The fact that they animated senjumaru’s bankai so beautifully and so detailed even when they were having bts issues is so impressive. They deserve more time for cour 3.
"I don't think Senjumaru can see the future" See it? Perhaps not. But her Bankai is clearly a reference to the Loom of Fate and the three Sisters who weave it. Even the "Red String of Fate". So the Bankai almost certainly creates things based on the fate of it's victims.
She’s a seamstress - to do this job you need intricate measurements of the person and know their tastes etc. I think her bankai plays on this idea i.e., when people are trapped in it, she’s able to know everything about them, physically and emotionally, hence why she’s able to know what their weaknesses are and how to defeat them.
Plus Rose's Bankai told us clearly that one Zanpakuto can't actually create tons of elements. So rather than her actually being able to make tons of rooms that counter each enemy perfectly, it makes more sense to me that she's "just" controlling fate, and the effects are all the result of how they're currently destined to die.

I think she is not creating stuff after their fate, she is weaving fate itself. For the release of her full power the other members of the zero squad have to die leaving the soul king unprotected after they are gone. By weaving enemies into their fate that will defeat them she makes sure that there will be new, strong shinigami to take their role as protectors of the soul king that are even stronger than the royal guard
This is what Kubo originally wanted to make us see squad 0 like. I think it's also the reason why Ichibei vs Yhwach didn't conclude. To redeem the royal guard. Though now I'm actually curious if Nimaya, Hikufune and Kirinji would use Bankai while the others bleed.
I’m curious too but having Senjumaru be the one that remains was the best decision as she’s the one who was least explored in the manga and up to this point in the anime. Both in terms of how she is as a person and what her powers are.

I think so too. I think the next 2 seasons are going to be more of what Kubo had wanted back when these chapters were coming out, but had to cut a lot of his vision due to Jump forcing him to rush and finish the story up. There was hella backlash back in the day over how the arc went from suspenseful and amazing, to feeling like it was all over the place and almost as if there was chunks of content missing. A thing that reached it crescendo at the part of the manga that these 2 episodes covered. From here on out, it was a ton of ass pulls and rushing. as well as entire plot points and info just being left out or only hinted at. Only for us to find out in the last 10 chapters that Kubo had been working on a deadline since basically the start of the 2nd invasion. I think a lot of people who hated on Bleach for so long or only got into anime the last 3-4 years after Bleach had crash landed and burned, have no Idea what the Bleach fan base went through for a good 3 and a half years till we got the ending. It was a mess until we got the explanation of why it turned into a shitfest. And even then many of us still took issue with Jump for fucking the story over.
the blood oath also makes sense for the soul reaper philosophy. Even lieutenant class fighters need to be bound and have their power cut if they go into the wol, so even stronger squad 0 needs an additional seal to maintain the worlds
Meaning only 1 of 4 (excluding ichibei) could fight at full power as 3 would have "died" To nulify the seal, ps, shunenmaru power is weaveing themed, what also weaving themed?, fate. each quincy "death" In this episode foreshadowing their true defeats at gotei 13 hands.

Ichigo's Bankai was always hyped up for me, Yhwach already absorbed the Soul King but he still was like "ahh hell nah i'm not letting him activate that 💀"
By making only one member of Squad 0 use their Bankai, Kubo actually avoided any progression to the fight that could make them come across as weak because Senjumaru will either be defeated by Yhwach, who is the final villain and therefore the strongest active character, by Uryu, who was hyped up by Yhwach himself as worthy of being his successor or the combined efforts of the entire Royal Guard and in all of the three cases it'll just show how much of a monster a single member o Squad 0 is without downplaying any of the other characters because even if they need a 4v1 to win, defeating a multiversal tier character isn't a small feat and I think this is genius Edit: As for the question of wether Aizen would win against Squad 0... definitely not in his monster form BUT maybe that's why he never used his Bankai during the FKT Arc, maybe he was saving it for his fight against Squad 0 and that's something he could even explain during Cour 3 or 4
@@rexlapis1075 Jugram was killed by Shutara's Bankai so as far as the ones trapped inside it fighting back goes, it's either all of them getting back up on their feet because Quincy fuckery or Uryu doing something by himself, I don't think the Balance can do anything otherwise we would have to consider Gerard as well. I also don't think Kubo wants them to lose so that's really the two possibilities, either they win as a group or Uryu shows them his power like Yhwach said he would, otherwise it'll probably come down to Yhwach saving them with the Almighty

Not only does this make Squad Zero look amazing but it also makes the Elite Sternritter look incredible too. The fact that it took a Bankai that shook the three worlds, and three Squad Zero sacrificing themselves, to defeat the six of them for the moment, is awesome.
Just a reminder because your statement may confuse people; 3 of them didn't sacrifice themselves so 1 of them can power up or use their combine strength. 3 of them sacrifice themselves so one of them can use their full power. They always were this powerful and its pretty clear that the Elite Sternritter would not stand a chance if all 4 of them can use their full power at the same time but that would mean the destruction of the 3 worlds if they were to do that. Hell, probably 2 of them using their full/true form would mean the destructions of the 3 worlds. That is bad ass.

They didn't have to kill themselves because the SS were strong. They killed themselves because 1.) It was necessary to break their limiters and 2.) Only 1 of them could use their full power while ensuring the safety of the multiverse. They could have easily used their Bankais and demolished the SS, but they cared more about the stability of the multiverse.

