    As someone who also had INFJ as a result and software engineer for years I recommend you learn one thing at a time and stick to it. Keep your curiosity at bay and struggle through until you reach a set goal. Set yourself deadlines: "Done is better than perfect" someone wise once said, otherwise you will lose yourself in the details.

    Yes, I agree. College is like a trap for infj here, following the slide and instructions is not for us. I wish I could realize it early. Self-study is good for us and just pay online learning, we have time to relax and don't stuck with the mountain of assignments. Another thing is subject in college is too broad sometimes, it's just not compatible for Ni dom. It even sucks if we meet some lecturer that is not good at explaining. That is something I want to share with young infj that prepares themselves for University. From me who is infj that can't turn back time, feel regret.

      Did u go to college? I am currently going to a private college for BTech in cs. Obviously, I will have to self-teach myself but my parents think it will be safe to have a degree, any ideas? -INFJ

      @@baaqarnaqi4801Degree is important too if you want to pursue a master's or PhD in the future. I think you should enter that class, observe the class and find out if you are compatible with that class or not. Do you understand the lecture the lecturer teaching you or not? Sometimes you can have a lecturer that is good at explaining the lessons or they have a good technique in teaching. The case you feel uncomfortable with the class you should skip that class and try to study by yourself or find a private class that focuses more specifically on that subject, that you feel you are bad at. I don't know but I heard that some professors will allow some students to come only when exam day. I think you should discuss it with them to know more. It is good if you can find a place where you can practice what you have been learning like doing, internships, pand art-time jobs related to your field. Practice is important for infj. It can help you build confidence and have an experience that some companies need in the future. Sometimes they need more experience than a degree. It is also good if you try to get a lot of certificates besides a degree. It is difficult if you graduate with just one paper degree. It is good if you have what I have said above degree, certificate outside college, and experience. I can say that working makes you more mature and balance yourself. Don't spend too much time on your own, I know we are introverts but come out a bit more, and try to connect yourself with the outside world more. You need to come out and observe the world, get more information about people, and collect Se(function) data. If you find out you are in Ni-Ti loop, get out of your room, be in nature, walking in the park, talking with close friends. If you feel you are uncomfortable or feel that you are choosing the wrong major don't try to continue it till the end, change your major as soon as possible. Don't waste time with major you are not good at. It is good if you know your learning styles and manage your schedule well. I wish, it can help you.

      College is the place that can help me more confidence, and embrace something that challenges me. I can be a bit more extroverted. It is ok if you hate group assignments or something because me too. Try to look more on the positive side of it. Some students go to college just to get attendants even though they can't get the lesson, Don't do that, don't waste your 2-3 to sit there just to get attendants. If you have a senior, it is good, to try to get information from them. Asking them about information about the exam they been through with that lecture, information about lecture, The book that they have studied in that major(try to read through briefly all of that book and measure it with your ability).

    “As an INFJ” who self studies programming, I recommend taking Pluralsight courses. You can sign up to an azure essential account and it gives you 1 month of free courses. Most of thing that you would want are available there and courses are really good. Besides that do a lot of youtube searches about different topics. And actively practice things that you learned. You can try to solve coding problems in websites like codewars to improve your programming thinking and compare your answers with others to also learn from them and pick a project to practice real-world programming problems. Do these and you’ll learn programming real quick.

    Initially when I started data science at a university, I felt so lost because the degree wasn't aligned with my future goals. I had other end goals in mind and lost a lot of motivation to practice coding. Now, however, I realise that infjs indeed benefit A LOT from practicing, and I need to convince myself that it's not the degree that matters - it's the skills and amount of practice that can gradually become my source of confidence. This video is very timely indeed! Thank you so much!

    This was really useful. When I was younger I decided to study Multimedia Design in university (It's like advertising oriented design) and ended up hating it after graduating. Lucky for me, one part of the program was intro to programming and web development, and that got me hooked.
    It's like you say, things like making music or designing are often unclear about what is it that's wrong or why it doesn't look good, while programming is logic based and clear to understand if you think it through. Makes much more sense to me.

    • @ioanna4227
      @ioanna4227 Год назад +1

      I know this comment is old, but what is your experience as an INFJ software programmer? I'm currently in adv and also hate it because of the nuances (it's hard to know what makes an ad "good" to higher-ups when it's mostly subjective until it hits the market). I've always wanted a skill-based career that is straightforward in what is correct or incorrect. Anyway, let me know your exp!

