Warning!
Within 4 months of light use my FANATEC McLaren wheel cracked at the shifter pivot point and where it mounted to the QR. I was accused of over tightening although I used a torque wrench set at 3nm.
FANATEC then replaced the wheel chassis admitting in writing it was a weakness in the wheel.
Very soon after my CSL load cell pedal failed. I sent a video before sending the pedal set back as requested.
I was required to make a follow up email after not hearing back.
FANATEC said they can not fault the pedals asking if I want then sent back which I found a strange thing to ask?
Eventually they were returned however within minutes I experienced the same issue which was consistent with magnetic interference from the CSL DD wheel base before the load cell pedal would completely shut down.
I was beyond my limits at this point and driven to warn as many potential customers as I could while demanding a replacement.
Following the usual delayed response, FANATEC then offered a replacement only if a show proof that they faulty load cell was again on its way back to them.
FANATEC’s poor response time drove me to desperation.
Keep in mind I have owned this new product for around 6 months when 2 major failures occurred.
An electric technician overheard my experience and offered assistance.
I was able to demonstrate the issue and within minutes the technician diagnosed a defective voltage regulator attached to the load cell circuit board.
The voltage regulator is designed to reduce 5 volts coming from the wheel base or USB down to the required 3.3volts. There was no signal out of the regulator which he replaced.
No thanks to FANATEC I am now enjoying my sim racing again while I hold my breath for the next FANATEC failure.
Please take my advise and look at the FANATEC’s own forum in regards to all the issues they have and their terrible customer service.

I loved the in-depth tutorial on the set up. You made it look so easy by being so systematic.
Don't forget that the wheel version you have is 300 euro, and not 200. Because the normal mclaren wheel comes with plastic quickrelease. The metal one costs another 99 euro.

Wow this certainly looks like a top quality setup. From the pedals the to the steering and shifter mechanisms, it super high tech with the latest features and best functionality. like 229
Actually you'd do much better with the CSL Elite V2 pedals, yes they are more money, at around £300. What you get for the extra £££ tho' is one of the best brake pedals that's available at up to a £1000. The McLaren wheel is probably the best bang for your buck from Fanatec's range although the WRC is the lightest and therefore is the most responsive. Any wheelbase should be mounted as rigidly as possible, any movement robs details from the FFB. Get the booster power pack, you can always turn it down but you'll benefit from the increase in dynamic range.
What size screws do I need for wheel base and stick shift? If it doesn’t come with any.

Question: how can you reach for the shift-number on your wheel-display, under the XBOX?? for me it's not working. i have also xbox series x and fanatec DD CSL/wheel, but there is nothing any number on the little oled display, in the forza horizon (example).. :( Thanks for your answer!

My desk has a metal framing fairly close to the table underside edge. Would the clamp go over the frame or try to clap onto bare minimal table. Otherwise I'll just get a rig

I have a problem with my fanatec dd, the base and the pedals I reconnected them without problem, but I insert the maclaren gt3 v2 ring and it does not reconnect me as said wheel recognizes it as an xbox one wheel and no button works, I have everything updated to the latest version, and the base is in pc mode (red light) it is a problem that the hoop is defective
just a question ive seen in most videos the unit tends to wobble especially when turning hard would that have any negative effect on last ability over time.

When I turn on the base I hear static noise in my headset and sometimes goes to earrape and stops. Also my mic earrapes and now I cant drive and talk to people how can I fix this?

Check on your PC and do a firmware update.

OMG! Thank you for showing this! As a first timer intrested in building his own rig, you answered alot of my questions. You are the first RUclipsr that actually explain everything to detail and do not need a table clamp for racing rig. Fanatac shifter is very expensive and thinking of going to cheaper option like Logitec and I don't like that the reverse is on the left side - does it have a button to push so you don't accidently reverse like a real car? Another question, if I buy a racing rig like yours, are the shifter location only right hand drive? because I want it as left hand drive.
Thanks, yes with the shifter you have to push down for it to go into reverse. Most rigs are flexible and allow you to switch sides for the shifter.

The connections page for the CSL Elite V2 is so confusing. In red it exclaims what you shoud not do. Then in blue it does exactly that!

Just ordered CSL DD, CSL Elite Wheel, and Clubsport V3 Pedels... from my research having a great set of pedals was one thing that will improve lap times.. playing on Xbox Series X.. going straight from a controller to this set up not even trying the G920 set up..

I would assume just the wheel base. The DSL DD has the plug in slots on the back labeled peddle shifter ect.. 👍👍

Not really, the standard one should be fine.

Hey matey great that your loving the wheel unfortunately you will need a thing called a drive hub to use another shifter unless you are on pc so i would suggest if u are on pc buying a shh shifter if on console u need a drive hub. Have fun mate and have a good day

This seat is reported to have alot of seat flex and some wheel stand flex. Seems optimized for a G923 level setup, and this is a huge ugprade from that. Did you experience alot of seat flex and wheel base flex when using the system?
Hey mate I have a question do you really need to instal the firmware and do the settings with and calibration and that stuff and how does it come that sometimes the little screen in the middle doesn’t work ? Because I ordered my wheel and I wanna know all this stuf so I can fix it if it doesn’t work or I really need to do the firmware ?
Yeah definitely worth doing a firmware update as there maybe bug fixes. The little screen allows you to manually make adjustments without a pc

This maybe daft to ask, but I’m really wanting to get into sim racing. But no equipment, so starting from scratch. I’d love to start with DD instead of getting a G923 for ps5. But what would be the best way to begin? Would trying to find 2nd hand items individually, be best? Or looking for them as a bundle? And by the looks of it 2nd hand items are just as expensive, so would getting brand new items be best as, well it’s brand new? What would you advise? Or as I’m a beginner, would a Logitech G923 be best?
You probably won't be able to pick up the fanatec wheel cheaply second hand. Buying the bundle is the best option. Logitech G923 is a good budget wheel but Fanatec gives the best experience. Hope that helps

I thought you diddnt need a quick release adapter when you get the Mclaren wheel? Are you saying i cant use the mclaren wheel on the CSL dd without purchasing the optional quick release adapter?
There are 2 quick release adapters, one of them is plastic and you can get that for free and the one showed cost money as it metal and a solid build.

Yes it seems like it but there is a free plastic version you can get too
