I do like the knurling on those. They're interesting. I've been looking at the Koken ones that also have an internal clip to hold the socket, but they're around $20 a piece when they're not discounted. I need to get an 18mm for my Honda Rubicon. I'm grateful that you try stuff out before making a review video so that you can give us a more honest and comprehensive review. Thank you, sir.
Great looking set of sockets Jeff! I like the knurling. As I've aged the old eyesight isn't what it used to be and the large laser etched sizes are appreciated. I also like the fact that these sockets are roll stamped as well. The red socket rail is a nice touch. I've been thinking of upgrading to magnetic spark plug sockets as the insert in my old Craftsman 5/8 socket doesn't grip and hold the plugs anymore. Most of today's overhead cam engines now have deeply recessed spark plugs and the magnetic plug sockets are necessary. You had to break in the old rubber insert sockets. I remember the extension pulling out of the socket as the socket was stuck to the plug when servicing 16V 2.0 SAAB engines. Locking extensions weren't available back then. You'd have to fish out the plug with long needle nose pliers. 🤣🤣
Hi lieser, yea these are nice for what you pay, will come in handy!!oh yea i had to fish out some spark plugs that fall inside the spark plug well found in todays engines!!! thanks lieser!!
Just found this channel. Love it. Building my collection now. And my son is going to be a new tech. Going to start his set. I don't want him to be in debt with the tool truck. Great information to help me out
I'm the first person to complain when something goes wrong but I give credit where credit is due. I haven't used these yet but the quality shows and their shipping needs an A+ with a couple more +'s. VERY fast shipping and seems to be a quality product. At least in my case, they had them here quicker than I could go to the parts store and raise the hood on my Vette, OK not really but definitely faster the spirit moved me to change my plugs.
I've never had magnetic ones. Probably need to try them. I'm a fan of knurling on about everything, especially spark plug sockets. Thanks for the video.
They look like a really nice set of Magnetic Spark Plug sockets. Having metric and SAE sizes is nice. Also having the sizes stamped and laser etched and knurling is great. Must of had a tech help design them and choose the sizing range. Really nice socket rail too. Thanks again Jeff and thanks Crom tools👍
I wish all companies would come out with the sizes on the side like this, the rail is very nice, and the knurling is a very nice touch. Knurling is nice when your hands are slipping with grease and need to start that last bolt.
CROM IS IN THE HOUSE. , Great review , They look awesome, Puting them on my wish list , Those are going be very useful when used with your locking extensions. THANKS JEFF
Nice, just did the spark plugs on 2016 Camry and your statement about the rubber boot starting to rip holds true. May be time for this set. Thanks for what you do.
Need them? No Ordered them as an upgrade due to your discount, yes. Listen up companies, we watch this stuff at Jeff's and sometimes buy them. Thanks for the discount.
I have the ARES set that looks almost exactly like these. Very nice set. I believe the knurling non the CROM may be a little better. Love the magnetic spark plug sockets. Thanks for another great vid. I bought the sockets from this company in your other video. Very happy with them also. Time will tell.
Both the flex sockets and these spark plug sockets are very similar to the VIM offerings; so too the crowsfoot ...except that the VIM is available at a premium price. I bought the flex sockets last time; quality appears good, use will tell.
I have some USA made Craftsman spark plug sockets (various vintages) and some Chinese made ones as well. For some reason, those sockets are often missing from mechanics' tool sets when you buy them from people. I don't know what happens to them. Do people eat them? Also, how does one lose a rolling toolbox drawer? What can you possibly do with it? LOL. I'd prefer the rubber insert like the older ones, but on the newer Craftsman units made in China, the inserts sometimes come out of place in the socket. Yup, some of those aftermarket parts don't always work correctly. Hit or miss. Some are good, some as you found, not so good. Yes, "G" means "Gastonia" (North Carolina) where Moore Drop Forge/Easco/Danaher/Apex had a plant. That plant operated from 1978-2010. "VV" usually meant it was made in the Springdale, AR plant and "V" was usually Springfield, MA.
Hello again, Jeff Thank you for another Great Video 👍 I enjoyed watching tonight's video. Question for you about the sockets. As your using the sockets. About collecting metal trash after use. Is possible to remove the trash metal. From the sockets? Again thank you 👌
Hi george thats a great question!! the best tip i can give you is used compressed air to clean around the plug before removing!!! it stops depri from getting in your cylinder and removes any loose rust around the end of the plug!!
The quality on these looks outstanding. I checked out their website and saw they also have no-skip flex socket sets. I'm curious as to how strong they are. I was eyeballing the 3/8 metric set.
5:30.. those are the plugs I run in my 500hp Chevy Ecotec 4 cylinder(Saturn Sky) Jeff... Seriously, NGK 4644 BKR7E...inexpensive and effective..they're great 🏁..the high hp Dodge Neon's with the SRT4 run em too That's a serious magnet Jeffery 🧲
