    Great video Jason. I haven't driven the lost knife in about 10 years now. Your video brought back so many memories, wife and will have to head out next summer and go for a drive. Thanks again for the video, that was fantastic.

    Just ran this but in the opposite way, came from the south up to the switchbacks. Plan was to go up and around the Margaret lake loop but some of the ruts were a little deeper than I wanted to tackle solo in a stick tundra with no winch. Had a great time weaving it up and down the switchbacks out to the 40 though! Gonna have to come back another time for Margaret lake!

    Hey Jason, a group of us did the whole Lost Knife Trail about a month and a half ago, it was raining and really wet... Those switch backs are no joke when everything is slick we went the other way you did, really fun trip but the rain added way more than a point to the difficulty rating that's for sure!! See you at the Expo bud

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  3 года назад

      I could not agree more. When it is wet out the trail is a lot harder. I really love those switchbacks, so much fun! See you at the Expo!!

    Could you do Lost Knife in your RAM Warlock? You said its not trail ready yet...how come? Theyre fairly capable stock aren't they?

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  Год назад +1

      Yes the Ram is capable but at the time of that video, it still had the stock tires from the factory.....they are garbage.
      In fact 2 tires decided to separate on that particular camping trip.

  • @andyloucks

    Looks like it might be a good first time off-roading trail to try with a buddy? I’m just running a stock 2006 Toyota Sequoia so want to see how it handles trails before I start bolting on and adding things.

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  6 месяцев назад +1

      It is a great trail to try!! Keep in mind the difficulty will go up with rain or snow/ice!
      Always make sure you have recovery gear with you.

  • @jrock2142
    @jrock2142 Год назад +1

    Think a stock ram rebel would make this trail?

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  Год назад

      There will be a couple spots where your bumper will rub.
      You will have to pick your line.
      I have seen other rams do it with little to no damage and other Rams rip their Bumpers off.
      Also the time of year and weather will impact that as well.
      Have good tires or chains if you are doing it in the winter.
      Always make sure you have recovery equipment and let people know where you are going.

  • @christianmusicchannel8861

    I wanna go there. Idk if my kia borrego v8 could go through this. It has 4low and 4high. Idk much about lockers and other 4x4 system. Do i need lift kit or anything I need suggestion. Ty

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  2 года назад

      I am not familiar with a Kia Borrego. If you have 4x4 you should be fine. There may be some spots where your bumper will rub. If it is wet ...that will increase the difficulty. Make sure you have recovery gear and that someone knows you are out there. Sometimes going with someone is a good idea in case you get stuck

  • @charlesmagno28

    is this like a beginner trail? would be our first time, we just got a 2017 Jeep Patriot, planning to change tires , thoughts?

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  2 года назад

      It is a fairly easy trail. There are a couple high clearance spots where you may rub your bumper.

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  2 года назад

      Also....if it wet or snowy, that will add to the difficulty of the trail

    Does Lost Knife water get deep enough that a snorkel is needed?
    I know some people that needed to winch a bunch in the worst conditions.
    I've done it 3 times: bone dry, a little wet, and in the winter.
    Great video!

    • @OverlandAlberta
      @OverlandAlberta  3 года назад +1

      Thanks!
      I have never used a snorkel, did it when real wet once.....no snorkel.

    • @brbadventurer

      Not really, just deep muddy ruts. Daunting puddles that look like ponds in places but not very deep. I would suggest a decent off road tire and not a street tire for this trail. An A/T will get you through with a fight but a mud tire is a better option.

    • @danielpele5532

      @@brbadventurer sweet thanks! I run Duratracs. Probably a good idea to not go alone though!

    • @brbadventurer
      @brbadventurer 2 года назад +1

      @@danielpele5532 If you go alone on a weekend and get stuck it won't be long and someone will be by before long, pretty popular place. If you go on a week day you might wait a little while but someone will come by sooner or later and give you a hand. Most of the people on the trails out there are willing to lend a hand or give someone a tug out of a sticky situation. The majority of the trail riders are good people. Just don't park your travel trailer at a premium campsite for weeks at a time and not be in it to save your spot it might catch fire when you are gone.
