I’m an American, and I was there. Although disappointing in the moment, I respect how much Europe cares about this competition. Plus Kaymer seems like a genuinely good guy. Hope he gets back in the winner’s circle soon.
Every once in a while I come here to watch this again. Maybe the best sport event I ever watched. In 2012 I watched in together with my mum on the TV but live. Even she was very excited although she isn´t into golf.
Very generous and thoughtful. His comments about everyone involved and delivering the result are very professional. How he kept so calm with that final putt defeats me. I get nerves when the green keeper's watching.
German attention to detail.." I think it was 11.27 on the clock". Brilliant. What a part he played, the end game. Love tjis player. Ran away with the 2014 US OPEN. Not many players run away with a US OPEN.
What a guy - humble, pleasant, thankful. I'm rooting for Team Europe to win this one today - even though as a german, it just doesn't feel the same without Martin...Go Blue!
The pressure on this team to win must have been simply tremendous Add to the normal expectations ( playing for Europe, their Captain Olly, the assistant captains and playing for each other ) their desperation to honour the memory of Seve Such bravery from all of them Well done Martin Kaymer - glad you got the chance to be a Ryder Cup legend
Kaymer was extremely close to not playing in that Ryder Cup, he'd been in dismal form leading up to the matches. But Olly convinced him that he could play a big part and in the end, he played the biggest of all.
Perfect guy for that last putt not an overthinker and excited to have the opportunity to make it. Alot of people would be scared to have that opportunity. I won the Junior A Club Champs at my club 2 years ago and my hands were shaking when putting the last 3 holes and thats just an amatuer club champs and not even the top division I do love the pressure tho its fun. But if my hands were shaking for that I can't even imagine what clutch putting is like at this level . . . But something tells me Martins hands werent shaking at all . . . Too calm.
It's funny how golfworks. Shortly after this Kymer started trying to develop a draw and almost completely lost his game. He basically had a very technically sound fade swing but for some reason wasn't happy with it started tinkering with his mechanics. It's a fine line on golf between "if it ain't broke don't try to fix it" and Improvement in progress. Very slippery slope
Martin Kaymer is such a class act! The way he decribes it and what he hast to say about Steve Stricker. Hope he finds his old form again.
And how can you not like Martin Kaymer.......a real class act!
Germany wins

Martin Kaymer! You are a machine! His calmness under pressure is extraordinary

What a lovely charming man. A credit to the team, and so calm.