People need to remember that Kubo was really unwell during the final arch of bleach. that's why so many things were rushed. Really glad the anime is able to expand and give more depth and redemption to this arch.

yes. kubo stated he is adding scenes into the anime for more context because at the time of the manga he was both sick and rushed by editors that he did not get to properly finish the manga. so the anime expands a lot. squad zero is legitimately each casually stronger than yamaoto and are not allowed to use thier full power because it was causing the 3 worlds to tremble.@@bboygenetics9882
Senjumaru is HOW YOU WRITE A GOOD FEMALE CHARACTER. First off her Design is amazing, she's looks like an Asian woman compared to basicly every other woman in Bleach, she's crazy powerful as we could clearly see, you really don't want to piss her off, BUT in her battle with Ishida you can see how smoothly and delicately she moves, when she crafts her umbrella, parries Ishida's attack and spins it she says "So gentle... Just like the spring rain." The reason i'm highliting this is because it's BEAUTIFUL. She has a taste for GOOD things, she's a Craftswoman as it's obvious and does BEAUTIFUL things. If you told me she Crafted Shunsui's Kimono i'd say that's a great touch connecting the 13 Court Guard Squads to the Zero Division in present time and i'd say it would be fitting because one it connects her ability to more than just fighting and 2 she's a Beautiful woman so it would make sense for Shunsui to flirt her. So in the end you're writting and designing an older woman who is beautiful, graceful and powerful and part of that power is from her beauty and grace. To me this makes me feel like she's Human, and something that i personally love about Ichigo is exactly how so much more human Ichigo is compared to the vast majority of anime and manga MC's, so the fact that Senjumaru is also like that makes me elevate her and highlight her like this. This anime adaptation is DIVINE. LET THEM COOK!
I'm hoping Chad and Orihime get to do something now, they have so much wasted potential. Especially when Gerard uses miracle powers and Orihime's power literally rejects phenomenon. Complete missed opportunity to have her shine in a fight only she could win

No matter the issues with the finale/this cour in general both production and animation wise, it truly has added a LOT of exclusive scenes from kubo and the team enhancing the story altogether, which is at the end of the day the most important thing. I hope pierrot and taguchi take their time with cour 3, fix their issues and give us great content again.
I’ve spoken about the production issues and how it sort of lets down the finale imo, but since I’ve spoken about that already with other people I’d rather talk about the changes. Because oh my god, it’s one thing for a little change or an extended fight but THIS? Is totally different, it’s insanely good, the lore, implications, and portrayal are INSAAAANE. It’s above and beyond just fixing the fight, it’s totally altered the story in a much better way than it was before
That's a great explanation. My explanation was that her Bankai could read the threads of their lives and kill them based on their weakness. Which means these are the only ways they could be put down ergo why the get defeated the same or similar ways later on. What do you think?
100 percent expecting their fates to be manipulated and that their deaths are guaranteed once the bankai goes off, I expect very different fates for two of the royal guard compared to the manga
As we get closer to the ending, where Kubo's health started declineing more and Jump rushed him more, I am 99% sure we'll get more changes and addittions. Cour 3 will have more changes.

I had sworn they were going to return ichigo's fullbringer power to him so he would finally be complete. It's the only power he's missing. He's literally the only viable replacement.

Yeah, I'd love to have seen a peek at each 0 division bankai and more of their powers, but I'm ok with how this worked out. I also believe they are all equally as strong, but felt that Senjumaru probably has the most versatile bankai to deal with multiple opponents with different strengths. The others are probably sporting super strong bankai's, but may be something similar to a kenpachi/ichigo, where they are top tier bankais, but just not great matchups against them.
Thank you so much for your rant. "Fans"are a big reason why studios are afraid to make new original content because "fans" want what they want and won't ever be happy. This is even happening in America that's why every major studio is doing remakes. Maybe its lack of creativity, but fans are a part of the problem. We should enjoy these animated for what it is.
It's nice to see Squad Zero finally live up to their legend, because they definitely didn't in the manga. Now the claim of them being more powerful than the entire Gotei 13 actually feels true. Adored Senshumaru Shutara's design even as far back as her appearance in the manga and seeing her become the MVP of Squad Zero with such an amazing Bankai that shook three separate planes of existence was fantastically cathartic.
Ngl I don't know what Yhwach is gonna do now with Wahrwelth since he basically killed everyone down in the Wandenreich. There's no point in building a new castle if you have no soldiers to man it and no subjects to really rule over once the new world is created.
I have a feeling Senjumaru truly already won the fight but Yhwach will reverse everything when he first activates the Almighty. Either way this was an absolutely stellar finale and I’m so hyped lol.
I think her bankai can't deal direct damage. The other 3 members sacrificed themself to make this possible. That means for the next attack on the soul king there are only two members left. My guess is that she weaved their defeat into their fate so they will be defeated but also creates new individuals that are strong enough to do that. I think she is what makes it even possible that the others defeat them later. By that she makes sure that there are strong shinigami that can replace them in the zero squad.
It has to be Ishida who defeats Senjumaru with his Antithesis. The chapter in the Manga when YH opens his eyes is named "A" which explains his Almighty powers. So it only makes sense that the same episode would at least hint at Ishida's power Antithesis which is also A. In the same scene, Hashwalth explains Almighty to Ishida, which requires him not to be defeated at that time. Ishida will likely reverse and flip everything Senjumaru did which ends up defeating her and undoing everything she did.
just a small note Senjumaru said her Zanpakuto's name earlier when she was fighting Gerard.. it was "Shigarami" and to confirm that this was indeed the name of her Zanpakuto, the same word can be found within her Bankai's name, "Shatatsu Karagara *Shigarami* no Tsuji"
I like how beings of this level cannot simply release their full power without consequences. I always found it strange in shows like dragon ball super that someone who can destroy a multiverse could fight seriously on Earth without destroying everything.
One Bleach animator wrote that none of his work made it into the ep26, he really considers taking a break from Bleach 'cause of this - there were production issues and "bad animation" happens not 'cause animators are bad, but because they are not given enough time!
You're talking about Evoki? I have seen the cuts they sent and they looked very off model, the staff had to send it back and/or make changes. The person never did what was asked of them, but what they wanted.
@@tobbakken2911 and what is sad is that this approach works in most other shows that make use of styalized animation like one piece. this is why wano fights have so many different art styles in its sakuga moments. taguchi does not use stylized animation in his approach to tybw and wants very on model drawings similar to what chainsawman does.

