FYI in case anyone sees this and has an auto but wants more beef and torque while keeping creature comforts, get a 7AT from a Q50/60, the transmission and swap job can be done well below $2000 while eliminating a weak link. It's quite easy if you are mechanically inclined. I did this swap for the VR30 trans for a supercharged drag/line auto Z build.
Howdy. Like what you said about getting a friend to drive the manual home and learning your gears there. I did this with my first Harley. Had a friend drive it home and I tried to practice in the back yard. Start, roll, stall rinse and repeat a few dozen times. It wasn't until a lady biker friend got me out of the yard with a small group and on the road that I mastered the gears and the confidence needed. When I got my 04 Roadster, (6 speed manual), my head was spinning with mods and upgrades, but the salesman said "just drive it". Enjoy it as is. And I did. I was awkward at first, especially with reverse, but now its is a joy to drive. Even in traffic. Big smiles. To all Z owners out there, enjoy yours!! Keep it up, Danny. Best wishes.
Yea when i got my first manual 04 350z, people was like turbo it, super charge. Im like nah daily driver mods and just drive it. Too many dumb automatic drivers. Make the car last
if I ever buy another Nissan sports car it's going to be automatic because Nissan and their clutch system in the manual sucks. its like waiting for the clutch to drop to the floor each day.
a lot of people are complaining about having Manuel in traffic but there is a maneuver called clutchless maneuver and if mastered right you will never have to use the clutch only in first gear. but watch out cuz you could grind the gears have not done right with the RPMs
I have an auto 370z and I love it. I love driving a manual the drive is so much more fun, you do feel more connected to the drive. In saying that any 370z manual or auto your drive is fun
Drove 280z 280z 2+2 300zx 350z 370z all stick. I cant even think of owning an automatic. Sticks are just more fun and sporty. Yet it really depends on the drivers perspective. Personally i like being able to shift to any speed i want without it being automaticlly controlled.
I'd stop short from saying that owning a slush box with this size of motor is "boring". I agree that it's less engaging than a manual, but having come from a decade of owning several Miatas with both five and six speed gearboxes, I feel that the automatics in late model cars are equal in performance and quality. My 370Z roadster has an auto, which makes it a great daily driver living in an urban area. I admit that I do sometimes miss that feeling you have driving a stick, and our host in the video explained it correctly: there is a different connection with the car. However, late model transmissions that come with paddle shifters and/or the ability to shift using the stalk (i.e., a Tiptronic system) allow the driver to experience some of that fun, minus the use of your left foot. It's a small trade-off. When you consider that the manual transmission is slowly being phased out, it's going to get to the point where it's going to be hard to pick a car up new without one. It will always have a cult following, and I wouldn't mind picking one up just for some weekend fun.
Automatics nowadays will always out perform manual's because the computer is way faster than any human responses. Ten speed or even eight speed transmission's are technological Marvel's....
Mine has an automatic. In the manual mode using the paddle shifters I watch the tachometer too much and get going too fast fast. My knee's are bad and I couldn't get a manual.
I bought a 2019 all black 370Z sport coupe 6M and love it. Nissan upgraded the clutch starting in 2018 with a Gredy unit that is a vast improvement over the stock unit.
@@itshappening100 First, I'd like to correct my misspelling of the company's name. The company that makes the clutch is Exedy, not Gredy. The pedal feel is very smooth and linear, no abrupt transition when the clutch disengages or engages and the amount of pedal pressure required to disengage the clutch is less. From what I've read, Nissan hasn't changed the concentric slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder, so there may be the same problems with those things. I did an early flush of the clutch fluid and used a very high temperature hydraulic fluid. I plan on doing flushes of that fluid every 15K miles.
@@itshappening100 The shifting was notchy in my Z for the first 10K mikes or so while it was breaking in. Putting some Redline 75W-85 MTL in the gearbox helped to smooth out the shifting. It still isn't the smoothest shifting car I've owned but I've gotten used to it.
As someone who has owned 350's and 370's since 2004, and whose most recent one is an automatic, personally I'd never go back to a manual (my first 3 cars were manuals). As you say, gear shifting is far quicker in an automatic and you can always have 2 hands on the wheel - the flappy paddles are in an excellent position. As for fun, I find the auto much more fun and much less effort. There's a reason for F1 cars not having manual gearshifts!!!!
