    This might sound odd , but an app that is willing to offer so much for free is worth my support. I ended up buying the 3 year plan. Nothing worse than getting an app only to find that the majority of the features are pro only. I applaud “all trails” for keeping all people and budgets in mind.

      We completely agree!! This is definitely something that is created for the people and not to make money. That's one of the reasons we love it so much! We applaud them too!

    Just started hiking in powel river BC (gateway to Alaska). throwing a compostible paper, drawing arrows in the dirt….one turn away from getting lost…..is how i operated. 5 hikes per week, in bear, cougar, wolf dense areas.
    Then in limbo btwn Gaia vs All Trails vs All Trails Pro with minimal patience for videos that DONTGETTOTHE Point.
    Yours was refreshing. targeted. comprehensive in domains selected with an excellent summary that made my choice crystal clear. to others reading this…..”No i dont know the video maker and im not paid”. this is a straight up 👍. Subscribed!!🙃🙃

    Woah. How can it show you location in real time on map while offline? I figured internet was required for that. That is really cool and makes it more than worth it.

    • @JourneyMore

      I believe the app works through a satelitte GPS as well rather than just internet/cell service and that's why it works! It really does make it more than worth it! Thanks for watching Dalton and commenting Dalton!

    Great set of videos on Alltrails you guys! I totally love this app ... especially for research and planning purposes. One thing you did not mention ... that I find most useful ... is the ability to make my own maps and then download them to my handheld. This is especially valuable if you want to modify the route Alltrails presents you ... or better yet add on to it. You can even have a multiple of trails in a specific geographic area. Hopefully you use this ... if not it is always fun to teach the teacher. That said ... I think Alltrails is totally worth to $15 to $30 you spend on it a year. It is my most useful app!!! Happy trails to ya!!!

      Thanks so much for watching! And thank you for the tip and thoughts! We will most likely make another video outlining the things that we have missed through these 2 videos because we know they aren't perfect. We definitely believe it is worth it too as long as you use it! Haha! Thanks again though!

    Hello. I was on my last day of the trial period last night, found your video because I was trying to find the best app to buy for an extended period, like 50 years or so lol. You convinced me to get it and I'm happy I did. Used the lifeline to send messages to the lady at home so she won't worry anymore. I turned my phone to airplane mode after starting the trip and it was a absolute breeze at the trail. Was hiking at Palos Verdes so had plenty of signal but wanted to test it out in a safe place. Hiked for about 90 minutes, used only 10 percent of phone. Those two points are well worth the price. I want to get the 3 year version now so I can save a year. Thanks for your help!!!

    One thing I having been able to figure out that I'd like to see - I have a gpx file from a trail race I am going to run that strings together several trails. I want to download into Alltrails but cant figure out how to do it, or if it is even possible at all. The FAQ on the Alltrails site was not helpful on this question.

    • @JourneyMore
      @JourneyMore  3 года назад

      Thank you for watching! I have researched through the app I don't believe there is a way to download a full state map! It is only trail by trail. If I find anything different I will be sure to let you know!

    Does the Pro App allow hikers to tract location of their friends nearby

    • @JourneyMore
      @JourneyMore  3 года назад

      At least from our experience and research we do not believe so. It does give you the lifeline option which will alert you when the friend reaches their destination or if they don't reach it by the time they specify. But we don't believe it will allow you to see where friends are on the trail map. We hope that was helpful!

      @@JourneyMore im planning a 3 day trip in the middle of Idaho, with a very rough trail so it'll make me feel much safer with the offline GPS. Does it work pretty well? I was testing it earlier in my house with airplane mode on, and it followed me as I turned. Pretty cool.

    • @JourneyMore
      @JourneyMore  3 года назад

      Nice that sounds like a lot of fun! It does work very well! We have used it numerous times on hikes ranging from 3-15 miles. I would recommend opening the app to the map before you start and leave it open. Do not close out the app! The reason is if you don't have service and try to open the app most of the time it won't load the trails and maps. So just open it while you have service and keep it open!

    • @darionbuck8864
      @darionbuck8864 3 года назад +1

      @@JourneyMore even with the pro version you can't close out?

    • @JourneyMore
      @JourneyMore  3 года назад +1

      I am not 100% sure so if you find anything different let me know! With the pro version you can download maps. When doing that you need the app open. But if you are using the map within the app the issue would be your phones ability to pick up service/satellite. Sometimes in remote areas it can't pick it up well and will have trouble opening the app and pulling up the maps. So just in case, we recommend opening the app, pulling up the map and leaving it open while you have good service! I hope that helps!

    I wasted 7:40 minutes waiting for him to skip past any route planning/exporting capabilities in the pro??
    So far this app seems to be for soccer moms and unadventurous sheep who wont plot their own trail and not for "avid" outdoor anyone...?