Absolutely love the rant. I can’t believe I’m just now finding your page. The return of bleach has just made me want more bleach. I watched/read bleach when I was 24 in it’s entirety. I’m now 42 and extremely grateful. Bleach is like Game of Thrones. Could you image a turn back the pendulum all Quincy invasion anime, littered with fights with the original Shinigami. I’d pay to watch that and fully support it. Bleach is my all time favorite anime and I’m thankful to be watching it again.
Oetu's Bankai With Sayafushi would have been somethin to see, also I'm assumin as sword God He would have multiple Bankai, addin to his Brokeness😂😂 with the number of swords he Himself has which would go amazin with His Symbol on the Ouken Seal😅 I also love how He's The defect Leader among them in a fight

This makes me extremely excited for Ichigos bankai, i think this go round we will actually see why Ywach saw it as a major threat before removing it from the battle.
Bleach was one of the ones that started on top, got laughed into memedom and has now returned as a POWERHOUSE of an anime. This has been such a fun series to watch since its return, especially since it hasn't been focused on Ichigo but letting the other characters and their powers TRULY shine. Here is to hoping season 3 blows everyone away.
I think there’s a possibility her Bankai actually wove their eventual fates in this moment and that was it’s true power. It would also leave open the possibility that she could have actually killed them but chose to do the least reality warping necessary to guarantee their downfall keeping to the idea that their power was far more dangerous than the current threat.
Loved your "rant" section. The additions they've made to the series are dramatically more valuable than the scenes they cut. I can only imagine how transformative the changes to the final chapters are going to be.

Very important stuff, not just for Bleach, but for a healthy and informed outlook on life in general. Bringing real value to the table, appreciated to bankai and beyond! 🔥🔥🔥 Marcus Aurelius, the philosopher emperor of ancient Rome. I highly suspect you are actually familiar with him, or at least the teachings of Stoicism in general. The way you talked about considering ourselves lucky on how good the anime turned out really fits their teachings. Yyup, having a critical mind and pushing for better is important. But showing gratitude to the hard fought victories and understanding how mind bogglingly against the odds was getting this far is the other end of the scale. There is no balance without both. Be humble yet determined, understand the world and what you do or do not have control over, push hard on the former and don't waste your valuable energy on the latter. Raging at the slightest inconvenience and harassing staff just weakens your character and increases the stress for everyone. Just like swinging a sword without aim or intent... you will get tired, you won't hit the target and you may accidentally end up injuring yourself or your comrades. Patrick Bet-David of Valuetainment fame may not be as well known, but he is making some pretty big waves as a business guy and online educator. If I gotta say contemporary people who's work affected me the most... Kubo and Pat are my instant response. So I do not say his name lightly. But how you unpacked the restrictions of the studio and industry inner workings for everyday people, really pumped up the Pat fanboy in me. Chef's kiss. One more addition on the pacing and episode restrictions. It's not just the number of episodes. But the number of episodes per season, or cour. Even back in the day, an anime season is 12-14 episodes. And long running shows also have to adhere to that format even if we don't notice it mid-run. And while I also think we are running at warp speed and would've preferred a 16-17 episode run for both seasons for perfect pacing, no broadcasting would run an episode length like that. Ok, a 5 cour long running instead of a 4 cour seasonal would roughly fit that pace and broadcast schedule too. But that means longer pre-production and/or worse quality... also higher front-up costs and profits to maintain it only starting to flow in later with the trunkated airing without the hiatus between cours. Does anyone think a production community would've greenlit that especially at the level we get Bleach now? I doubt it. So 4 cour seasonal it is. That's what Taguchi had to cook with. And just as you talked about manga filler pages for optimal cliffhanger. Each cour has to be paced for not just the overall runtime, but to give that extra punch for the season finale. And just as The Blade Is Me dropped, I understood and forgiven 99% of cut content. There is no war won without casualties... and the team thread the needly the best they could to deliver that massive W with the season finale. And now they did it again. On Senjumaru and foreshadowing: I don't think she knows the future, but her bankai may sort of. Like it tailors their fate to their souls being intertwined with the threads of time so to speak. So the effects are not consciously picked by Senjumaru, but based on the victim's soul, it automatically delivers weaves some sort of poetic justice. Sewing puns absolutely intended. On Aizen: he would stomp even Squad Zero if he really WANTS to. And no amount of added content can change that. Now let me unpack that: Kenpachi vs Gremmy is a lot like Aizen vs Ichigo and helped me a lot to see the depth there. Gremmy's Imaginary was so hax, it was hardly defeatable. And Gremmy did not lost because his ability was weaker than Kenpachi, but due to personality/character flaws that made him lose control over his ability. Also epic foreshadowing regarding Kenpachi's bankai. Aizen with the Hougyoku fused into him is much the same. That's what Ichigo's line on Aizen deep down wanting to lose and feeling lonely ment. Aizen went past every barrier to reach his goal. And in the end he sacraficed his identity to reach it, and that hole in him collapsing made him lose. Gin's betrayal going from theoretical to factual Ichigo's unshakable resolve and transcended state beyond his power at the time Urahara's prepwork and trap, and the whole Gotei 13 uniting against him. In the end it all broke down his psyche, and the Hougyoku reacted to that. So Aizen VS Squad Zero implies he got past Ichigo. That would require going from butterfly to a different evolution path than monster which leads to victory. And what mental state he would be upon getting to the royal realm? To put simply: The Hougyoku IS me: Aizen steamrolls The Hougyoku AND me: Aizen gets destroyed hard. But there are infinite interesting scenarios on mind games and how he could fluctuate on the spectrum between the two, and where he would end. Have fun with that everyone!
I loved that kubo expanded on the zero division's fights and on their lore and im just absolutely happy that it was senjumaru who was chosen bc she was massively ignored in the manga and the anime kind of ignored her too up until now. Then seeing her bankai and then her spiritual pressure being felt all the way down to the world of the living where it was being felt by isshin snd ryuukin and shaking the skies. The only way it wouldve been even better is if they did show hueco mundo shaking too and showed nel and a silhouette of grimmjow looking up feeling it as well.
Great video man! My first time tuning in and thank you for keeping it about core 2 and not spoiling to much bc I'm not a Manga reader. I don't follow the animators all the way up to the studios enough to know anything substantial but I remember telling my friends soon as core 2 ended that as great as it was there was something missing almost like the same effort wasn't put in this core as they did in core 1 and you explained it eloquently. Also I think it's casuals that think it's the animators or directors fault whenever there are lack luster eps when to me its always obviously been the bosses fault and whoever is above him more so whoever is above the boss of course. Always go for the head of the snake, I just wish whoever is truly in charge of these decisions to limit truly expanded there minds bc I think it'll be worth it in the long run for bleach if they actually went all out! But maybe that's just me talking as fan and not a anime businessman from Japan. Honestly, I liked your talk in the 2nd half of the video. I didn't read the manga, waiting with hopes for Bleach's return, and I'm glad I did. Regardless, I appreciate finding someone trying to understand and defend the animation team, because oh hell, I'm glad they are doing it!
Im glad we are where we are in terms of episodes left vs chapters left. My biggest issue was with the final battle and how hyped ichigos true bankai was for it to basically be an after thought. Hopefully what we get is Kubos true vision for how it ends and not the rushed one.
Her Bankai is a reference to the Fates, which uses threads representing a persons life to weave a tapestry and in the end cuts the thread to seal their fate.
It was important that you explained to the audience what happens behind closed doors with regards to the anime production. So far the Bleach team has done a fantastic job and we should all encourage them to continue to deliver like this for the last two parts! Great video.
Kubo was Cooking a perfect 5 star dish with these 2 The only things you could say is that there isnt enough sakuga but you can say that about any anime Sakuga takes tons of time and Work and its way to hard doing that in less than 1 Year I think the adaptation is near perfection and im looking forward cour 3 & 4 the additions are perfect ❤.
Squad Zero went from Fraud Academy to PEAK University. Like god damn seriously? A bankai strong enough to make all 3 universes shake? You know this only makes me more hyped for Ichigo's bankai because I'm hoping to god it is this peak.
Given that cour 1 blu ray gave us an extra scene with Sternritter Q (seperated video), there is a possibility they might add an extra scene or so for cour 2 blu ray, etc.
I don't mind the comedy and/or ecchi being removed and/or toned down. What I don't really like is a lot of important context being removed and a lot of things being sped through without giving time to breathe... I entirely get that they have limitations on episodes; I just wish they had a 5th Cour or 15-16 episode per Cour instead of 13. However, I maintain that there are a few places where the wrong thing were emphasized that could have been redirected. The early episodes of Cour 2, for instance, had some really wonky pacing. Take Episode 2, where we speed through the major fights of Toshiro and Soi Fon. What do we focus on instead? Well, an extended scene of Omaeda talking to his sister, lingering on the confrontation between Kyoraku and Haschwalth despite nothing happening there, having the 12th Division members repeat themselves over and over at Askin. However, my own gripes with the series aside, there's no point in getting mad any the people involved. There are too many things in play that no one person, or even one team, can do anything about.

