench at 90 deg) are what people didn’t like about it. If they gave it more Porsche like comfortable features it could have done better. And even a V6. But always easy to say so in retrospect. It will be unique and rare nevertheless and run circles around any similar spec Porsche
Cool fact, if you need a more practical 4c, get a 500 Abarth because its the same engine basically, except 1.4l and 160hp solenoid intake/SOHC exhaust 16valve
While having my Giulia 4C serviced, the only thing I remembered about the 4C was getting a Charlie horse getting out of it.... and the seats being really uncomfy. 😒
Dude, you completely lost me at the point you started talking about the intercooler being upfront. It would have taken some very basic research and review video to find of the intercooler is on the rear left vent behind the door ;)
It's a nice italian sports car. With that being said. You could buy an American car that's just as nice or even nicer with double the power and less than 40k
It's a sweet looking car but it doesn't make sense for the price it's at. True that it's a driver's car, but at that price point, it's missing a lot of tech and luxurious that its competitors such as the BMW Z offers. I'm a fan of the car, but like many of you who are just admiring this car, I probably wont want to own one either. People either go for an MX5 or a Z4, or go up to a Lotus if they want this kind of experience.
@@alphaboy1872 Me three, soooo much fun to drive. It is a drivers car if you dont like active driving that is concentrating and being present behind the wheel, its not for you. If you do its superlative.
Why get a copy when you can get the original, The Lotus Elise. As for maintenance and reliability you can get your engine and drive train parts at any Toyota dealer.
The 4C has many strikes against it...first off, the styling can be polarizing, either one loves it or finds it "too busy". While many were willing to forgive the past with horrifically rusting bodies & reliability issues...a sparse American infrastructure made them worse than Ferraris for maintenance... secondly, the utter failure to have a manual gearbox pushed away scores of possible owners, the lack of a V6 then seemed secondary. Owners were more than willing to oversee the spartan core nature of the concept, but the automatic transmission sealed its fate from the very start.
Yeah, and why does this all-carbon car weigh more than a steel Miata, seeing as both are two-seaters powered by four-bangers? Which car gives you an actual trunk, a manual shifter, power steering, a one-handed true convertible top, legendary reliability, a fantastic driving experience, and nearly 40 mpg? The one that is still in production and selling a thousand units each month in the USA: the MX-5.
@@johntechwriter I agree. I own and love my ND MX-5. It was an easy decision as it was 6 times cheaper than the 4C. If it had been half of the 4C, then there would have been a discussion.
Great reveiw other than two things. What is your American obsession with cup holders? We lived for a hundred years without them and the supersize mcDonalds obese Soda thing! But worst the sound of the handbrake- press the button on the front you spanner!! Geeze
It is stupid to ask from a car like that what the manufacturer did not provide you with and it"s not in its scope. 4C is a sports car that need to be as light as it can be. Many times, the americans do not understand the european soul.
This very pretty car failed because it is a mid-level sports car packaged as a mid-engined exotic. Its highly stressed turbo four does not deliver exotic-level performance. The carbon body and monocoque mean a fender-bender will write off this car! Try to get it insured! That clumsy targa top even when off leaves too much high-mounted hardware surrounding the driver. And the two final nails in the coffin: a too-high price for a car with Alfa's spotty reliability record, and no available manual transmission. Only a hard-core sports car fan (like me!) would put up with this car's compromises, and that driver MUST HAVE a manual transmission. Frankly, I am angry at Alfa for putting so much money and effort into this misbegotten project and totally blowing it -- thus depriving us North American enthusiasts of an Alfa two-seater we can live with.
This is an entry level super car (a level below an Audi R8 V8). If this car had an Corvette LS3 engine swap with a twin turbo doing 600 hp, and a modified ECU, I can easily see this car going 0-60 in under 4 seconds. A custom wing, blacked out rims, and a dark matte grey paint job.
The truth is this car is a torture device when trying to get in and out and that is what killed it. Period. There is simply no excuse for making a car today a complete pain in the ass to use.
i think the aggressive double clutch shifts suit the supercar vibe. also you need both hands on the wheel quite often so it's a blessing having the paddles right there ngl😅
@@AriesUmbraThe sales numbers show the truth and that IS the point. It has too many flaws that kills its sales. I wanted to buy it and the moment I sat inside for a test drive, I knew it was over. No way am I going to torture myself getting in and out when I can get a comfy 911. It is also a car that is flipped quickly after it's bought because nobody wants to put up with it. Those are the facts and the sales numbers quantify them. As for Lotus or Ferrari, I never had any problems getting in and out of those cars.
Beautiful car, great car. Terrible name, just terrible. The Chinese people won't buy it because of the 4, meaning death, and on a sports car not great. The biggest thing is that Alfa needs to make a more reliable car. Today you can't get away with unreliable cars if a car is not good as a used car, it depreciates and people won't buy them new.
Holy hell. The same Fiat parts bin TRASH electric window switches that the 159, Giulietta and Brera had to suffer with. Ruins the wholeee interior in my opinion. Even my 156 SW, the switches are nasty in their action but they don't look completely horrible like the ones you see here. Yeah I'm into aesthetics a bit.
This is simply stupid! This guy doesn't know anything about this car. He explains what he sees, like we cannot see it withy our own eyes. This is not a review, it's a joke! Watch a review made by europeans and you will understand what a review means, mainly to an Alfa Romeo.
The reviewer is a lightweight, I agree, but bear in mind the Europeans did not buy this car, either. Like so many Alfas it started out with the best of intentions but was doomed by lame-brained product planning (an exotic carbon monocoque and body that can't withstand a fender-bender, no steering assist, no manual transmission, terrible ergonomics, that idiotic targa top, I could go on).
What do you think of the Alfa Romeo 4C?
Awesome, im sure you're going to love it. I can only imagine what it sounds like with a modified exhaust

You do realize the stock 0-60 has been recorded at 4.1, right? Under 4 seconds is achievable in stock form with just an ECU tune :)
Im not looking for a luxury car 🏎😈💥
The truth is this car is a torture device when trying to get in and out and that is what killed it. Period. There is simply no excuse for making a car today a complete pain in the ass to use.
Btw you wasted 75% of the video time not driving it
Prettiest car ever made
It would have been perfect with a manual trans.
i think the aggressive double clutch shifts suit the supercar vibe. also you need both hands on the wheel quite often so it's a blessing having the paddles right there ngl😅
@@AriesUmbra indeed :) I can't imagine driving mine at high-ish speeds and having to take one hand off the steering wheel :D
Nope. It has too many limitations. Hard to get in and out. Hood does not open. No storage. Crappy radio. Forget about it.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 missing the point, none of those are considered a problem if it's a lotus or a v8 ferrari.
Not doing well
Most impopular = ingnorance
It’s not a super car
But itis s super car😂
😂
Nobody will care about it
haha yeah of course🤡 let me tell you something: no one cares about you and your unprofessional opinion
a bad car tbh