Does the auto gearbox on the 370z get damaged quickly if your using the paddle shifters too much? how often do you use the paddle shifters and whats your experience?
So I have money saved up and I need a different opinion or view of what I’ve been thinking. So, there is the option of getting a 2007 350z auto or manual. But there is also the choice of getting a 2013 Evo X. Manual of course. I live in Florida where there’s crazy traffic during afternoon hours but still able to drive manual around where I live. I’m not asking for people to choose what car I should get but if you were in my position what you would get and why
I've owned cars with both transmissions, and I think that you have to consider the environment that you are driving in the most and allow that to heavily weigh on your choice. Obviously, there are other things to consider, but to me, stop-and-go commute traffic is tedious, and a manual will get tiresome. If the car isn't a daily driver in a heavily populated area, I'd more likely look at a manual. In my instance, I went looking for a manual, but ended up buying the auto because, 1) the car was in the color I wanted, it was fully loaded with every available option, it had very low miles, and the cost was reasonable, and 2) the 370Z felt like a Grand Tourer because of its weight and performance. Drive both before you make a decision. That in itself may be enough to help you decide what's going to be better for you.
@@spennysti4486 I am BEYOND happy I bought a manual Z. So stoked for the future with this car, and traffic isn't all that bad where I live + no hills so.
Ark test pipes and catback if you want to keep the duals and if u want performance the tomei ti single exit is the best. Then get some stillen gen 3 intakes or admin intakes and a tune, thats pretty much full bolt on for these cars.
I have a question to all you guys im deciding to buy a nissan 350z and was wondering what best exhaust to get .. im new to the whole mods and stuff would it make the car loud and good or is it more to it and if i get a automatic is it good for loud and good sounds or manual is a way to go or is it just depending on the exhaust you install? Thank you
+lamosvlogs In my opinion it is worth it getting it with the sport, the brakes and tires really make a big difference in the appearance of the car and some performance, it looks a lot more aggressive with the thick 275s, 19s and big brakes, also you have sport mode if you’re on a manual and makes downshifting sound amazing and driving easier, I also think the sport comes with the little spoiler which also makes the z look more aggressive, I’ve seen them without the spoiler and not a big fan, that’s all my opinion though, sport or non sport still an amazing car.
You think if I get a base for rn I can upgrade with my own spoiler and own brake later is a good idea? Cuz the base is cheaper for me so you think I should go for the base than the sport?
Hi I have a question about the 350z auto or manual? I’m looking to buy one soon and I want to build it up as my project car up to 600hp and I was wondering if getting a manual would be better for that build or a auto will be fine. There are lots of autos for sale near me and I don’t want to rush my purchase and see what to get.
I was very big fun a manual cars up to get automatic. Got BMW 330I 300BHP manual and same automatic . And will never come back to manual. Automatic just kickdown and car push you to the seat . If you know how to driving automatic you will love it. 0-60 or drift. For me automatic is best. Now time to jump from bmw to 370z 😊
I had a 2013 touring with a manual. What a pain in the ass. Kept getting stuck in gear. I was on interstate 10 stuck in 3rd. Gears were really rough. Felt like I had to force it. PS Nissan was no help. Apparently there was a broken fly wheel🤷🏻♂️ I now have a 2020 sport touring in white(manual was grey). LOVE this new car!! It’s been almost two weeks. So smooth. So fast. The metallic white looks sharp! My fourth Z (84, 91, 2013, 2020) the 91 and now 2020 are the best cars I e owned👍🏻👍🏻😎
Does the auto gearbox on the 370z get damaged quickly if your using the paddle shifters too much? how often do you use the paddle shifters and whats your experience?
+FR-S Rafa Insurance is around 290-300 something or so for us, its pretty expensive because of our age haha, but just incase you should check before making a decision
FR-S Rafa 20 with a 370, I pay 400 a month with 1 pretty big speeding ticket under my belt. It all depends on where you live, age of the car, what kind of coverage you want, and if you're financing the car. Usually finance companies require a certain amount of deductions which can make your payments go up. Definitely look into the requirements and keep calling around. Also see if you're able to put it under your parents policy, it might lower the cost more than if you set up your own.