Episode 26 was perfection. I have not read the Manga but am a Bleach anime fan. Part 2 as a whole and then to conclude with Episode 26, I'm speechless.
there's this really good post by saturn_eclipse over on the bleach subreddit explaining more about Senjumaru's bankai: which lost some meaning after being translated to english. from the original kanji, it means ""Crossing into the Buddhist world(娑闥), only skeleton will remain at the end of time (迦羅骸). The sewing needle (刺絡) constructs the crossroads (辻) of life and death." her shikai sewed cloth and her bankai sewed destiny. in the animation you see 6 crossroads to 6 doors for all the remaining 6 members under the royal palace. each one now bound to their destiny as per their final death animations. i don't know the meanings of each death by the differnt elements as i never finished the manga and will just finish the story in 2024 when S3 comes out, but for those of you who do know the endings, it would probably mean something (one dying by fire, the other by ice and so on). i assume in S3 they all survive this but die again anyway according to how the bankai showed--by their bound destiny. go check out the original post. great read.
I think it’s important to take into account WHERE the bankai is being activated. They are very close to the soul king - therefore any super powerful bankai would have an effect on all 3 worlds - since the soul king is nearby. I’d imagine the same would happen if Yamomoto activated his bankai in the soul palace.
It was interesting when It was said that if they went full power, they would shake the heaven and earth. So they nerfed themselves. They chose my favorite Division zero member to go bankai.

So its pretty clear now that if the four zero squad members were allowed to use their full power, the elite Sternritters would not stand a chance. The only reason they cant is because it would mean the destruction of the 3 worlds. Am I getting that right? I mean, these guys gave them all they can handle without releasing their zanpakuto. That is a pretty badass way to rewrite the wrong on how they were handled in the manga. I am pretty sure that the one who defeats that last squad zero member is Uryu so we understand why he was chosen as Yhwach successor but I highly doubt he would of stood a chance if all 4 members would of been allowed to use their true form. Edit: they didnt even release their Shikai now that I am thinking about it, or do I have that wrong? Maybe they were already fighting with that form.
That's basically it. The destruction of the three Worlds. The remedy can't be worse than the disease. Hence, the other three decided to die to give a chance for stability of the realms. This was kind of a risky barter. However, with the recent additions and changes from the manga, we are yet to see how Kubo gonna play this Squad Zero power balance. Till now, he's done an excellent job at redeeming the 'basically' demigods of the bleach world.
It was not Haschwalth who caused good fortune for Yhwach to escape womb. Even he himself(Haschwalth) was surprised. It was Uryu's Antithesis switching between two objects whether object is living or non living.
Hi flame of rebirth. i want to say thank you for quality videos on bleach. I finally subscribed today and the tipping point was you carefully explaining to the bozos(some group of bleach fans) why certain things had to happen i.e. staff issues, some low quality episodes and exclusion of some ecchi/comedic fillers. it pisses me off when people don't actually examine the possible reasons why certain things happen before making a judgement or passing a comment of ignorance. And with all the restrictions, the staff at hand did their utmost best with the limited resources at hand. Bleach is my fav anime of all time. I do like jjk but it has lotta issues but since it has a studio like mappa working on it, they eclipsed the flaws with spectacular visuals. Hence the newbies think jjk and demon slayer amongst a few are better. I hope as you said later in the video, due to the justice Kubo has done to squad zero, we hope to see more justice like, ichigo's bankai, ryoken and ishin involvement, Aizen extended participation in the fight, etc Thank you. About kano he is working in solo leveling i think probably kanno will be free for cour 4. The cour 3 is less possible but not impossible. The agenda of the animators is the major issue too. Is not only the producer.
I still think that Aizen could have defeated everyone in the zero squad, except ichibe. But man I cannot believe how much was added to the zero squads battle. I hope they would do a bit more, but this was insane!!! It was literally the thing I disliked the most about the manga when it came out, and now they are finally giving this battle its proper due!! I hope they do something similar with ichigo’s bankai at the end, so that we actually can understand his power at the end of the series.
Yeah I feel like the four just can't do anything about Aizen's immortality(maybe this could change depending on how Shutara's bankai actually works) but I really just don't think Aizen stands a chance against Ichibe, like I really can't think of anything Aizen can do to Ichibe, like the only reason Yhwach won is because of The Almighty being able to restore his own name and powers but once Aizen gets hit with Ichimonji it's all over
I did the math. The part one of TYBW was about 63 chapters adapted, part two was like around 66 chapters, which the second half of chapter 609 where if you read the managa you know is most likely where part 3 will pick back up. Which leaves roughly 77 chapters left of the serious. Thats including chapter 609 cuz like 7 pages of that chapter are left to be animated.
The greatest thing to BLEACH is that Kubo really makes a point of the belief of "Duty" and "Principles" in all stages of life. There are so many examples of this throughout the story of BLEACH but the final ep of Cour 2 just really hammers that in. It is going to be so interesting on how Kubo will apply this to Ichigo in Hell Arc. BTW, Lil Barro got such OP ability that can confuse so many. I love that ability so much.
I’m definitely looking forward to the next cour after seeing this! I was paying attention to how much they’d stretch this out, but I’m liking this pace. I remember when FMA Brotherhood was released. Even though I liked it, it seemed super short.
The fact that they animated senjumaru’s bankai so beautifully and so detailed even when they were having bts issues is so impressive. They deserve more time for cour 3.
Ehh, most of it was pure CGI though, NOT SAYING IT'S BAD, its just that 3D animation is much easier to do.

