Excellent, more Keane. His voice is incredible. Seen him doing Queen covers live, not many have the range for that!

I will be 55 years of age this month and can with my honesty say that the "Hopes and fears"-album is the best album I have heard in this period of time. So unique, with Tom Chaplin´s voice - the music and the overall feel of the songs! One of a kind, although a lot of music spins from the same crib. Thanks for listening to these guys, sir!

Ah so much sonic goodness and vocal joy. You're going to enjoy this album so much.

The members of Keane are, like Coldplay, big a-ha fans Matt, did you know that? In Tom Chaplin they have a quality vocalist with a range similar to Morten’s, at least at the higher end of the scale, and yes like Morten he is THE vocalist for the group.

Tom Chaplin has a voice of an angel, no lie. So effortless

This song resonates very strongly with me. It's a great f you song to those toxic folk we meet in our lives, particularly of the romantic kind. I play this song a lot when I'm feeling angry, it's a great release.

Hey man, to answer your question.... Tom Chaplin is the only singer on all Keane songs. I really hope you do the entire deep dive because their sound really expands and gets more interesting on each album. They even venture into synth pop!!

I haven't heard Keane for almost 20 years 😱 (I think I said that before) and I wouldn't be able to name my favourite songs by heart, but I have a feeling this is probably my favourite. Great pop song, very well crafted, and showing off his voice in all its amazing range, reminding me very much again of Morten in a-ha. 😉 He just "takes wings" in the chorus, like in many typically a-ha songs, written especially to make Morten's voice take off and soar. The way the chord progression goes higher and higher serves that purpose too and makes the song a particularly exciting one, as well as the fast pace. I enjoyed all the songs on this album back then, but maybe this one more than any other. 😉
Also, this album and song belong to a very particular time in my life, and though I (as always) didn't try to make sense of the lyrics I have sung it quite earnestly - the "this is the last time" part. 😁 A difficult breakup story. We always say it's "the last time" several times until at last it is (and most of the times we don't even know it will be the last at last 🤪).
And here's a fun fact: when you mentioned the two different editions of the album I realised I have both (and went to the CD cupboard to check). Suddenly I remembered I bought the "normal" edition as a birthday present to my boyfriend at the time, and a month later (ah, yes, in August 2005 - so, exactly 18 years ago!) I found the special edition in Canterbury, where I was doing a summer course, and bought it for me. As it happened, my ex-boyfriend left his CD at my place when we broke up, so I ended up keeping both of them. 🙄😛 I really meant to give it back to him some day, but it's been 18 years... 😅😂

Keane is one of the many bands inspired by a-ha and Morten in particular.
In the high singing passages this song reminds me a lot of the song " Scared Of Heights" from Morten's solo album "Out Of My Hands"

@@ElanurMH I know. 😉 But I don't like "Scared Of Heights" at all. 😝😁 So my mind goes to "Foot Of The Mountain" when I hear this one by Keane. I am sure I could think of a lot of others by a-ha, but that was the one I thought of.

Also interesting note about this one is that the title is not in the chorus as usual.... It's the first line of the verses!

You said about my latest lucky dip batch being about looking for hope and being uplifting... basically you get alot with Keane a similar sense, but not necessarily in the lyrics but in Tom Chaplin's voice ... it just SOARS

Great songwriting across the album, so even with the stripped back (inventive), limited use of instruments the song still hits the mark.

Great start to the album, but it gets better ! Remember, no guitars just vocals, drums and keyboards , essentially.