Which one is louder? I'm worried that cops will keep their eyes on me if they hear a loud car and it's a sports car. Because the 350z or 370z are sports cars, they stand out more and the police are on to them more.
+A M 370zs and 350zs stock aren’t necessarily loud at all, they do have a little roar but not loud to the point it will catch a cops attention, so no worries
Manual definitely feels faster but it's not I can confirmed that mine is auto my friends is a manual and I beat him In 1/4 miles run using my paddle shifters and without paddles not using the paddle shifters feels faster for some reason i drove his and he drove mine and same thing my car wins all the time mine stock only custom rims and his has intakes and exhaust
I went with the 7AT as it's a daily, and Portland traffic is a complete nightmare now, after having a stage II clutch in a wrx as daily, never again! The biggest downside to the auto if you're really pushing it, is that it does cause higher temps under the hood. So a transmission cooler is a wise idea if you live in a warmer climate. Also the auto transmission is not "serviceable" by the dealership until you hit 100k miles, which by then you'll nolonger be under warranty. The folks on the 370z site seem to believe that you really need to flush it at 36-40k miles to ensure it remains reliable if you plan to keep the vehicle for the long term. I do enjoy the auto not just for the daily drive/stop n go, but it gives me a lot more confidence to late brake before turn in, as it never misses a rev match downshift. It really puts you in the zone and focused on driving as your attention is more focused on steering/turn in/braking. The AT just makes the whole process more efficient, maybe less "fun" but more clinical in a way. My conclusion: If its your daily driver and you live in the city and the majority of your commute is in a high traffic situation, the auto is worth it. If you like to beat on it, but don't want to give up the convenience of the auto, then a stillen transmission cooler is a wise upgrade. If you want to go forced induction, then you're looking at additional expense for a level 10 transmission upgrade. I think it would be best to keep it N/A and just get a different final drive (4.08's), and call it good. (you're looking at $25-$30k for a transmission + turbo kit + install cost to do it right, and at that point, then it becomes questionable if you'd just be happier in a cayman with a pdk, or a myriad of other cars). If it's a weekend/track/second vehicle/easy daily commute: The manual is the better option and will def. be a better resale value. Easier to throw a beefy clutch on the manual if you're going to go forced induction, but you do have to get the CSC issue fixed (Z1 makes a kit). Both cars need oil coolers, front sway bars + spl endlinks (do NOT buy SPC unless you want to crash n die), and tires: Tires made the biggest difference on this car! Pilot super sports are worth every penny if it's a daily driver. Traction Control: This annoying "feature" can be turned off, but the main culprit is the rear diff, and tire temp/condition/type. A wavetrac rear diff from Z1 is a must have if you really want to put the power down in 1st-2nd on corner exit. The stock rear diff in the base/sport/nismo = they are all junk, just the sport/nismo is slightly better. For me personally I spend the majority of the time stuck behind: Crv/Rav4's, Outbacks, Prius's, and a sea of anonymous "me too" Suv's, so the auto was one way to lessen the annoyance of the stop/go commute. One other side benefit: When I bring it in for service, they see it's an auto, and then they are not out whaling on my car like they would every single time I ever brought the wrx in. For those that have the auto, the best driver/channel I've found on youtube is this guy, he matches/beats a ton of cars you wouldn't think so in a crappy auto: ruclips.net/user/8910Kekovideos
+07wrxtr1 I agree with you on the overall message and way of thinking about the auto tranny, thank you for the feed back and your opinion on all, learned a bit and made me think 👍🏼
My homies all got manual and they really some jdm mfs so obv they’re encouraging me to get a manual, I’m still leaning towards an auto cuz I live in LA and I’m planning to daily drive it tbh and there’s a lot of traffic. Plus most of the best prices I’ve seen are auto and I feel like manuals are kinda rare here. Ive never driven a manual tbh but honestly it sounds super fun, part of me does want a manual cuz idk I feel like it’s more of a race car feel
Unless you're in urban stop-and-go traffic two hours a day... Then I disagree. Manual's have their advantages, too, and I wouldn't stop at buying one for some weekend thrills.