See it? Perhaps not. But her Bankai is clearly a reference to the Loom of Fate and the three Sisters who weave it. Even the "Red String of Fate". So the Bankai almost certainly creates things based on the fate of it's victims.
She’s a seamstress - to do this job you need intricate measurements of the person and know their tastes etc.
I think her bankai plays on this idea i.e., when people are trapped in it, she’s able to know everything about them, physically and emotionally, hence why she’s able to know what their weaknesses are and how to defeat them.
Plus Rose's Bankai told us clearly that one Zanpakuto can't actually create tons of elements. So rather than her actually being able to make tons of rooms that counter each enemy perfectly, it makes more sense to me that she's "just" controlling fate, and the effects are all the result of how they're currently destined to die.

It's following the theme of transcendent bankai. She goes from weaving "clothing" to literally weaving the "fabric of reality "
I think she is not creating stuff after their fate, she is weaving fate itself. For the release of her full power the other members of the zero squad have to die leaving the soul king unprotected after they are gone. By weaving enemies into their fate that will defeat them she makes sure that there will be new, strong shinigami to take their role as protectors of the soul king that are even stronger than the royal guard
This is what Kubo originally wanted to make us see squad 0 like.
I think it's also the reason why Ichibei vs Yhwach didn't conclude. To redeem the royal guard.

I’m curious too but having Senjumaru be the one that remains was the best decision as she’s the one who was least explored in the manga and up to this point in the anime. Both in terms of how she is as a person and what her powers are.

I think so too. I think the next 2 seasons are going to be more of what Kubo had wanted back when these chapters were coming out, but had to cut a lot of his vision due to Jump forcing him to rush and finish the story up.
There was hella backlash back in the day over how the arc went from suspenseful and amazing, to feeling like it was all over the place and almost as if there was chunks of content missing. A thing that reached it crescendo at the part of the manga that these 2 episodes covered. From here on out, it was a ton of ass pulls and rushing. as well as entire plot points and info just being left out or only hinted at. Only for us to find out in the last 10 chapters that Kubo had been working on a deadline since basically the start of the 2nd invasion.
I think a lot of people who hated on Bleach for so long or only got into anime the last 3-4 years after Bleach had crash landed and burned, have no Idea what the Bleach fan base went through for a good 3 and a half years till we got the ending. It was a mess until we got the explanation of why it turned into a shitfest. And even then many of us still took issue with Jump for fucking the story over.

By making only one member of Squad 0 use their Bankai, Kubo actually avoided any progression to the fight that could make them come across as weak because Senjumaru will either be defeated by Yhwach, who is the final villain and therefore the strongest active character, by Uryu, who was hyped up by Yhwach himself as worthy of being his successor or the combined efforts of the entire Royal Guard and in all of the three cases it'll just show how much of a monster a single member o Squad 0 is without downplaying any of the other characters because even if they need a 4v1 to win, defeating a multiversal tier character isn't a small feat and I think this is genius
Edit: As for the question of wether Aizen would win against Squad 0... definitely not in his monster form BUT maybe that's why he never used his Bankai during the FKT Arc, maybe he was saving it for his fight against Squad 0 and that's something he could even explain during Cour 3 or 4

@@rexlapis1075 Jugram was killed by Shutara's Bankai so as far as the ones trapped inside it fighting back goes, it's either all of them getting back up on their feet because Quincy fuckery or Uryu doing something by himself, I don't think the Balance can do anything otherwise we would have to consider Gerard as well.
I also don't think Kubo wants them to lose so that's really the two possibilities, either they win as a group or Uryu shows them his power like Yhwach said he would, otherwise it'll probably come down to Yhwach saving them with the Almighty

Not only does this make Squad Zero look amazing but it also makes the Elite Sternritter look incredible too. The fact that it took a Bankai that shook the three worlds, and three Squad Zero sacrificing themselves, to defeat the six of them for the moment, is awesome.
Just a reminder because your statement may confuse people; 3 of them didn't sacrifice themselves so 1 of them can power up or use their combine strength. 3 of them sacrifice themselves so one of them can use their full power. They always were this powerful and its pretty clear that the Elite Sternritter would not stand a chance if all 4 of them can use their full power at the same time but that would mean the destruction of the 3 worlds if they were to do that. Hell, probably 2 of them using their full/true form would mean the destructions of the 3 worlds. That is bad ass.

