Happy Holidays Canna! You work so hard getting out all these RUclips episodes as well as all the other media, and your books. Hard work does pay off, and we should make sure to enjoy ourselves while doing our best to build financial security. Bless you, Canna.

I had income protection, which wouldn't pay out as I had an "invisible illness". I fought it for a few years and my Consultant was furious and wrote to them on my behalf, as did another who actually discovered the root cause of the illness. It's too easy to dismiss anything invisible and fighting them at a time when you're least equipped to do so is soul-destroying. I know of so many similar stories that I must admit that I don't it and doubt I'd ever invest again.

I’ve been unable to work for the past six months due to illness and my insurance has been a life saver. I had insurance on all my credit cards as well as income protection through my super fund. It means I haven’t had to worry about money and focus on getting well. I think income protection through super should be compulsory.

I started my FIRE journey with the lean FIRE goal of 40k passive income (with house paid off) and 250k as fat fire goal. I was only on it for about 2 years.
Unfortunately the burnout I didn't know I was dealing with ended up destroying my body in 2020, I'm mostly physically recovered but still wipe out easily.
I'm now struggling. As part of this burnout I found out I'm autistic and ADHD, so even though I've been searching and searching I cannot find a single job advertised that meets my needs.
It's a bit of a laugh really because I've always struggled getting a job, the only time I got hired was when no one else applied. Even if I'm really great at the job others still got opportunities over me.
I've done hospitality, fitness, financial industry, data review/validation/entry. Every time I'd just end up being an exhausted blob and only working/resting and trying to recover. It's also a fact that autistics have one of the highest rate of unemployment out of disabilities.
What's left for someone like me in this world that doesn't care about people?

Start taking care of your microbiome. Once you start taking care of your body it is easier to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Health is wealth 💜

Hi Canna, I'm from the UK, when you talk about passive income, what does that mean in the UK? The only thing I know that would be paid for sure when you retire is your pension, I can't see anything else that would guarantee the same money year on year without having to work?? or could someone please explain in layman terms what it means please? I should add I do have a small amount money in stocks and shares but the dividends on that change all the time, so not a guaranteed income I could rely on.

Hey Miss Luxe, she means that you have investments outside of your pension plan. So a share portfolio or investment property or even a business (that requires minimal input from you). Something that brings in income without you doing anything except allocating some money towards it while you are building the wealth.
You are absolutely smart enough to do this yourself, really. Slow and steady, no get rich quick fads. It’s the compounding over time that does the work.
Recommend learning about index funds/ETFs, the 4% rule and ‘the fire’ movement (financial independence retire early) (Grant Sebatier is a great starting point along with ‘your money or your life’, ), this channel of course, ‘the money guy’ on RUclips is US based, but like Canna, they’re financial planners and they have a thing called ‘the financial order of operations’, which lists out steps that are a general path to achieving passive income and retiring earlier than you would be able to with just a retirement pension.