Manual is way better more reliable plus Nissan makes the worse automatic transmission out there cuz they use this super crappy company that makes crap transmissions
Summary of the video . Pretty much recommend a Manual car . If you riding sport and wanna have fun and be connected the fullest to your car . The Automatic gets the job done . When you make the decision to get which one . Always keep in mind your environment. Some people drive in very traffic places and it would be a lot of work to be in a manual Switching first to Neutral repetitive . Manual cars are cheaper than Automatic and easier to maintain since the engine isn’t very complex like a Automatic . Manual Are fuel efficient.
I’ll always pick an auto. Manuals are fun for about 20 minuets. Then I just get the same bored feeling I do when I drive an auto. Maybe it’s because I hate cars all together and would rather be on a motorcycle.
Why do every you tubers sound the same and talk the same and the manual or automatic pretty much dosnt make a difference part from computer controlled auto
A video of two kids taking their dads' cars without consent. When they're old enough to actually take their driving tests, they'll wish they never got into such trouble. In England, we call that TWOCCing. Taking WithOut Consent. We outlaw that in our country.
Ever since one night I saw a sexy pearl white 370 vert, it's been in my top 5 dream cars ever since ;^} Dat ass was phat! Cool comparison and same year too you don't see such a good comparison between manual and automatic on youtube very much. +Sub
Atrocious video. You spoke nothing about the actual gearboxes... Many auto gearboxes are clunky and does not fit the cars but this you didn't even mention. When you watch a video like this you expect to get some information out of it and not just your top of mind reaction...
Good video I liked how you didn't bash automatic drivers. Only real car drivers respect both transmissions.
+Dookies Daysofff Thanks a ton for the support man! And of course, transmission doesn't matter we're all one big community! 😁
I respect the amount of work the engineers put in Automatic Transmissions. Its complicated to understand how automatic transmissions work

Not so much about bashing automatics. Just that old habits die hard, and automatics have come a long way in the past decade.
I gonna get a manual so my friends and family cant borrow it.
Same😂😂😂
Lmaoo bruh you read my mind

I do a lot of drag racing, and crawling in bumper to bumper traffic, I'd take an auto Z over a manual Z any day. Up Rev it, and it's even better.
Nothing against Manuel’s but I’ll take a 7at over a 6sp anyday that extra gear makes a difference 👍🏻
Automatic is faster and manual is more fun end of story
+Nick Cotiuc Yup!

Bee Xiong that’s why I’m buying a stage 2 clutch
love mine...stage three Action 6-puck sprung clutch and flywheel. my g35 is stage 2 action clutch and flywheel and I don't mind the engagement
a lot of people are complaining about having Manuel in traffic but there is a maneuver called clutchless maneuver and if mastered right you will never have to use the clutch only in first gear. but watch out cuz you could grind the gears have not done right with the RPMs
Come to uk, where u've got traffic light every 2 meters, then ull hate the foken' manul.
Purists struggle to comprehend that the auto is better in every way... especially because it can be a manual and is BETTER at it.
Hexecutable in EVERY WAY? What about the driving engagement? Lol auto is boring unless we start talking about Porsche’s and such
I'd stop short from saying that owning a slush box with this size of motor is "boring". It will always have a cult following, and I wouldn't mind picking one up just for some weekend fun.
dope banner, thanks for reppin'
+Tony Anaya Thank you! And np thanks for making it happen 👍🏼
I would get the manual but the problems with the CSC are enough to make me lean toward the automatic.
What is CSC?
0:00 can anyone shift any slower?
haha yeah
This tougher than people think automatics ain't like they was in the day but the stick is still fun af I'd pick the stick
Nice video! I’m getting a 370Z very soon!!
+Majestic one 27 Thanks man! , that’s awesome welcome to the z fam hope you enjoy it haha
love my auto 370z. I'm bolt on tuned from saul here in cali and have marked 3.9 0-60 on my 7at. Auto gearing is OP.