They didn't have to kill themselves because the SS were strong. They killed themselves because 1.) It was necessary to break their limiters and 2.) Only 1 of them could use their full power while ensuring the safety of the multiverse.

Senjumaru is HOW YOU WRITE A GOOD FEMALE CHARACTER. First off her Design is amazing, she's looks like an Asian woman compared to basicly every other woman in Bleach, she's crazy powerful as we could clearly see, you really don't want to piss her off, BUT in her battle with Ishida you can see how smoothly and delicately she moves, when she crafts her umbrella, parries Ishida's attack and spins it she says "So gentle... Just like the spring rain." The reason i'm highliting this is because it's BEAUTIFUL. She has a taste for GOOD things, she's a Craftswoman as it's obvious and does BEAUTIFUL things. If you told me she Crafted Shunsui's Kimono i'd say that's a great touch connecting the 13 Court Guard Squads to the Zero Division in present time and i'd say it would be fitting because one it connects her ability to more than just fighting and 2 she's a Beautiful woman so it would make sense for Shunsui to flirt her.
So in the end you're writting and designing an older woman who is beautiful, graceful and powerful and part of that power is from her beauty and grace. To me this makes me feel like she's Human, and something that i personally love about Ichigo is exactly how so much more human Ichigo is compared to the vast majority of anime and manga MC's, so the fact that Senjumaru is also like that makes me elevate her and highlight her like this.
This anime adaptation is DIVINE. LET THEM COOK!

No matter the issues with the finale/this cour in general both production and animation wise, it truly has added a LOT of exclusive scenes from kubo and the team enhancing the story altogether, which is at the end of the day the most important thing. I hope pierrot and taguchi take their time with cour 3, fix their issues and give us great content again.

I’ve spoken about the production issues and how it sort of lets down the finale imo, but since I’ve spoken about that already with other people I’d rather talk about the changes. Because oh my god, it’s one thing for a little change or an extended fight but THIS? Is totally different, it’s insanely good, the lore, implications, and portrayal are INSAAAANE. It’s above and beyond just fixing the fight, it’s totally altered the story in a much better way than it was before
I feel her bankai put their demise onto the fabric of time, sealing their future fait. Not foreshadowing, but creating their future.
That's a great explanation. My explanation was that her Bankai could read the threads of their lives and kill them based on their weakness. Which means these are the only ways they could be put down ergo why the get defeated the same or similar ways later on. What do you think?
100 percent expecting their fates to be manipulated and that their deaths are guaranteed once the bankai goes off, I expect very different fates for two of the royal guard compared to the manga

As we get closer to the ending, where Kubo's health started declineing more and Jump rushed him more, I am 99% sure we'll get more changes and addittions. Cour 3 will have more changes.
I'm almost completely certain Ichigo will be the new Soul King. It was the path things were leading towards before his health went to hell.

Squad Zero got its moment in the sun and it was incredible. It's a far cry from the original manga.

Yeah, I'd love to have seen a peek at each 0 division bankai and more of their powers, but I'm ok with how this worked out. I also believe they are all equally as strong, but felt that Senjumaru probably has the most versatile bankai to deal with multiple opponents with different strengths. The others are probably sporting super strong bankai's, but may be something similar to a kenpachi/ichigo, where they are top tier bankais, but just not great matchups against them.
Thank you so much for your rant. "Fans"are a big reason why studios are afraid to make new original content because "fans" want what they want and won't ever be happy. This is even happening in America that's why every major studio is doing remakes. Maybe its lack of creativity, but fans are a part of the problem. We should enjoy these animated for what it is.
It's nice to see Squad Zero finally live up to their legend, because they definitely didn't in the manga. Now the claim of them being more powerful than the entire Gotei 13 actually feels true. Adored Senshumaru Shutara's design even as far back as her appearance in the manga and seeing her become the MVP of Squad Zero with such an amazing Bankai that shook three separate planes of existence was fantastically cathartic.
Ngl I don't know what Yhwach is gonna do now with Wahrwelth since he basically killed everyone down in the Wandenreich. There's no point in building a new castle if you have no soldiers to man it and no subjects to really rule over once the new world is created.
I mean if you are better than the entire army combined they don't really serve a purpose but I get the vision.

I think her bankai can't deal direct damage. The other 3 members sacrificed themself to make this possible. That means for the next attack on the soul king there are only two members left. My guess is that she weaved their defeat into their fate so they will be defeated but also creates new individuals that are strong enough to do that. I think she is what makes it even possible that the others defeat them later. By that she makes sure that there are strong shinigami that can replace them in the zero squad.

It has to be Ishida who defeats Senjumaru with his Antithesis. The chapter in the Manga when YH opens his eyes is named "A" which explains his Almighty powers. So it only makes sense that the same episode would at least hint at Ishida's power Antithesis which is also A. In the same scene, Hashwalth explains Almighty to Ishida, which requires him not to be defeated at that time. Ishida will likely reverse and flip everything Senjumaru did which ends up defeating her and undoing everything she did.

Senjumaru said her Zanpakuto's name earlier when she was fighting Gerard.. it was "Shigarami"
and to confirm that this was indeed the name of her Zanpakuto, the same word can be found within her Bankai's name, "Shatatsu Karagara *Shigarami* no Tsuji"
I like how beings of this level cannot simply release their full power without consequences. I always found it strange in shows like dragon ball super that someone who can destroy a multiverse could fight seriously on Earth without destroying everything.
One Bleach animator wrote that none of his work made it into the ep26, he really considers taking a break from Bleach 'cause of this - there were production issues and "bad animation" happens not 'cause animators are bad, but because they are not given enough time!

@@tobbakken2911 and what is sad is that this approach works in most other shows that make use of styalized animation like one piece. this is why wano fights have so many different art styles in its sakuga moments. taguchi does not use stylized animation in his approach to tybw and wants very on model drawings similar to what chainsawman does.

Bleach is like Game of Thrones. Could you image a turn back the pendulum all Quincy invasion anime, littered with fights with the original Shinigami. I’d pay to watch that and fully support it. Bleach is my all time favorite anime and I’m thankful to be watching it again.

