    Pretty sure the short to ground is the least of their worries. They have a Jatco CVT in that thing.

      It was warranty replaced last year.

      It’ll continue to be warranty replaced until the warranty no longer covers it.

      @@RadDadisRad I have an 09 maxima with 110,000 miles on it. CVT runs fine. Maintain it, it'll last. Don't get me wrong, I don't care for it but they're not all crap

      I had a customer who had their CVT go into limp mode and was starting to whine.. It was out of warranty and they didn't have the money to replace it. The issue was only popping up when they were stuck in traffic and the trans would get hot. I suggested adding an external cooler and another pint of fluid. Whining stopped, limp mode issue went away and they're still driving it 3 years later.@@grady.stu.8300

    Rather you than me my advice to customer is to go trade in for a Subaru or Toyota if they like Japanese manufacture

    I could be wrong, but most of the time when I see Nissan alternators being replaced, they usually remove the compressor (without disconnecting the lines) and put it off to the side.

      Are you purchasing new or remanufactured. The rebuilt ones seems to not last long, and a lot of time the harness needs to be replaced as well. Also upgrade the battery to the highest cca that will fit in same place

    I see a Larry Echols in live chat asking about rear brakes on a 04 Forester. Let’s talk about that. I have a rusty 03 apart right now for reference brakes, hubs, everything in my kitchen. I’m making my way to the gas tank tomorrow. Talk about fun. Free advice if you want it.

    My 2008 Honda Odyssey alternator is buried under there in the front. Real pita to squeeze it out from the side. It’s on the 3rd alternator as the first one died at 161k and 2nd one died at 181k. I hope 3rd is the charm. 🤪

    I don't know about taking all of that stuff off to replace the alternator on that model. Coming from the Nissan world I normally just remove the compressor and then the alternator comes right out. Another common issue with these engines is the front rocker cover leaking oil and shorting out the alternator. Just seen 2 come through the dealership last week for that issue.

    Nice job Mr S. I can't help but wonder if said person hooked the jumper cables up backwards shorting out the alternator? 🤔

    Nissan seems to have the worst design/quality/reliability out of all the Japanese manufacturers. Maybe it's their financial position supplier choices in the last decade has effected their products greatly which is very sad.

    • @right2audit422
      @right2audit422 3 года назад +4

      That Reman alternator will outlast the transmission and most of the other components on the car. Besides the owner might need to save some money for the part that breaks next week. Or maybe funds are low from last weeks repair. Owning a Nissan will teach you how to budget your money fast! 😂😂
      A Nissan is like a box of chocolates, you never know which transmission you might get. (My fellow mechanics will get that) I got more where that came from.
      Seriously some people still see Nissan in a league with Honda and Toyota. This was very true in the 90s and even early 2000. But today Nissan is in a league at towards the bottom and falling rapidly.
      Nissan is a perfect example of where cutting corners will get you. Sad because Nissan makes some beautiful cars.