+Notorious IG Yeah I noticed when I drove it and 3.9 0-60 is really quick
Danny Z you in socal? We should meetup sometime bro! Add my instgram jbluez34
Notorious IG I would be down man but I’m in Florida haha
Notorious IG can I follow you on IG? I'm from nor cal and have a 2011 370z 7at
The 7 speed transmission is reliable, any modifications torwards the transmission?
Automatics nowadays will always out perform manual's because the computer is way faster than any human responses. Ten speed or even eight speed transmission's are technological Marvel's....
Mine has an automatic. In the manual mode using the paddle shifters I watch the tachometer too much and get going too fast fast. My knee's are bad and I couldn't get a manual.
Thanks for the video you convinced me to buy an auto
Im 17 and this is my dream car. Is this a good car for a college student?
+Ace Tex Of course! I am starting college soon, it is a great fun car, go for it man!
I have a video on good things and bad things about the car on my channel, if you want to watch it, it helps to give you a bit of an idea
Yes it is. As long as you can afford it, you should be fine.
Ace Tex that’s what my cousin got for his first car And I’m thinking about one too and they are amazing
Bought mine at 19 lol do it it's a dope car
I bought a 2019 all black 370Z sport coupe 6M and love it. Nissan upgraded the clutch starting in 2018 with a Gredy unit that is a vast improvement over the stock unit.
In what ways do you notice that improvement?
@@videomaniac108 oh, okay.. I drove 350z and the clutch was hard and the shifting just felt brutal... not in good way
@@itshappening100 The shifting was notchy in my Z for the first 10K mikes or so while it was breaking in.
I want to avoid the CSC issue of the manual transmission 370z so it doesn't matter to me if i buy an automatic.
My only concern... is the auto a cvt?? Cuz nissan has bad history with those
So I have money saved up and I need a different opinion or view of what I’ve been thinking.
I've been torn between auto or manual for months now, and I still don't know which to get :/
Everyday driving go auto, performance go manual
@@spennysti4486 I bought a manual 370z Sport for my daily shortly after posting that comment 😂
@@Nateabolic how u liking it?
@@spennysti4486 I am BEYOND happy I bought a manual Z. So stoked for the future with this car, and traffic isn't all that bad where I live + no hills so.
@@Nateabolic huge W bro. I think I might get an auto because I live in SoCal and it’s pretty trafficy sometimes
Do all 2009 Auto Z's come with paddle shifters?
+SharkByte Yep
@@DannyZee thank god
Danny z. I got a question, I have two weeks with a 370z. Stock,. Whats the best aftermarket exhaust,. Sound and performance 🤔. Gracias
Ark test pipes and catback if you want to keep the duals and if u want performance the tomei ti single exit is the best. Then get some stillen gen 3 intakes or admin intakes and a tune, thats pretty much full bolt on for these cars.
@@TheSleepyProdigy got it. Thank you bro
Thank you
Tomei or motordyne and I suggest Manual because u can downshift whenever u want
I thought the automatic was aspost to be faster. Iv got a 2015 370z base. 30,000 miles no issues yet
WHO da FOOK is that guy?.......... *L🤣L*
Time really flies my man !
🏆💯
aye danny what you think i should get a base model or sport model? or they almost the same just different wheels and brakes?
+lamosvlogs In my opinion it is worth it getting it with the sport, the brakes and tires really make a big difference in the appearance of the car and some performance, it looks a lot more aggressive with the thick 275s, 19s and big brakes, also you have sport mode if you’re on a manual and makes downshifting sound amazing and driving easier, I also think the sport comes with the little spoiler which also makes the z look more aggressive, I’ve seen them without the spoiler and not a big fan, that’s all my opinion though, sport or non sport still an amazing car.
Thank you I'm thinking of getting a black one or white it's hard to decide lol
When your wife says you can get a sports car but cant get a manual...but I cant complain, still get a sweet car!
I had a 2013 touring with a manual. What a pain in the ass. Kept getting stuck in gear. I was on interstate 10 stuck in 3rd. Gears were really rough. Felt like I had to force it. PS Nissan was no help. Apparently there was a broken fly wheel🤷🏻♂️
I now have a 2020 sport touring in white(manual was grey).
Danny looks so young without a beard lol
does the automatic have that pop when upshifting to the next gear like a manual? You know like when you let off the clutch?