    • @Imhest
      @Imhest Год назад +1

      @@ioanna4227 Hey! I'm sorry to hear you are not liking the career you chose. I can certainly relate to that feeling you mention. Design and advertising can be extremely ambiguous on what you have to do.
      As to my experience, I've been in about 4 full time positions related to programming by now and I think I've identified what makes a job worthwhile and rewarding to me. Let me also preface this by saying that I'm diagnosed with mild ADHD so that may have influenced what I went through.
      I like focusing on a problem and finding a solution. Programming feels really satisfying because it rewards creativity and lateral thinking in a way I did not feel other professions did. Every challenge is like a puzzle with a certain amount of correct answers, and you just logic your way into a solution. It rewards curiosity and investigation, and the code provides instant feedback to your inputs, so you know if you did something wrong instantly.
      I'm not gonna say everything is always super clear cut what's right or wrong. Some problems are just hard and there isn't a right answer. But you can always describe what the problem is and someone has surely gone through it. How the hell do I google why my design looks bad? Know what I mean?
      Another thing is that I need to feel like my work is valued and I'm doing things for a reason that resonates with me. My first 2 programming jobs were awful, formulaic code monkey jobs, where the only result of your work was your boss getting richer or more work, and that feels awful to me. I need to feel like I'm part of a team that values my work and helps me grow, and in return they get an extremely loyal and earnest INFJ. I guess I'm trying to say that I hate when a job or something feels "shallow".
      Anyway, I'm super sorry for the extremely long reply but I found no way to make what I wanted so say shorter 😅 Programming feels way more straightforward than my previous field for sure.
      Let me know if you have any other specific questions and I'll do my best to answer them 👍

    Been learning and practising javascript from home for a while now as an INTJ, using RUclips vids. Dont plan on going in that direction as a career as it doesnt align with my life goals, but I started learning it anyway as it could be useful, it's a nice backup plan and it's somewhat enjoyable.
    Im pretty damn new to this but still so far Ive practised by somewhat recreating a basic version of the udja app on my own (came up with ideas on how to do things and Used Te parent to research how to execute said ideas) and by creating my own little game. Practise really is important. Helps me remember all the ways to use html tags and all the css properties, and helps me to actually understand the javascript I'm writing more than just researching the theory.
    I cant wait to start dabbling in react and react native especially.

    After figuring out that I'm an INFJ, I always regretted for not choosing Computer Science as a Major. The university that I got into was the best one in the country for Computer Science, but I doubted my abilities and chose Civil Engineering instead. Also, I took two computer courses during undergrad, and scored the highest in a class of 64 students. So my regret level is ten-fold now.... Wish I could turn back time. 😔

    I did that kind of journey throughout my career and I noticed Infjs , although tend to be all over the place, do better in development than in DevOps and server/network operations . Especially high level programming that can be more abstract with patterns etc. The ISTPs and the INTPs will outwork you but they can't out-abstract you. One INFJ co-worker is a software architect where someone else does the development, which also is a bit more abstract.

    Learning devops and infrastructure is not necessary, unix also not. You can code on windows as well so no point there.
    This advice is clearly for someone who would like to get into IT, not software development or programming.

Fully got argumentation still pases through what You communicate, Youre okay, but its not only what id been used to, its the quick talking that confuses me without just as quick transcript?! about programming: central projection, rotation around y axis, z layer hiding, a bit scaling down the far awayer from the screen, thats the Doom of these hacks, the enemy sprites of this bizarre horrorpiece still changed from the view angle, very few animation phases, not even full gif file structure reading in the wad files?! Total Eclipse could handle much better by texture drawing with line centrally projection run length encoding, than the 93 texture sloppiness, but here You have a maybe better idea: have a huge library of little tiles, the C64 is just plotting scaled sprites of them selectedly matchedly from a 3D model like Star Rider behind with the most quantized spehere physics, someone skilled with an eye for graphic design imeant to be able to find a design even with a spot on reduced shading and reflction from small-tile-selection put together not even blurred maybe precisely and differentiated for well playable _game_, sprites the C6 can fill, and 10fps constantly with no delay with other stuff look fluent, constantly, can You find another standard device than TV that needed 50 or 60hz?! C64 itself could only render maybe 30x30 3D that fluently?!use these still few techniques and especially more often tricks with big care then again, use it never with security relevance?!