Bleach was one of the ones that started on top, got laughed into memedom and has now returned as a POWERHOUSE of an anime. This has been such a fun series to watch since its return, especially since it hasn't been focused on Ichigo but letting the other characters and their powers TRULY shine. Here is to hoping season 3 blows everyone away.
I think there’s a possibility her Bankai actually wove their eventual fates in this moment and that was it’s true power. It would also leave open the possibility that she could have actually killed them but chose to do the least reality warping necessary to guarantee their downfall keeping to the idea that their power was far more dangerous than the current threat.
Loved your "rant" section. The additions they've made to the series are dramatically more valuable than the scenes they cut. I can only imagine how transformative the changes to the final chapters are going to be.

Marcus Aurelius, the philosopher emperor of ancient Rome. I highly suspect you are actually familiar with him, or at least the teachings of Stoicism in general. The way you talked about considering ourselves lucky on how good the anime turned out really fits their teachings. Yyup, having a critical mind and pushing for better is important. But showing gratitude to the hard fought victories and understanding how mind bogglingly against the odds was getting this far is the other end of the scale. There is no balance without both. Be humble yet determined, understand the world and what you do or do not have control over, push hard on the former and don't waste your valuable energy on the latter. Raging at the slightest inconvenience and harassing staff just weakens your character and increases the stress for everyone. Just like swinging a sword without aim or intent... you will get tired, you won't hit the target and you may accidentally end up injuring yourself or your comrades.
Patrick Bet-David of Valuetainment fame may not be as well known, but he is making some pretty big waves as a business guy and online educator. If I gotta say contemporary people who's work affected me the most... Kubo and Pat are my instant response. So I do not say his name lightly. But how you unpacked the restrictions of the studio and industry inner workings for everyday people, really pumped up the Pat fanboy in me. Chef's kiss.
One more addition on the pacing and episode restrictions. It's not just the number of episodes. But the number of episodes per season, or cour.
Even back in the day, an anime season is 12-14 episodes. And long running shows also have to adhere to that format even if we don't notice it mid-run.
And while I also think we are running at warp speed and would've preferred a 16-17 episode run for both seasons for perfect pacing, no broadcasting would run an episode length like that. Ok, a 5 cour long running instead of a 4 cour seasonal would roughly fit that pace and broadcast schedule too. But that means longer pre-production and/or worse quality... also higher front-up costs and profits to maintain it only starting to flow in later with the trunkated airing without the hiatus between cours. Does anyone think a production community would've greenlit that especially at the level we get Bleach now? I doubt it.
So 4 cour seasonal it is. That's what Taguchi had to cook with. And just as you talked about manga filler pages for optimal cliffhanger. Each cour has to be paced for not just the overall runtime, but to give that extra punch for the season finale.
And just as The Blade Is Me dropped, I understood and forgiven 99% of cut content. There is no war won without casualties... and the team thread the needly the best they could to deliver that massive W with the season finale. And now they did it again.
On Senjumaru and foreshadowing: I don't think she knows the future, but her bankai may sort of. Like it tailors their fate to their souls being intertwined with the threads of time so to speak. So the effects are not consciously picked by Senjumaru, but based on the victim's soul, it automatically delivers weaves some sort of poetic justice.

On Aizen: he would stomp even Squad Zero if he really WANTS to. And no amount of added content can change that. Now let me unpack that:
Kenpachi vs Gremmy is a lot like Aizen vs Ichigo and helped me a lot to see the depth there. Gremmy's Imaginary was so hax, it was hardly defeatable. And Gremmy did not lost because his ability was weaker than Kenpachi, but due to personality/character flaws that made him lose control over his ability. Also epic foreshadowing regarding Kenpachi's bankai.
Aizen with the Hougyoku fused into him is much the same. That's what Ichigo's line on Aizen deep down wanting to lose and feeling lonely ment. Aizen went past every barrier to reach his goal. And in the end he sacraficed his identity to reach it, and that hole in him collapsing made him lose.
Gin's betrayal going from theoretical to factual
Ichigo's unshakable resolve and transcended state beyond his power at the time
Urahara's prepwork and trap, and the whole Gotei 13 uniting against him.
In the end it all broke down his psyche, and the Hougyoku reacted to that.
So Aizen VS Squad Zero implies he got past Ichigo. That would require going from butterfly to a different evolution path than monster which leads to victory. And what mental state he would be upon getting to the royal realm? To put simply:
The Hougyoku IS me: Aizen steamrolls
The Hougyoku AND me: Aizen gets destroyed hard.
But there are infinite interesting scenarios on mind games and how he could fluctuate on the spectrum between the two, and where he would end. Have fun with that everyone!

I loved that kubo expanded on the zero division's fights and on their lore and im just absolutely happy that it was senjumaru who was chosen bc she was massively ignored in the manga and the anime kind of ignored her too up until now. Then seeing her bankai and then her spiritual pressure being felt all the way down to the world of the living where it was being felt by isshin snd ryuukin and shaking the skies. The only way it wouldve been even better is if they did show hueco mundo shaking too and showed nel and a silhouette of grimmjow looking up feeling it as well.
Probably they left already to meet kisuke that's why reaction hidden, in order not to spoil cour 3 big revelation.
Great video man! My first time tuning in and thank you for keeping it about core 2 and not spoiling to much bc I'm not a Manga reader. I don't follow the animators all the way up to the studios enough to know anything substantial but I remember telling my friends soon as core 2 ended that as great as it was there was something missing almost like the same effort wasn't put in this core as they did in core 1 and you explained it eloquently. Also I think it's casuals that think it's the animators or directors fault whenever there are lack luster eps when to me its always obviously been the bosses fault and whoever is above him more so whoever is above the boss of course. Always go for the head of the snake, I just wish whoever is truly in charge of these decisions to limit truly expanded there minds bc I think it'll be worth it in the long run for bleach if they actually went all out! But maybe that's just me talking as fan and not a anime businessman from Japan. Hopefully they notice that bleach was the greatest anime this summer and unleash the beast that we know bleach can be for these final 2 cores! Thanx again for this amazing 👏🏽 video.