No, auto shifting is smoother so there’s a lot less pop compared to a manual
How much do you pay for insurance for the car, I'm 18 and going to buy a 370 unless insurance is to high I'll buy a 350 instead
+FR-S Rafa Insurance is around 290-300 something or so for us, its pretty expensive because of our age haha, but just incase you should check before making a decision
FR-S Rafa I just turned 25 and dropped to around 145 a month through state farm with full coverage
Want a 350z auto so bad, only because itll be a daily commuter + a show car but the manual is way more fun to drive and the burnouts are better...
Personally i think manual is better solely because its more fun to drive. plus u can drift and do burnouts etc
its so hard to find Manuals
I want manual because the car just sounds better 😍. I’d get two cars 1 manual 1 automatic just for the morning commutes.. 😬
I love my automatic 370z but I wish I got a manual too ❤😫🔥🤦♀️
Damn you look gorgeous .. what’s your insta
+Jose Semino Yeah automatic is faster, but manual feels faster and its a bit more fun.
You should make a video about 'how to drive manual' !!
Classic Snipez Definitely a video i will do👍🏼 thanks for the idea 😁
My homies all got manual and they really some jdm mfs so obv they’re encouraging me to get a manual, I’m still leaning towards an auto cuz I live in LA and I’m planning to daily drive it tbh and there’s a lot of traffic. Plus most of the best prices I’ve seen are auto and I feel like manuals are kinda rare here. Ive never driven a manual tbh but honestly it sounds super fun, part of me does want a manual cuz idk I feel like it’s more of a race car feel
Can't go wrong with that manual lol
+Jr Bello You know it! Haha
Unless you're in urban stop-and-go traffic two hours a day... Then I disagree. Manual's have their advantages, too, and I wouldn't stop at buying one for some weekend thrills.
Also add what's the traffic like on your commute. TRUUUUUST ME, u don't want a manual when ur commute is bumper to bumper traffic
manual sux in heavy traffic. auto is better you can still use the paddles.
Manual is way better more reliable plus Nissan makes the worse automatic transmission out there cuz they use this super crappy company that makes crap transmissions
Give me paddles shifters all day easier for traffic I'll do manual on the track only.
Slave cylinder goes bad in the manual
Ahh the white is beautiful. I ended up with red 😭
Manual is more fun but if u live in a state thats known for heavy traffic. I don't think fun is the word I want to descibe driving a manual car.
I’ll always pick an auto. Manuals are fun for about 20 minuets. Then I just get the same bored feeling I do when I drive an auto. Maybe it’s because I hate cars all together and would rather be on a motorcycle.
Really?? No Drag Race??? ......
what is this? motor trend?
Should have raced each other
I'mma stay with the automatic 🙃😋😁
I got automatic cause I can’t drive a manual anymore these days
i wish i knew how to drive manual 😭
All that matters is you get a sport package.
Why do every you tubers sound the same and talk the same and the manual or automatic pretty much dosnt make a difference part from computer controlled auto
Y’all didn’t race
I may be trading my challenger in for a 2011 Nissan 370Z tomorrow. It’s The base model automatic.
How'd it go
The automatic in the 350z is horrible but the 370z isnt bad
Kinda of remind me of Canelo Alvarez
Should have asked someone who knows how to effectively shift a manual trans car, i.e. not someone who lives in the US...
Someones having a bad day 😂
@@DannyZee. Danny 370Z. Nope. Just fact. 😂. Have you watched the video?

Cool comparison and same year too you don't see such a good comparison between manual and automatic on youtube very much. +Sub

The manual it's fun to drive more than automatic
Manual - there you go, don’t bother watching and save yourself 5 minutes .

The auto also has paddles so I would take that one
U said Automatic like 99999999999 time
The automatic has a elastic feel and slow to respond. It's no GT-R transmission. One reason i sold the car.
The one what you like.
Dario Milardovic yup!
why not both =p

Atrocious video. You spoke nothing about the actual gearboxes... Many auto gearboxes are clunky and does not fit the cars but this you didn't even mention. When you watch a video like this you expect to get some information out of it and not just your top of mind reaction...
