After sitting two years mine wouldn't idle and was about to take the carb off to clean it. I seen this and gave it a shot. I was skeptical but, it worked.
@@ZACKERLEE I ran it just slightly above idle where it would stay running for about a half hour. Mine would idle for a short time and die, if yours won't idle at all then you don't have much choice but to clean the carb. @@gearbanger57 awesome thanks for the reply. I’m so ready to get on the water but I’m a little scared to mess something up cleaning the carb myself. It will idle 15 seconds and die
@@ZACKERLEE That's what mine was doing. Can you get it off idle and rev it up? Sea Foam will clean a gummed up carb but, if there's debris in the idle passage not much else you can do but clean the carb.
Run Marine Pro at the recommended 2 ounces per gallon in your take at WOT most of the time until your refuel. After that do the 1 ounce per gallon maintenance rate. Happy New Year!
I use Seafoam on all my engines, diesel to 2 stroke. Keeps the "varnish" out of the fuel system when it is not being used and clean when running. Great tip on mixing on an engine wit the oil mix at/by the engine! My Mercury runs rough, smokes at slow speed and oil on plugs. I shall use good oil and pre mix my own fuel. I do know how to remove the oil mix mechanism but pre mix is a good way to check B/4 removing. Thanks! Good video, makes me think again! :-)
Hey i got a question I got a 85 it works great out of the water on muffs but in the water it’s like it doesn’t go in to gear it does out of the water In the water it won’t acelarate
Well in the water is a lot more pressure versus muff. So you may need to check the compression. And run seafoam in the motor see if those things help first.
I ran seafoam in my outboard yesterday , before it kept bogging down and wanting to stall . I ran it for 30 minutes and now it sounds great. I’m gonna do it a few more times just to do a through flush ..:
@@HoldemHookTV I have a 15 gallon tank in my 13 whaler and wondering if every time I fill up should I run some more in the tank. Not every fill up but maybe every other fill up
Great video. Thanks for the info. I’m about to do the same procedure on my motor. Seems to help. I don’t typically belive in “snake oil” fixed but this sea foam product appears to be legit.
I'd be worried about getting crap built up in the jets. The varnish etc has to go somewhere. Also...I've been running a 1990 yammy 175hp for 32 years with the oil tank. Never a hiccup.
do you have a 2 cycle or a 4 stroke a little oil is expected on a 2 cycle but it could be a sign that you are running a little rich so open you air mix screw a little do a hot run shut down your engine without idling pull the plugs and have a look if still oily open your air mix screw a little more. if your engine sputters when your opening your air mix then you are leaning to far out close it up. also check and see if your fuel oil mix is correct. if you run heavy on your oil you will blow smoke and your plugs will be oil fouled
Hello Sir....I watched your video and I wanted you to know that I have a 1989 Cobra Bayliner with a 125 HP Force Engine. I made a mistake and did not winterize it because I thought it would be ok since I had it in my garage. Well, it wasn't. I made an appointment with my local boat mechanic and waited three weeks for him to get it in to look at it. Finally when I he was ready to work on it I took it to him and three weeks go by and nothing. I call him and he tells me he has not looked at it yet because he has been so busy. I am thinking what the hell? The whole reason I waited three weeks was because of him being busy with other boats. So I went and brought it home....saw your video and I did it myself. Results????? Perfect, she was really dirty in fact my neighbors thought my house caught fire that is how smoky it was. Now she starts right up and purrs like a kitten. Thank you.
Well I’m glad it help you do that at least once a year and they also have the marine grade seafoam you can use daily by adding a little to your fuel I appreciate the comment and support hope your a subscriber and I’m glad you got your boat run good that’s y I do this not just for me but to help other ppl 🎣good luck on your fishing adventures
i use seafoam in every tank of fuel in al my engines and do a shock like this with all new to me engines that i purchase in is a good fuel stabilizer for winter in boats and works for summer in snowmobiles and snow blowers. sea foam is great stuff
It can damage the reed's but for the most part it'll be ok. Sea foam is a great product for removing carbon build up. I also use it as a fuel treatment by adding one ounce to every other gallon thatll prevent future problems.
Good deal mike. It worked for me also. My 115 evinrude smoked like it had a bad habit too. Cleaned it good but i did have some oil in the prop shaft afterwards. Did you? After that no more probs. Thanks dude
@@HoldemHookTV could be the seal on the shaft. Didnt investigate it as the cold weather rolled in early this year but all seems well. I will update you in spring 2022.
I just did a shock seafoam treatment on my evinrude 15hp. Worked great, but I also had some tan colored sludge in my prop afterwards. I was concerned at first, but I'm thinking its just from the seafoam treatment. Haven't drained gear oil yet.
also, in theory, couldnt one just take it to the water armed with the concentrated seafoam jug and heat cycle it like that??? could being under load help?...or hurt? hm
A few comments. If maintenance, no harm. If you have low idle, wide open throttle or starting problems - I hate to break it to you but you need to run down the list: Fuel Spark Air Don't bother with air unless there's a birds nest in your carb. Just remove the carbs an clean em my guy. Get a carb kit with some new seats an your carbs won’t drain 👍🏻.. sea foam is good to run but 9 times out of 10 won’t fix a problem.
Exactly. My 2014 9.9 Yamaha 4 stroke went from running poorly to barely starting and only running above 1200 rpm. I pulled the carb (which was not tightened properly) and removed the float bowl drain plug. I drained out about 1/16” of a teaspoon of grit! Upon further inspection I found the low speed jet was completely clogged and the high speed jets transverse holes were clogged as well. The choke was frozen in the open position. It took me about an hour to clean everything up and reassemble. Most of the time was spent freeing up the choke and cleaning the gaskets. The engine now starts with 0 cranking time. Just “click” and it is running smooth. No chemical treatment would have helped my motor and start to finish my repair cost me 1-1/2 cans of carb cleaner and about 1-1/2 hours of time.
Yamaha system is just fine if you maintained it one of the most reliable I’ve deleted the ones off used Yamahas I’ve bought though Definitely remove on all OMC
Soooo i know this video is old....That motor is NOT firing on all 3 cylinders 💯. It POSITIVELY has a dead cylinder....It needs more than carbs and carbon deposits cleaned .
I want to do this but my neighbors would freak out😂 I'm going to run some in my fuel tank at the lake. You should never ever race your engine up with just Waters muffs. Better of with a barrel or a lake.
You can also add the seafoam directly to your tank..... It definitely helps on minor fuel system cleaning.....
Thanks SK I appreciate the info and support my friend