My biggest issue was with the final battle and how hyped ichigos true bankai was for it to basically be an after thought.
Hopefully what we get is Kubos true vision for how it ends and not the rushed one.
Her Bankai is a reference to the Fates, which uses threads representing a persons life to weave a tapestry and in the end cuts the thread to seal their fate.

The only things you could say is that there isnt enough sakuga but you can say that about any anime Sakuga takes tons of time and Work and its way to hard doing that in less than 1 Year

Squad Zero went from Fraud Academy to PEAK University. Like god damn seriously? A bankai strong enough to make all 3 universes shake? You know this only makes me more hyped for Ichigo's bankai because I'm hoping to god it is this peak.

Given that cour 1 blu ray gave us an extra scene with Sternritter Q (seperated video), there is a possibility they might add an extra scene or so for cour 2 blu ray, etc.
I feel like the mangas version of this fight shows how rushed kubo while writing tybw
I don't mind the comedy and/or ecchi being removed and/or toned down. What I don't really like is a lot of important context being removed and a lot of things being sped through without giving time to breathe... I entirely get that they have limitations on episodes; I just wish they had a 5th Cour or 15-16 episode per Cour instead of 13.
However, I maintain that there are a few places where the wrong thing were emphasized that could have been redirected. The early episodes of Cour 2, for instance, had some really wonky pacing. Take Episode 2, where we speed through the major fights of Toshiro and Soi Fon. What do we focus on instead? Well, an extended scene of Omaeda talking to his sister, lingering on the confrontation between Kyoraku and Haschwalth despite nothing happening there, having the 12th Division members repeat themselves over and over at Askin.
However, my own gripes with the series aside, there's no point in getting mad any the people involved. There are too many things in play that no one person, or even one team, can do anything about.

there's this really good post by saturn_eclipse over on the bleach subreddit explaining more about Senjumaru's bankai: which lost some meaning after being translated to english. from the original kanji, it means ""Crossing into the Buddhist world(娑闥), only skeleton will remain at the end of time (迦羅骸). The sewing needle (刺絡) constructs the crossroads (辻) of life and death." her shikai sewed cloth and her bankai sewed destiny. in the animation you see 6 crossroads to 6 doors for all the remaining 6 members under the royal palace. each one now bound to their destiny as per their final death animations. i don't know the meanings of each death by the differnt elements as i never finished the manga and will just finish the story in 2024 when S3 comes out, but for those of you who do know the endings, it would probably mean something (one dying by fire, the other by ice and so on). i assume in S3 they all survive this but die again anyway according to how the bankai showed--by their bound destiny. go check out the original post. great read.

I think it’s important to take into account WHERE the bankai is being activated.
They are very close to the soul king - therefore any super powerful bankai would have an effect on all 3 worlds - since the soul king is nearby.
I’d imagine the same would happen if Yamomoto activated his bankai in the soul palace.
The sashes constraining Gerard could also be a call to Gleipnir which is the sash that bound Fenrir in norse mythology.

Fantastic breakdown man. Stellar job. Opened my eyes to some really beautiful storytelling I would not otherwise have caught.
So its pretty clear now that if the four zero squad members were allowed to use their full power, the elite Sternritters would not stand a chance. The only reason they cant is because it would mean the destruction of the 3 worlds. Am I getting that right? I mean, these guys gave them all they can handle without releasing their zanpakuto. That is a pretty badass way to rewrite the wrong on how they were handled in the manga. I am pretty sure that the one who defeats that last squad zero member is Uryu so we understand why he was chosen as Yhwach successor but I highly doubt he would of stood a chance if all 4 members would of been allowed to use their true form.
Edit: they didnt even release their Shikai now that I am thinking about it, or do I have that wrong? Maybe they were already fighting with that form.
Kirinji used his Shikai a couple times, his "Kinpika" that blade of light he has but other than that I think they only used their sealed swords

It was not Haschwalth who caused good fortune for Yhwach to escape womb. Even he himself(Haschwalth) was surprised. It was Uryu's Antithesis switching between two objects whether object is living or non living.

Hi flame of rebirth. i want to say thank you for quality videos on bleach. I finally subscribed today and the tipping point was you carefully explaining to the bozos(some group of bleach fans) why certain things had to happen i.e. staff issues, some low quality episodes and exclusion of some ecchi/comedic fillers. it pisses me off when people don't actually examine the possible reasons why certain things happen before making a judgement or passing a comment of ignorance.
And with all the restrictions, the staff at hand did their utmost best with the limited resources at hand. Bleach is my fav anime of all time. I do like jjk but it has lotta issues but since it has a studio like mappa working on it, they eclipsed the flaws with spectacular visuals. Hence the newbies think jjk and demon slayer amongst a few are better.
I hope as you said later in the video, due to the justice Kubo has done to squad zero, we hope to see more justice like, ichigo's bankai, ryoken and ishin involvement, Aizen extended participation in the fight, etc

I hope they do something similar with ichigo’s bankai at the end, so that we actually can understand his power at the end of the series.
Yeah I feel like the four just can't do anything about Aizen's immortality(maybe this could change depending on how Shutara's bankai actually works) but I really just don't think Aizen stands a chance against Ichibe, like I really can't think of anything Aizen can do to Ichibe, like the only reason Yhwach won is because of The Almighty being able to restore his own name and powers but once Aizen gets hit with Ichimonji it's all over

I did the math. The part one of TYBW was about 63 chapters adapted, part two was like around 66 chapters, which the second half of chapter 609 where if you read the managa you know is most likely where part 3 will pick back up. Which leaves roughly 77 chapters left of the serious. Thats including chapter 609 cuz like 7 pages of that chapter are left to be animated.
Throughout the whole video most of I could repeatedly say was "YES" :'D
The greatest thing to BLEACH is that Kubo really makes a point of the belief of "Duty" and "Principles" in all stages of life. There are so many examples of this throughout the story of BLEACH but the final ep of Cour 2 just really hammers that in. It is going to be so interesting on how Kubo will apply this to Ichigo in Hell Arc.
BTW, Lil Barro got such OP ability that can confuse so many. I love that ability so much.
